Wealth without trading

Solo self found/gambled,my characters *wealth* is their continued existence in nemesis/hardcore and the gear that makes that possible.

I'm finding it difficult to relate in any manner to orbs being a form of wealth from a SF point of view. They have the potential to create wealth, but mostly fail at the job.

I have 5 nemesis/hardcore characters since full release all self found/gambled and no sharing stash tabs (self sustaining),a purist if you will.I havn't played for a while and don't intend to play again until the next major update or act.

The easiest way for me to explain what you would like to know is probably below.

My highest level character in hardcore (71),time played 3 days,20 hours,5 minutes,42 seconds.

His gear

Spoiler

His *wealth* as you call it

Spoiler

The other characters are between 20-40 and have substantially less *wealth*

Orbs just aren't acquired in great enough numbers to make a dent in all the requirements to progress at that stage.yes I could beat my head on mind numbingly trivial content for months hoping for RNG to bless me further, but I'm not going to.

The whole discussion in this thread is meaningless, because PoE was never meant to be a "self-found" game.

They designed the drop rates, crafting and currencies around the idea that an economy would exist through trading, as it should in a good ARPG.

This means that you were meant to trade to truly enjoy PoE as it was meant to be enjoyed. Granted, the trading system leaves much to be desired as it is and I'm curious to see how they fix it, but whatever happens, trading will always be integral to the design of PoE.
I guess having a meaningful discussion here is next to impossible. Happy new year everyone.

Yes, because people that want meaningful discussion are people that dont know what they talk about, and almost all of them dont have char above lvl 70.

For example i have a friend who is gamer, but due to rl problems he couldnt play diablo 3 when it came out. So i, and A LOT of other people were far into inferno farming, and were noticing how bad the game is, he played through act 1 norm. And then he said that diablo 3 is like one of the best games he played. Few weeks later, when he caught up, he changed his opinion by 100%.
I am playing self-found and that's reason why I don't have any wealth. :D

Actually I don't care about top items. I have no need to compare myself with other players. I am enjoying mechanics of game and usually I want just to try some build concept or idea and build viable character around this idea. The problem is that I often stuck on point where I am missing some key item to make it work. Traders are asking for ridiculous prices so I have to try find it myself and nope It's not happening. :)
After some time of stereotyped griding I get bored and leave this character or even game for a while.

Simply I don't have enough time to be active in trade chat. Besides It's king of boring for me. I am spending rest of my free time by playing game, but game doesn't reward me enough to make my idea possible.
