Time for a "Hardcore" 4 month league? Invasion isn't it.

It obviously is : this is a game.

In the very majority of games in general, there is someone who LOSE. Even more 'worse', in competetive games its like 50% losing, and on "top": against an "engine" you CANT (really) win, its only about time ^^
Some who dont like to lose, (try to) switch to "better" playgrounds...

And in such games where there is so much RNG, you have another layer of "looseness" ! lol
But that's also because many people have way too high expectations for their time spent ( playing + planing/thinking ) imho.

So people who sink over a thousand hours shouldn't expect the best? I think you underestimate the 1:1 relationship of time spent to returns. There are plenty of people who have sunk way less time than the most hardcore players and are somehow much richer thanks to RNG.

No, they can only hope, not expect. Its a game, its (naturally) based on luck, like playing cards... compare it with poker or even skat, you can have a very bad streak over a long time with just crappy hands, and you CANT ever expect to have hand with a staight of 8 or even more trumps. BUT you can always make the best of your hand, sometimes you'll win even those (by skill), sometimes its best to throw and hope for a better next...

Because some people are more efficient than others, some people have better plans, do things a smarter way, etc ...
It is also true that spending more time trading/flipping is most-likely what will you makes you richer, I4m still expecting GGG to release an IG trade system that will somewhat solve this problem, but people spending more time with it will still have the edge anyway.

And I completely agree with Mr_cee
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.
As a lot of you already stated I'm disappointed with the balancing of the invasion league as well. For me there is no fun in smashing the normal mobs in a second, having no challenge at all, but still creeping around the maps, because the invasion boss could lurk around the next corner. So the maps are mostly boring until you reach the invasion boss and than you have a really good chance to die. Sometimes the fight take ages with much running and porting and near death experience.

From my point of view the level of difficulty in one map should be more in balance. The invasion bosses are much to powerful compared to the rest. Nemesis league was fine for me, invasion league isn't.

There are at least 30-40 people who have spent as much time as HvC and are nowhere near as rich as he is in Invasion.
Just want to address a couple points:

For those who attempt insult and claim that people somehow aren't "hardcore", you are using a ridiculous infantile jab that shows inexperience in the ARPG genre. That type of hardcore is what you see in the next "difficulty level" in many games, where the game gets harder as you increase that difficulty setting. But in ARPG's "hardcore" simply means if you die... you die, it's not synonymous with increased challenge except in the area that you need to think about survival first.

The idea that an ARPG "hardcore" mode is supposed to be hair-pulling brutal at all costs is not typical. That may be the way GGG designed the unavoidable deathfest that is Invasion, but that's not what hardcore players expect who've been playing ARPG's the last dozen or so years.

Also...

Nemesis was incredibly fun, compelling, challenging and build-varied -- the feedback was overwhelmingly positive throughout. Corrupted blood and storm herald made you think, but was manageable by the majority of builds in a variety of ways -- Nemesis was an absolute blast for traditional hardcore players. The fun-factor and spirit of competition was strong.

Lol did you miss the amount of a shit storm corrupting blood and storm herald caused? Pretty sure there were countless posts complaining about these mechanics that you saw as being fine. I myself never found issue with them but it just proves that you have a very one track mind as to what makes a league okay versus not okay.
I stated Nemesis was fine. Not just fine, but fantastic compared to this one.

And I pointed out the obvious sore points from the last one because it was worth pointing out the only real complaints the last one had.

Might want to be more than "pretty sure" before you post. I'm 100% sure those were the only real beefs about nemesis.

I'd prefer to play a hardcore version of Ambush. Why? Because it simply seems more "Fun".

Start a character on Ambush. If you die, delete the character.

Problem solved.
Soooooooooo basically OP is sad that Ambush is softcore instead of hardcore? That or this is a veiled QQ about how difficult invasion is.

That's a silly complaint, IMO. If you don't like invasion, normal Hardcore league is still around. Why does it matter that it's a ghost town? Is solo self found too hardcore for you?

I don't get it, OP.

And as has been suggested, you can always choose to play Ambush HC style and just delete the character when it's killed.
