Emergency Downtime - FIXED

Sorry, but i won't let that "it's free" argument count.

fair enough, "it's free" is not an valid argument when it comes to evaluating the impression of a start of a game, but you have to consider it really is still beta and the devs keep saying so.

the start was nearly flawless.

the problems now probably come from the fact that alot of people start using certain skill combinations.
i do programming myself and it's really difficult to simulate player behaviour with 100 times more players than in a closed beta. you can do load testing and so they did but real players stress the server in another way which multiplicates still underlying hidden problems.

from the bugfixing point of view i wish i could fix my sw scaling and other problems so fast as these 4-5 programmers responsible for the game engine over at ggg.

age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

@Heken

I wonder. Was it really that unexpected? Just about any of the major mmo-news sites praised this game as the "actual D3". I came here fully expecting a huge gathering, to say the least. I'm also not suprised to see malicious people, like script kiddies and fanyboy trolls in the chat-rooms.
I can praise the game for what it is. What i have seen so far. I can certainly not do the same about the performance though.

@mallow

Yeah, that argument works both ways. Over the last few days i tested my system on just about any possible fault. There seems to be an acknowledgement from the devs about the root of those faults. I'm more than willing to cheer them on in their effort to fix the problems but unless i can really see any difference, i will simply withhold my gratitude for then.
Lags and desyncs have been reduced greatly for me so far...great work on fixing problems while informing the players in record time!

We didnt had this on closed beta :)

Good times on CB
That was a really fast fix to all of these issues with minimal impact on players. I'm impressed so far. Cheers.
The Analytical Engine has no pretensions whatever to originate anything. It can do whatever we know how to order it to perform.

just buying more servers isn't the "one fits all"-solution.
the only software scaling without problems is "peer to peer"-software, the design of server/client based software is really dependent on the amount of clients connecting.

on the other hand i think the current crashes originate from ingame problems, not the amount of users.

Hello,

I really don't know what is the fuzz about the things like that happens and we need to stay put with the trouble, GGG are doing the great work here. Staying off time fixing things so you could play peaceful. Comparing to the lunch of diablo 3 (comparing that blizz always having problems at lunches of exp packs for wow) and they even could tell how many ppl will be playing d3 coz of sale they made but still so experience company could not do the trick so I've got only one thing to say to GGG bravo =]
