Sean's DW Blood Tanky DPS

Thanks for your guide.
I'll be using it in HC (I just started yesterday)

Keep up the good job.

Nice compendium. I'm a Marauder but there's not much a difference as both classes need skills from either side of the Passive Skill Tree.

Just wanted to ask about a few things, if that's alright:

1) No aura mentioned in the possible skills. Grace and Determination, is their cost the reason to avoid them?

2) You mentioned Molten Shield, as the defensive skill to face AoE crowds. Endurance Cry is worse?

3) Leather and Steel seems very good since it adds both Evasion and Armour (which means x2 Armour with Iron Reflexes). Would like to know why you haven't picked it up.

Thanks for stopping by dude.

1) The possible skills are just the basics, mainly for damage. Auras can be a good option, but if I recall correctly determination is a percent mana reserve, which means its going to destroy your total health. Flat auras are okay to use after you have piled up enough health. I am actually currently leveling up grace for when I get Iron Reflexes.

2) Enduring Cry is a great skill, but when you're tanking 5+ mobs with this build you HAVE to be Cleaving otherwise you're going to drop fairly quick. You don't really have much time to be using any other abilities during a fight. Molten Shield allows you to put it up just before a fight and get some good Armor bonus and a decent AoE damage when it detonates.

3) Leather and Steel doesn't quite work that way. I've finally found out the math behind it. When you have L&S with Iron Reflexes it takes 24% of your evasion and tacks it into your armor, then takes 24% of that value. So yes, it is good. I've been looking into it, but the total mitigation difference would only be ~1-2%.

For example
100 Evasion
100 Armor
100*1.24= 124
124+100=224
224*1.24=277.76

Whereas with the standard 30% Increased armor nodes.

100+100
200*1.3=260

So yes, there is a noticeable advantage. But, it's only a strong advantage if you have a good amount of hybrid armor (Armor/Evasion) which I currently am using pure Armor.

Thanks for the questions and I hope I answered them well enough haha.

Can you post the link to the source of this information? From what I understand, and from what Mark GGG posted here http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/42605/filter-account-type/staff the 24% from L&S does not multiple twice, only once in the final armor calculation. The formula for Iron Reflexes armor is as follows:

Final armour = base armour * (1 + %armour) + base evasion * (1 + %armour + %evasion)

So if you have armor on your gear (base armor), this is multiplied by L&S 24%, and if you have evasion on your gear, this is also multiplied by the L&S 24% and then converted to armor, but the armor that is converted due to iron reflexes is not then further multiplied by the L%S 24%.

On the other hand, I'm fairly certain Steel Skin nodes multiply after the Iron Reflex conversion, so this would mean that a steel skin node would be more valuable than a L&S node.

Please correct me if I'm wrong here.
Hi,

I have a suggestion to improve your build :

-Pick the 2x12% life nods just below the Blood drinker Keystone.

-Pick the 2x8% and 1x18% life cluster north-west of Celerity. (it requires 2x10 dex nods to get to)

-Pick the remaining 8% life nod in the life cluster right below duelist starting point.

This will cost you 8 passives points but will provide you +66% life and 20 dex.

To afford those 8 points, remove the passives you take in the 2 life clusters directly north-east of Marauder starting position. Those 8 nods were providing 56% life and 20 str.

In the end, you gain +10% life and 20 dex, but lose 20 str.

If you need the str, then look at my suggested build 2, it got +2% life, +20 dex and +10 str compare to your current build.

Current build

Suggested build 1

Suggested build 2
Shadow : Covenant Pulser (504561)
Ranger : 12 charges Frenzy Archer (65154), Dual Claws Elemental ST (709126)
Witch : Self-Cast Arc Tanky Witch (770185), AoF EK/Bear trap (863970)
Templar : Frenzy + AB/Fireball "Cast on Crit" Wander (611200)
Marauder : Death Oath Staff User (498864)
Here's a further improved version :

Suggested build 3

Compare to your Current build:

You gain :

+30 dex
+9% increased attack speed
+18% Increased damage with Axes
+18% Increased damage with 1h weapon
+40% Increased critical Strike multiplier
+1 Maximum Endurange charge
+0.2% of maximum life generated per second by endurance charge
+66% life

You lose :

-15% Increased critical Strike multiplier with 1h weapons
-6% increased damage with 1h weapon
-15% increased damage while dual wielding
-9% increased attack speed
-56% life
-60 str

The net results are :

+30 dex
+25 Increased critical Strike multiplier
+15% increase physical damage
+1 Maximum Endurange charge
+0.2% of maximum life generated per second by endurance charge
+10 % increased life

-60 str

Since you are using Warlord's Mark, I think the extra enduring charge is gonna be useful as well as the extra regen per enduring charge (0.8% with 4 charges). The increased crit multiplier was identified as a weakness of the build so its improved. With the 60 extra accuracy and 15% increased physical damage more than offset the damage provided by the 60 str (12% increased dmg). The +10% life should easily offset the life provided by the 60 str (30 life). Finally, the additional 30 dex also provide 6% increased armor.

Edit : I modified suggested build 3 to make it even better.
Shadow : Covenant Pulser (504561)
Ranger : 12 charges Frenzy Archer (65154), Dual Claws Elemental ST (709126)
Witch : Self-Cast Arc Tanky Witch (770185), AoF EK/Bear trap (863970)
Templar : Frenzy + AB/Fireball "Cast on Crit" Wander (611200)
Marauder : Death Oath Staff User (498864)

Thank for share build :)

i have a one sugeestion..

How do u think invest 3 point to armour 10% X 2 and Steel skin ( armour 30% )

and invest this note < Lava Lash > instead of the bandits quest 6% all resistance.

i think this build have more armour and 30% fire damage than Existing build.

Instead should give 6% all resistance.

how about this ? have a nice day :)

If you are running some kind of Fire Damage heavy build then that would obviously be an acceptable variation. However, I do not run Gems like that, therefore I chose the 8% resist from the bandit quest.

Thanks for your awesome contributions man. I definitely appreciate that time you obviously invested in this work.

I do LOVE the Suggested Build #2 changes. I will definitely being changing that to the final build later tonight.

As for the other changes, I will have to personally look at them and decide. I was considering trying to work Resolute Technique into the build, making Crit Multiplier useless.

But other than that, great thoughts and you have definitely helped me out.

Thanks!

My source of information was some random post that I can't seem to find anymore. Considering yours is from a GGG staff member I'm going to say yours is 100% right.

Thanks again for the heads up bud, I appreciate it.

Has this build met any Leech immune builds? I'm curious how it fares against them.

I haven't had much experience against them. It does seem like a fairly strong counter. However, this build is only heavily reliant on life leech at very early levels.

After you're close to max and have picked up most of your tanky nodes you should be able to tank via armor and other forms of mitigation rather than having a heavy reliance on life leech.
