+40 Life on Bandit Reward a Fraction of a Percent of Endgame health?
Some people have over 9k life at endgame so is the +40 life even worth my bother when I could scoop 8% resist all or an extra skill point?
Even with a +100% life bonus, +80 life against 9k health is about about 9/10ths of 1 percent increase. . . Or is the life gained on level scaled with the health you get early on? |

Health nodes give you more health because of the +40 health.

If you only have 100% life bonus "endgame", you're playing a very special build, I should think, no? Also keep in mind the scale at which you're thinking resistances here; they're not 0-75% considering the penalties in later difficulties.
That said, I'm on the fence here myself. I usually go for the skillpoint since it's more flexible and I think it's more fun, but I'd love to hear people discuss why and how it is (or isn't) balanced. |

Yes, the 40 health gets multiplied by all the %health passive nodes you take.

" You'll have to read into the mechanics thread on how % scales with static values although I do believe the +40 life reward adds directly to the base and % values are calculated off this base. Someone did the math about it in CBT and concluded that (in the long run), the skill point choice would prove superior provided you picked up an 8% node and have sufficient +life values. But in all other cases, especially in HC, taking the +40 is the better choice. Last edited by Lyralei#5969 on Jan 30, 2013, 10:15:07 AM

I think that was mentioned in the first post. . . But +40 vs. a skill point that gives you another +8% life on the skill tree is going to be more than 500 health gained which completely eclipses that low reward --- Lyralei: I'm default so I could risk dieing more early on Since I most likely will get blood magic I'm probably going to scoop the skill point and try to get more 8% bonuses Even if I have to spend multiple skill point rewards to drill over to 1 a single 8% is going to crush that +40 I also don't need the any of the Cruel Rewards for my build, but may still get the +Charge |

That 8% life node you're speaking of, or that 100% life increase is still worthless without the base life. The +40 life adds directly to your base life, and as such is multiplied by every % life node you take from then on. Considering it's based on percentages, the higher the base health pool you have...the more reward you'll begin to receive for 1% life as time goes on.

+40 Life from that bandit will give you the same effect like you would get "+40 to maximum Life" on any item. So it will be multiplied and your health pool will definitely get increased on more than just 40 life.
In general it is not a mistake at all to pick +40 life or +8% all res because you can find nodes which has +6% all res only. The only "node" can give you is 1 more step further to some distant nodes, which "+40 life" bandit reward will not give you. |

Elynole:
I understand that. . . What I'm trying to ask is what ultimately gives you more life at endgame Is it the +40 life right now? or is it the skill point that leads to a +8% boost on all your health? Obviously the amount of strength your character has will have a big impact on this outcome Problem is this quest comes up fast and I need to make the choice soon Edits: I guess if +8% life is better than +40 health I would still need to decide over that or 8% resist all - Last edited by MaximumSquid#7575 on Jan 30, 2013, 10:15:09 AM

" The 8% would theoretically give you more at the end plus allow you the flexibility to change out of it. Its a tough call but I personally always grab the skill point because of this. |
