Passive Skill Tree FULL Respec
I recently started playing this game and I really enjoy it, but there is one thing in particular that I'm not happy about which is the passive skill tree. Don't get me wrong, the amount of skills to choose from is brilliant, but the thing that bothers me is there is no way to completely respec other than having to buy lots of 'Orbs of Regret', (which is something I really don't have the time or patience to do). I'm the kind of person that likes to experiment with my build on games similar to this, and in that regard I feel as if this system is extremely unforgiving. I'm big into pvp and I love to personalise my character, however that seems like something I have little freedom in doing, I'm faced with people following build guides. The impression I've gotten from this game is that they want to give people a lot of freedom and options to personalise your character, so why is it we have very little freedom when it comes to personalising our passive skill tree? It seems very unfair to be put against people who follow build guides and having no way to respec other than creating new characters or spending a long time getting 'Orbs of regret'. I just don't see the logic in making a decision like this, it's honestly something that has frustrated me and possibly has the potential to make me stop playing, because no one wants to start a new character or spend their time farming for Orbs when they find a fault in their build, or simply want to try something new.
I'm sure there is some alternative that can be incorporated, I honestly don't understand the reason for not having a way to fully respec. This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

There won't be full respec ever. Lead developer @Chris said the whole point of POE is thinking you char in advance. Respec your char before it goes out of hand with orbs of regret and from respec points, you get from quest rewards.
Have fun. GGG thank you for all the great things you are doing. You have combined every element of all other great Rpg's and joined them together as one Diamond, that will shine Forever.
This is coming straight from the heart <3 |

" Feel free to browse through dozens of other respec threads. A bunch of valid reasons were mentioned and repeated lots of times already whenever such a topic comes up... Aldo, there already is a way to do a full respec, you just need lots of orbs. Last edited by oblomir#3693 on Jan 29, 2013, 11:10:18 AM

" I'm sorry but it's hard to tell when a build is "going out of hand" 1 skill at a time. Personally I'm not very good at this 'theory Craft' type of stuff, I like having a lot of freedom as does every other player. What you've said still doesn't answer my question, where is the logic in this decision? Why have they not implemented this already? Why do they not want players having the capability of fully respecing? It benefits no one or grants any unfair advantages, and it especially does not benefit a players experience. I would also love a full respec option.

No.
Eventually you may understand why this would be bad for this game. |

I don't like the idea of a full respec, that takes away from the danger of character customization which many games lack these days. I'm certain though, GGG could make a good profit off of it should they eventually decide to offer this in the cash shop. But that may be against their ideology.

" I say they should go for it. I am ready to buy a full respec, $5 each. I don't see it falling under pay 2 win because respeccing your build won't make you a better PVP or PVE player if you lack the multi tasking skills this game requires (watching your health, firing off curses/spells, attacking, tactically retreating, NOT PANICKING, etc.). Some people just don't have the reaction time or ability to monitor the action going on in front of them and buying a respec won't change that. Like the OP said, some of us work 40+ hours in a professional career and are married/have kids, etc. Last edited by jpnole#6782 on Feb 1, 2013, 8:29:18 PM

I work in a professional career and don't want full respecs(outside of the orbs of regret). I really wish people wouldn't use that to make it seem like the only ones who want it to remain the way it is are people are able to just play and play.

This is a game for hardcore gamers. Did you listen to the podcast Chris was featured in yesterday? Chris said two things that made me smile in regard to this.
1. He hates respecs and thinks it would be horrible for the game. 2. He is not catering to casual players but hardcore ones. He would rather lose some money losing casual players than sacrifice his vision in creating a quality hardcore game. By the way there are many MANY reasons respecs are bad for the game. 1. PvP balance would be a joke if you didn't have to work for your build and would respec into it. 2. For hardcore players, who are the target audience, immersion and replayability would be destroyed by easy respecs because you would have no reason to replay the same class ever again. 3. Diablo 2 AND 3 were both destroyed by full respecs. 4. GGG is creating a game where choices mean something and mistakes are punished as much as good decisions are rewarded.
