+40 Life on Bandit Reward a Fraction of a Percent of Endgame health?

Lyralei:

This is likely going to be my choice. . .

I'm a ranged attacker that is almost certainly going to be taking blood magic so the biggest health pool might carry me farther than the resist

Also it's look unlikely that I will be able to take advantage of any charges so 2 or 3 skill points is looking likely
Pre ob, I always grabbed the life. Mainly because it was available through all difficulties. And I wasn't worried about skillpoints because I iknew I wouldn't be getting to end game.

Now? First through normal, I picked the skillpoint. I will have to see where my character stands when I get there to judge if I want more skillpoints. Or, the other awsome goodies offered.

Back to your origional question though. Someone did the math and with abso.lutly crappy gear end game. The life was better. With absolutly perfect gear(asuming its a 8% node) the skillpoint was better for maxing life

In the end. I don't think it really matters now that all three difficulties rewards are different. You have more options now
The answer is 42.
I don't think there's an absolute answer to this question. It really comes down to how much base life you have and how many % life nodes you take. My gut feeling is that really high life characters will benefit from the skill point more, but all the number I've crunched for my ranger (with 193% extra life) show slightly more benefit from the life reward.

Edit: beat me to it dieslave :P

The 8% resist is worthless considering how much resists you can get on endgame gear.
I may not be remembering this correctly, but if you kill all three bandits I believe that you are rewarded with an extra skill point.
Success is the ability to go from one failure to the next without any loss of enthusiasm.
Logic it out

Lets say you have 1000 base life and 300% life increase. 40 life then gives you 160 life and 8% life gives you 80.

8% life node with 1000 base life = 80 life. 40 life with 100% to life from nodes would be 80 life as well. So as you can see if your percent to life is over 100 (which it basically always should be) its far more beneficial to get the 40 life. In short, 40 life is far better.

The thing is nothing is stopping you from taking the 8% health node with just a regular level or quest skillpoint. For the vast majority of the time that skillpoint will not be an 8% node more often than not it's just an extra 10 stat or something along the way to the next passive your going for.

On the other hand an extra 40 base health out of nowhere is something that cannot be matched, when you have the max amount of health on every item (yea don't we all wish) then the only way to get more base will be having helped Dr. Oak farm his pokemans in normal difficulty.

I suppose the same could be said if as the very last point a max level that you were able to reach was a far away 8% node then it would be similar but even then for the majority of that time it was just another useless basic stat node.
BldSwtTrs:

My build looks like it will only have +86% life bonus /w 220-240 str. before gear at endgame

So +40 like looking bad then. . .

depends on what you are doing, if you want to make a char specific for pvp purpose only against another class like "witch" then it's never enough resists.

My guy is going to be AoE Farming most likely so I probably don't need to worry about that

Good advice though
