Why Arguments Against AH Fail -- And A Suggestion

The core issue here isn't game viability or how it would affect the POE economy. It's GGG even being able to do it at all.

Auction houses on MMORPGs are immensely complicated programming feats. If a billion dollar corporation couldn't do it over several years of development, I'm sorry but GGG won't have a chance.

quite honestly i disagree with the OP about the D3 comparison and why D3 rmah and gah failed so hard. i won't go into it, its a dead horse, but the POE trading is similar to D2 and i loved it then. I still do now with POE. Having to go find people to trade with or make a dedicated game to trade, or actually chat with people in channels to buy/sell is part of the game and part of this genre of gaming in general. an ah of any kind allows for insane inflation rates, lack of play dedication, lack of socializing (which is what online play is about), and is just unnecessary. the problems that an ah will cause are way worse than the annoyances of macro-ing in trade chat. i'd much rather deal with people asking me if i have an item or asking to trade than scrolling through walls of over priced gear because some people have nothing better to do than run bots and flood the market.
Anyone who simply relates AH = bad are either new to MMO, or just have NEGATIVE IQ

Hey, maybe the devs also have NEGATIVE IQ too, that seems a pretty logical reason to explain the trading "system" we have now. (And also those really apparent failures on a fundamental level)

O wait, something just came to my mind. Probably the dev's IQ are also related to RNG. This finally ultimately explained why you have a

GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD-GOOD

game combined with such a

SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY-SHITTY

trading "system".

Their IQ are sometimes positive and sometimes NEGATIVE!

I guess this also explains why GGG is so passionate with RNG.

Since an AH would worsen Path of Exile, please help support the link below regarding Trade Boxes to place your items in for other players to see, a dedicated Public Trades Tab, etc.

Images Included: Trade changes via Public Trade Boxes, dedicated Trade Tab, ETC. (no AH suggested)

Thank you.
When game developers ignore the criticism that would improve their game, the game fails.
Just because a game receives a great amount of praise vs. only a small amount of criticism
does not mean to call it a day and make a foolish misplaced assumption that it is perfect.

You want all the droprates and rolls to be tanked to oblivion?

Because that NEEDS to happen if you want a no-player-instant-interaction AH.

Have fun with having an AH and NEVER finding an upgrade for your character ever again.

Yeah. Confirmed by Chris, too.

I was gonna go into detail about how the instant buyout system of the D3 auction house made it significantly different from XYZ, but then you called me a hypocritical idiot in denial.

I guess you win this argument, good sir.

Nope. I'd rather have realistic drop rates with no trades.
Just because Chris said it doesn't make it true. Having to nerf drop rates due to AH is simple logical fallacy. If you don't believe me, look at your own statements in the matter. D3 did it in this way and failed due to this belief. Maybe they should see how the economy levels out on its own before messing with drop rates rather than blindly assuming the idiot devs behind D3 were correct in that belief. If it fails, so what? Ladders reset often, so it can be changed/removed at the next reset (if needed), and it will only effect the Standard league in a small way (since it gets a huge influx of items every reset anyway). However, I think it's worth trying it before instantly saying it won't work. I haven't seen any other game at least try it.

And one last point on the "D3 had to nerf drop rates due to AH" arguement, refer back to my comparison to the hybrid car. Just because that car was a failure, doesn't mean you should give up on gas and electric as a viable model. It only means that something was wrong and it needs trouble-shoooting and refinement to get it right.

On a side note, it doesn't have to be precisely like the AH from Blizzard games. Just a window where people can post/search items and contact the other player without having to sit in $pam Chat in order to work out a deal would be alright.
