[1.0.6]CI Stormcall Build - Low Budget Endgame Build - 30k AoE DPS [FINALLY with VIDEOS]
I got my hands on 10 regrets and rearranged some skill points.
On the one hand i changed the route from the starting point to the left, which gave me +6% Lightning Damage and +10 Int in exchange for +20 Str. On the other hand i tried bada_bing's suggest earler in this thread and skilled into static blow. It feels very good by now but is still experimental. At the moment i feel like it's a good dps increase due to more shock stacks. Gear Changes: Additionally i changed the Devouring totem, that killed my arc totem if it procced, with a molten shell. I definitely feel squishier now, because the totem does not reset the mob aggro. The permashock dps increase on the totem makes it fine for me, but its definitely not a "safer" try. I also tried Coldsnap instead of Frost Nova which didnt made any real differences for me. The damage from a LVL 10 Coldsnap (max for my 5 cwdt) is just to low to freeze mobs. I read your guide and have a few questions.
-How "tanky" is your build? Do you find yourself coming close to death a lot in maps and bosses? -Why don't you use Infernal Mantle for more ES and global crit strike multiplier? Also, how do you feel about using voidbringer gloves for this build? Is the mana cost increase too extreme to be worth it? -Block is awesome. How come you don't use it? Last but not least...You said that a 4L is perfectly okay with this build, but how much does it affect DPS? All good 5L chests cost potentially 10+ exalts. This isn't affordable for many new players. " 1. I feel very tanky at the moment. After speccing into shock i only feel afraid at reflect maps, which can hurt with 3 shock stacks on the enemies ;-). Otherwise i am able to facetank most bosses easily. If you find yourself to squishy running this build you can easily spec into some +% ES nodes and give up some damage until you have better equipment (i specced the whole +%ES circle at around 75 because my gear was mostly lowbe. Tanksituation while playing with my current gear:
Spoiler
While split running Dominus in a 6 man party i managed to facetank dominus in his last phase + about 20 adds for a minute until our MF Guy and 3 others that died stupidly came back into the instance. During this phase i just damaged dominus adds for lifeleech and did not hit the boss himself. The only map boss that really gives me a hard time is the Torture Chamber boss, which i did not manage to kill solo so far.
2. I got an Infernal Mantle but use a better ES Mantle at the moment. Furthermore i do not play a critbuild + with 3 auras running i am constantly on "Low Mana" which would make this equip suicidal for me. Voidbringer Gloves are a nice to have, but the mana cost would kill me. I am at 220 ManaReg/Sec with my lvl 19 Clarity running, which is round about the amount i am spending per second permacasting Stormcall. 3. I was thinking about block after this char hit 70+. Coming from other games i felt block is nothing a Mage/Witch char should have, but i have to agree: It is fun in PoE to use abilities, that do not "belong" to your original character. In my opinion a Tempest Shield would make sense in this lightning build, but it does not really fit my playstyle. Furthermore i think to be able to play a good block-char you should have some good gear - which i definitely have and had not beginning this char. Last but not least: Hey i feel fucking tanky already ;-) 4. I bought my 660 ES chest with 1 Socket with one Exalted Orb i found at lvl 35. Until i got it to 6 Socket (450 Jewellers -.-) and 5 Links (120 Fusing) i used normal 4Links (Storm Call, Concentrated Effect, Added Lightning Damage, LifeLeech) which went pretty well. I did not use faster casting, because i had not the mana to do so. You will feel the upgrade (around +1 Marker with a Faster Casting), but it won't be overwhelming. Another great option to get your 5L early for just 1 Chaos is to use a Rime Gaze (http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Rime_Gaze). Even if you do not need the Cold Damage this super cheap Headpiece can give you an easy and affordable 5Link at Level 65. Hope i could answer your questions :) If not feel free to ask!
What's the bare minimum maximum ES for this build to work? I've noticed that your resistances are barely capped, which can be problematic for others when buying gear. To compensate, and stay on budget, you would end up having to buy items with the resistances you need but lower energy shield contribution. I've always been told that 4000 is the bare minimum for any CI build to work.
You say that the onyx amulet ring is required. There's no way you can substitute with a Stone of Lazhwar for spell block? How important is that stun immunity? If Lazhwar can't be used, then I guess a Rathpith Globe would be the next option, but it means you sacrifice half of your Shield.
As far as i can remember i specced into CI when i got around 3.5k ES. By running Purity of Elements with the skilled Aura Effect passives i get +36% to all Elemental Resistances, which means you have to get about 40% on each Elemental Resistance, which is not that hard.
The main problem about CI is, that status effects (Stun/Freeze) do not think your 1HP left = 100% HP, but instead take your "What it would be without CI skilled" HP as 100%. By having just 1HP you will get permastunned/freezed, which means you need an Eye of Chayula. A Dream Fragments is helpfull, but its possible to maintain the same effect by using flasks with dispels frozen. If you want to play a build that focuses on Block/Spellblock do not use this build, because it has a different playstyle and uses different mechanics. PS: I updated the skilltree (found a shorter path and dropped 10 Dexterity on the way) http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgMBAuMFWwdjB6UIZxFQEZYVUBXXFvMabBzcHaod2R8CIcMmPCepKU8snCymLL8tHy9vL500CjbFN2Y62DvhPAU9X0NURKtGcUbXRwZJsk3YT79SU1WuVmNXK1fhXcZfamBtZ71tGXC7c1N2EX1Tfq9_xoIQgpuDCYaui4yMdo0Zj0aPpo_6kNaTJ5uhnYCdrp_foqOnCKcrtAy1BLaGu9bAVMG0wcXB88Nt0NDXhtgk2RPb592M3fPfsOAS4XPhiOL35CLk7OaB7BjsOO0g73z5ZQ==

It will definitely change! The build grows with each Level and is pretty tanky at the end. I facetank 73/74 Map bosses like oak, without getting even near to 40% ES left.
Like any ES build you have to focus on life early (or be a glasscannon) until you got more than 4k ES and good resistances. PS: Today my Stormcall Gem hit LvL 20 (Won't trade it for quality), which boosts my shocked and cursed dps to 35k+. Being this tanky as a caster with an enormous range plus this damage is just awesome. I won't play anything else until next season :D
The resistances could be better. ... Isn't your drop rate when farming bosses poop without that MF gear? How do you deal with that? Last edited by Sarchi on Jan 7, 2014, 7:27:24 AM

Congratulations on your Vaal Regalia - 600+ES is always a good thing :)
I guess the "lacking MF" is something every build, that is focused on DMG/Survivability and is not totally overpriced deals with. I for myself run in groups with MF/Cullers sometimes (Every party wants +90% Shock Damage boosting!). Solo i feel lucky enough with my but i got a 2nd hand Wand with ItemRarity to switch on, too :)
Updated the thread - Experimental build with Shockstacks is now official :)
