Why is soul Taker so outrageously expensive??
Can someone explain why soultaker is like 60 exalt? It has mediocre damage, and one easily sustain mana without one with a little bit of mana leech (rings, worm's molt, necklace or gloves).
Im using this piece of crap: and it gives me more than enough mana. And I get to use a weapon with almost twice as much dps as soul taker. Also I already use Hatred so my attacks already chill. I really don't understand the price tag. IGN: Beardedwizzard

Because it means you never have to worry about mana. Because you can reserve 100% of your mana and still attack.

Because a lot of players don't theory-craft at all and just follow builds on the forums. Soul Taker sucks... i was so disappointed when i bought one by its terrible DPS i resold it the same day.

Because it means you can link whatever you want for your main attack and not care about mana. It allow you to run 2-3 auras without any trouble. It allow you to forget mana, mana regen and mana leech mods and nodes.

I dont get it either, its basically a blood magic gem with no life penalty (that isnt even noticable) but half the dps of a rare you could get for 1/10th the price.

It is a bit overpriced, but for some skills it is really useful. Like if you use a 6L Cyclone or Dominating Blow, it can get pretty insanely mana intensive.
It also allows you to use two 60% auras without taking any mana or reduced reservation nodes. Normally you would start running into issues with getting the skill off even once, and leech doesn't really work well unless you can get the skill off twice within your mana pool - Soul Taker removes this problem. |

Because you can wield it offhand, and wield your main weapon on first hand and attack with that.

Show me your main AOE DPS dump skillset. Is it a 6L? Chances are you'll run into mana issues with a full 6L, DPS oriented setup. While 3% leech is enough from a % of total physical DPS, you'll often exceed your 15% cap rate
Plus, you can max out your mana reservations and run extra auras. It adds up |
