Rhox's basic hardcore 2h marauder build

I personally have enjoyed using this build thus far, however, I was thinking of editing the build in terms of dps. Instead of using a 2h, and specing into the 2h dps nodes, I was thinking of grabbing the 1h counterparts.

The whole issue im facing, is whether or not its actually worth it to go this route, knowing that I wont be placing any points into any "shield" oriented nodes throughout the whole speccing process. On top of that, will using a 1h be viable in terms of actual dps output, or would I be purely a meat shield at that point.

Can I get someone's thoughts on this please?

I don't really see the point in a 1-handed variant of this build because with ground slam you're supposed to use it at range anyways. I mean if you're absolutely destitute on resists and you need an angelic shield or something I can see the point, otherwise I don't. More damage can be more safety.
Just wondering HOW important stacking health is compared to armour? Like if I had to choose between a chest piece with 1200 armour but only +32 health or one with 500 armour but with 80 health. I know in an ideal world you would get both, but I can't always decide what will drop for me.
i have a question to what to build after resolute technique i know i have to go templar tree but when do you pick those mace passive and elemental adaptation in marauder tree

ty in advance

After playing a quite a few marauders, I can say this is easily my favorite build by far! It's a beast in terms of damage and hp.

I took the liberty of gathering all of the most vital information into a single post so that people can get what they want on a single glance. Hope I didn't miss too many important bits. The passive skill tree progression is merely how I interpreted Rhox's explanation, but I hope I'm not too far off.

Skill gems (w/ supports in parentheses, in order of importance):

Single target: Glacial Hammer (Weapon Elemental Damage, Melee Physical Damage, Faster Attacks)
AoE: Ground Slam (Melee Physical Damage, Added Fire Damage, Added Cold Damage, Faster Attacks)

Other skills:
Molten Shell (Iron Will, Concentrated Effect, Faster Casting)
Enduring Cry
Rejuvenating/Decoy Totem

Auras: Grace, Anger, Wrath (Reduced Mana)

Weapon of choice:
2-handed Mace

Flasks:
Health Flask (increased recovery, curse immunity)
Health Flask (instant recovery, freeze dispel)
Quicksilver Flask (increased charge recovery, +movement speed)
Granite Flask (increased charge recovery, curse immunity)
Granite Flask (extra charges, extra armor)

Skill progression:

17 point build - just picking up Resolute Technique:

37 point build - that hp rush:

55 point build - detour into templar territory, grabbing blood drinker after:

77 point build - yet another hp rush:

96 point build - skilgrimage towards iron reflexes:

103 point build - blood magic, unwavering stance, berserking:

Final build at 105 points:

Personally I don't want to wait as long before getting Blood Magic, I try to get it after that second HP rush. But that's what's great about PoE! Feel free to modify and experiment!

It might still be worth mentioning that again, none of this build is my idea. I just copied all the most important bits from this thread to this post for easier viewing and (hopefully) less asking of things already asked. That said, I do not attempt to claim this build as my own in any way.

I have to say, thank you Rhox, thank you shortwired.

If you need hints, guys, read page #1 and page#19, nice shortup for you to catchup on the build.

I tried this one for my first HC toon, died in act 3 lvl 31, desync on fucking snakes, tried to flee but got teleported right among them, screw them. The build felt pretty solid though, so I'm trying it again, currently lvl 32(yay,improvement!)

It's difficult for me to use molten shell, enduring cry, immortall call...never know when is the right time: any hint for me?

Also, with my first character I used Dominating blow for a while: certainly not a big deal, but I'd like it to find a place in my build, nice add-on, especially when you're playing solo. I'd say with culling strike, probably...not that usefeul, but such a nice touch.

i wouldnt go that far for chaos resist.

i was using newbie friendly slam build at start, then rolled into rhox's build. currently i modified it for myself and my gear /very highend gear/
still working on it.
my all time goes for trading and farming maps lol.
when i take a break from farming i will work on build. too many ppl asking me.

but again,thanks to rhox.
this build already better then newbie friendly one. and with personal modify it becomes epic.
Squirrel is love, Squirrel is life.
Far? It's only 1 node away with the change to grab the duelist(?) HP nodes.

I'm curious how does Steel and leather (+24% armor and evasion) compare to Steel skin (+30% armor) with the Iron reflexes?

I was fiddling around and came up with this

http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgEBBLMFLQ6tFCAUTRRSGNsZLhmFGjghYCSqJ-0otSmlMgkyiTbpOlI62ECgQT9DnEd-TdhQR1BQUeZUSVYEVw1X4lhjWfNfP2BLYIhhUmVNZp5yqXTtdPF35XrvfNmGYIx2jM-QVZHOnrmezZ_LogCnMKeEqWisqrQvud277cAaxtjSIdSP2WHewd-_42rkredS7DjvDu9O8B_yL_Pd9kj3vvrSW6_dDfzFOrM1hp2quc1noId2Sn2QCg48FHG-p9Xt0k3AD2qTtkFOKoTZ

With this you'd be set up to move towards Smashing blows or steel skin. With the one point below the other builds perhaps grab the 12% melee from mara start or Armor master (is it good?)

Edit: How would amplify (12% increased radius to area skills, 8% Area dam) work with ground slam? Would it be worth the 2 point investment? (1 int node)

I'm just wandering how do you use some aura's at such high level cause i see that you need around 90 dex and int for them and dont know how you get them cause with that build you dont have so much and you dont have any dex and int increasing gear
