[0.11.0] Aimlessgun's Cold Caster Guide [Now with RF/PA section] Videos! [
Hello aimless, about my map question.. i meant to ask , how are you surviving? Can you solo yellow maps without a problem ? Also, if you can.. can you please name the top 3 Mods on a dagger/wand for this build? Greatly appreciated. :)

" Consider using a kite shield for a while. Nowadays most people are well geared enough that resist shields are not in demand, so you can probably find a shield with upwards of 40 resist all for fairly cheap. Recently lvling the build in the 1wk race I was able to cap resists before 70 thanks to a kite shield (and in the race 95% of gear is self found ofc). Stick with your wand, it's pretty nice :) " Amulet is priority 1. You can even try to alteration a blue onyx with spelldmg/critdmg or HP/critdmg. I think your shield is pretty good right now, somehow getting spelldmg on your weapon would be a bigger concern (though doing that without losing crit is hard, as I've said before, transmute every single white Kris you see!). Past that getting a 5link and your gems lvling up will be huge increases. |

" DW is rarely worth it unless you have amazing weapons and terrible shields. The build gets a lot of DPS from passives and relies a lot on gear for defense. This is my opinion though, I've talked to some people who do well with DW and like it a lot. " :D " Other than the three mods I mentioned, yes. I have not soloed maps higher than 73 because basically nobody does that on account of expense. Spell damage, spell crit, cast speed. You can't get cast speed on daggers so crit damage would be the third mod there. Last edited by aimlessgun#1443 on Apr 1, 2013, 1:43:53 AM

Thanks for the quick answer man. What about Global crit chance+multiplier ?(like the mod on the maligaros gloves) , and what's your IIR/IIQ at? Have you done any farming at all? And if you have, were you able to maintain your DPS/mana/survivability with farming gear on ?

Hit 40 after a break and things are looking good with CI although self-found gear and rather casual play;)
" nah, not really, how much ES would be 'decent' as I go along? I just killed Brutus in cruel with a bit over 1k ES and it was rather simple with a few skellies to keep him busy and ice spear spam. A bit more info about my current char, some advice is always welcomed.

Current tree Later For late game I think about going into the ES, critical chance, mana clusters below the witch starting point (due to having CI) rather than going into the Templar area - any advice why I should do otherwise? I could use some strength for it's supportive skills and totems, but since I don't have the gear that can accommodate it (and won't have one for a while I guess) I will probably wait with it and got for more ES, mana, cast speed (after I got the mana to sustain it), critical strikes (extra zombies and skellies could be fun as well, although not really that necessary). Going with freezing pulse and ice spear with frostbite, some zombies/skellies/ice wall when need to retreat / be more on defensive side. Just picked up blood rage which I keep at lvl 1 since it's just fun and helps to keep up the pace (not to mention that +15% cast speed is what I need right now). For auras I've got clarity and discipline but I'm not upgrading it too far because of mana issues (got around 26 recovery per second with around 90 effective mana pool) Current items:

Resistance gear, change them when necessary

Flasks, huge help and was also very lucky with the + resi + movement speed flasks, I don't have any particular problems with fire damage, but I like the fact it can disspell curses, preferably would change it for another resi/movement flask.

EDIT: just went on to solo Mervil on cruel and lol, if it wasn't for spell totem and skellies I don't think I would be able to kill her :D IGN: AlCohonez, GhengizCohen Last edited by piotras#5522 on Apr 1, 2013, 1:33:51 PM

What would be minimum stats to start going maps solo? im getting close to lvl 70 and want to start running maps and i have no friends to play with so im going solo.
i have 1500hp and 1800 ES buffed with 73 fire resist 104% cold resist and 5x lightning resist (working to get my lightning resist but also getting hp up and my currency are not enough to get anything good) |

" I have this question too, and i would also like to add .. How much ES should i have before doing maps? I'm getting 2 shotted by everyting atm. Currently level 65 |

" I just finally put together a MF set. It's not very good atm, no IIQ on ammy and no IIR on my rings, and my hat and gloves are armor/evasion items lol, but my stats are 3.3k HP, 3k ES, 16k close range FP DPS, capped res, 118% quantity, 140% rarity (including support gems on FP). Farms low lvl maps just fine so far, I might try out 70+ rare maps with it at some point. I know it works well in groups, I duoed high lvl rare maps with my friend who had like 100/200 MF as this build and he last hit bosses/rares while I went for DPS and it worked out quite well. " If you're soloing I'd aim for at least 4k combined HP/ES with capped resists. You can get away with less if you're grouping. If one of your resists is a bit low you can probably be fine with that too if you keep aware of the enemies you're facing. Also the nice thing about this build is that playing better allows you to get away with worse gear. It isn't just about numbers, its about your decisionmaking, movement, positioning and skill and flask usage. Last edited by aimlessgun#1443 on Apr 4, 2013, 3:56:21 PM
