Framerate drops rapidly
And now for something different.
Radeon 7870 with latest catalyst - constant 60 FPS, no framerate problems at all. Radeon 3870 with old as hell drivers - usually constant 60 FPS but, framerate issues in act3 docks and sewers (caused by voidbearer / undying grappler / undying alchemist effects) |
|
Same on Radeon 4870 and 6770.

FYI: We have already discussed this problem in the WINE thread (PoE on Linux and Mac) and found a easy fix for Nvidia cards, which has something to do with shaders. There is still no solution for ATI cards and on Windows Nvidia users do not seem to suffer from the issue in the first place.
However, the easiness of the nvidia fix suggests that this is about a "real bug" and not just about low performing video cards or lack of asset preloading. |

I experience this too, although it became much more noticeable after recenet patch (at least for me). HD6850 4GB ram.

My 10 year old onboard nvidia graphics card runs the game better than my Radeon does, lol.

Is it just me or was the issue we're having worse than it was when the open beta was first released? I remember playing through Act 1 without a single hitch and then the River Crossing map was really spikey for some reason and I noticed other people complaining about that map also.

" i as well have an ati radeon video card. i experience 1 fps to 5 fps with large mobs or bosses and elites. i have noticed much less lag during the beginning of open beta, but many more D/C. now i dont have as many D/C, but a lot alot of lag.... lol, idk which id rather have ;[ Edit: i do enjoy this game alot, but it saddens me when its difficult to play and i die often due to extreme lag and fps drops Last edited by noobslayer#0075 on Feb 8, 2013, 2:01:16 PM

Has a mod or dev already acknowledged the existence of this problem?
|
|
" Not that I've seen. |

" No, I've been keeping up with the problems for about 1.5 weeks now as they are posted on the forums. The only mention has been a random user saying that he had read that the GGG dev team thinks it is not a problem on their end and is entirely user-based, but that could be wrong. As for the suggestion above that it feels much worse now than at the start of open beta, I agree. D/Cs were 100x worse but graphical lag was much better, now D/Cs are better (but the lag variation is worse imo, just fewer D/Cs) and the graphical lag is worse.
