[0.10.4b] Bow Marauder (The Shocker (tm)) [**TO BE UPDATED SOON 1.0.0**]
So I saw what you said about Iron Grip, but then I looked at the DPS Purity build and found a little change to use.
Iron Grip The entire bottom left of the tree's pretty much no use once you have a 5L for Blood Magic. I checked the stats of this vs your purity and I'm sacrificing 1% atk spd for roughly a 60% physical damage boost on projectiles. Thicket bows always have, at minimum, 19-56 physical damage or 37.5 physical DPS before accounting attack speed. At the very minimum, IG will raise that 37.5 to 60 DPS, or a boost of 22 before any conversions. So I'm thinking, once accounting for Atk Spd and WED, it'd come out to be a 80-100 DPS at minimum using all whites. I really can't say that's shabby at all. Assuming all my current gear were whites on my lvl 65 Marauder, that'd be roughly a 8% damage amp on both Frenzy and LA. Also, I was debating about not using blood magic gem at all. A slow-recover mana pot with charge recovery should be able to tie over LA spam, especially since a Chain+LGoH+LMP+WED LA only costs 55 mana, from what my character sheet says. I'd assume just having one Hybrid pot that can be spammed regularly would tie over all needs for mana without having to use the gem, if you don't have Chain. I really don't think there's a mob enemy that requires 10+ LA shots to finish off at any stage, unless it's a 2 or less group. TL;DR: Skip BM Keystone and lose 1% atk spd to get IG keystone. Use mana/hybrid pot to cover lack of BM. Good idea or bad? IGN: Troheim Item Shop: www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/368180 Last edited by evantide2 on Mar 16, 2013, 2:58:16 AM

" I quoted the relevant parts. The problem with Iron Grip and this build is that you are going to get the same amount of DPS even with the highest end elemental gear you could possibly acquire. And going out of the way to grab that just to get a few % boost in DPS isn't worth it. Now considering this you might say, well then I should grab a bow with both high physical values and high elemental values. But really, you can always get a better bow with pure maxed out elemental values. Iron Grip just doesn't do the trick. I've already said somewhere within the last hundred pages that Iron Grip works well on rather specific builds. On this one, it becomes a waste. On a conversion build, Iron Grip would work miracles, because it amplifies a huge part of the output. Life is tough... but it is tougher if you're stupid.

Thing is though, I'm not going out of my way. If I'm not going to use blood magic, then I can shuffle all those points down there to the upper path and get Iron grip in its place.
That's why I'm asking, for the most part. Can I viably drop that lower left branch and just run for Iron Grip? Since all I really need is warlord's mark or a mana pot to keep stable early on before transitioning to blood magic gem. IGN: Troheim

In that case, yes, absolutely!
One more thing for you to consider - grab Iron Reflexes, and run Grace as well. On a completely troll note, that 12% HP node in the center that you couldn't take in order to stay in the points spent range is really killing me. Are you going for HC or SC with this build? Life is tough... but it is tougher if you're stupid.

I'm planning on going SC with this build, since I prefer not having to scrap almost everything if I fail in HC cause rubberbanding, lag, problems, etc.
I was planning on Grace too, but not sure where exactly I should pull out points for IR. I was only going to run Anger + Wrath + Grace + Purity without IR because ti was the best move to keep the build at equivalent stats to your posted one. I also want to invest in that 12% HP node, but I'm unsure where to pull out a point for that outside the 6% atk spd node near the center and duelist. Maybe If I threw out the frenzy charge and grab it? Though that'd be a waste of the Q13 FRenzy gem I have. Going for Oak, Kraityn, Kraityn on the Bandits too, so no spare SP that way. Another consideration could be dropping Unwavering stance. Since I'm using Ice Shot totem as Decoy, I won't really get stunned that often or at all as long as the totem continues to chill. Maybe against bosses, but I can dodge most boss attacks or the ones that actually hurt don't stun in the first place. This would end up with exactly 4 points to get the last bit of HP and IR. That does mean basically everything has a 50% chance to stun me though, until I get to 4k HP... IGN: Troheim

Venator could you add a newb starting part to your guide?
It's a really nice build looking at end game, but it's hard to know what to take and what to use until you get there, if you are a new player. I've read all of your guide, but I still have doubts about which paths to take when, and what equip to take and use at what lvls :P Would be nice if it could be done :P Since well, im lvl 23ish and sometimes have problems with mobs, even on default league. Also isn't it better to suggest Blood support gem for all builds? Since auras make a really big difference in your damage output. |

In the Blood Magic keystone, Grace, tanky build, there are 4 passive points spent to get +24% life (and 30str) while this could be achieved by spending only 3 pts (losing 20 str).
This is in the Duelist tree, where you take Might (30str) and then take 3x 8% life. In the Marauder tree, next to Bloodlest, are 2x 12% life. Just need to spend 1 pt (10str) to get there. Dunno if anyone else noted this before. Not a huge deal but it's a pt we could spend elsewhere. Thanks for the build btw, loving it.
Yeah it has been noticed, I just never got around to actually updating that though.
Do also note I specifically accentuate the fact that those are merely suggestions; not absolutely optimized builds. Several players already found the templates helpful to create their own build (notice the little line of posts above, "evantide2" made his own build upon these templates). And that is exactly my goal with this thread; to expand vision, not to enforce opinions. Life is tough... but it is tougher if you're stupid.

Hey, I have some questions.
I play on hardcore, and I'm wondering if getting endurance charges would be a better idea than getting frenzy charges. Are Anger and Wrath worth the life reservation on hardcore if I take the blood magic keystone? Should I eventually switch LoH to Life Leech on lightning arrow? Thanks!
Finally got a 5L chest and added chain (+200% mana cost).
now LA costs 100+ mana! at 2 aps, i'm using 210+ mana/sec. VERY noticible to my health since i only have 1500 HP after auras. (merciless act3) guess i need to take those 3 HP nodes in golems blood ring. lol Last edited by Pi314 on Mar 17, 2013, 2:26:15 PM
