1.3 [Newbie Friendly] GROUNDSLAMMER BUILD
My current build is like the link below. (Softcore, solo, self found)
I have been reluctant to pick nodes that limit weapon types because... self found. And have been reluctant to pick those drastic nodes like Blood Magic, Unwavering Stance, Iron Reflexes. What is the flaw of my selected nodes? What should I spend the next 10 or so points on, or spend the respec points on? Thanks. http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgEAxthYYz38jM_2SF8_wQTjn3loJy8LYe8OeA28n1ivqW6-iqSsNuiHKbXyAdzyLwHnOlI1kqQZpzBW2YZgDjz-j9i9G_oUIOsJ7hTelk3j_gol31BHCZb5NOJDple3PvJFhNkYkScgnCe2pDrhxq5lTW5pmAr9MDwtFFK-p2oExPZM_0d-0k1qpSftr2y9gcAP_EusqsWKbBZyqfAfhxl82aIAFE2DOO98PAWf36loMZ5uqkrIRmk= |

I played groundslammer up to level 80, but then abandon it.
My personal expirience. General idea of build (and most variations) is viable and rather easy to play, great for clearing weak areas and lazy farming. DPS on paper can be (very) good too. Stun gives decent protection. But sooner or later problems pop up. Mostly with bosses, if yoy play without realy good gear for hp-maximization. |

Hello :)
Logged in today in standard to check my outdated GS marauder. That's the three Im using (found it somewhere back in the pages) http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgEAAdwB5wJxBLMJlg4UFCAUTRRSFHEYkRnpGjgb-iECIVUl3ycgJy8s-zGeMgk0jjWSNug5DjrYOuE7Oz38RmlHfkrITeNQR1BQUFRUC1bZVw1YY1ivWfNfP2CRZKNlTWn-bEZuaW6qcmxyqXdTeA17jHy7fNmDOIOxhNmGO4cpjM-QVZHOmSuezaIApBmkrKZXpzCnhKloqW6pc6yqtfK77byfvYG-ir6nwBrFisbYy0PSIdi92WHewd-_45_kUel86wnsOO8O73zwH_Iv8kX2SPcy_gr-j__T Missclicked on one hp regen nod, which would've went into cold resist nod to cap my resists. That's my gear : and stats Im posting this just for future references. I have no intention to continue playing my mara. You can find my old build & stats on page 393 if someone is interested. Cheers:) Last edited by Enemix899#0681 on Sep 15, 2014, 9:37:08 AM

Decided to go with this build for my first real character (figuring passive points and skills on my own never got me through normal act3 ending).
Feeling stuck at lvl 70, I stand no chance against Dominus fight and farming docks/catacombs is a real chore and if i go with random group to it im always weakest at fighting mobs. Tried a map once and don't wanna try again as it takes forever to kill mobs there. My survivability is alright (got 6 endurance charges and immortal call+increased duration so can escape hairy situations), but the dps really sucks ( 2.1k gs, ~3k hs). Tried to look for upgrade in trading section, but couldn't find a significant upgrade at 1ex i managed to collect throughout my journey. |

" I find this really, really hard to believe. You should be able to find a basic early endgame weapon for 10 chaos; I got mine for 6 and I'm currently sitting at 8k GS and 14k or so HS. Not elite by any stretch, but good enough for Piety and soloing lower maps. First, it sounds to me like you're probably running a 4L and looking for a weapon upgrade with more links. Don't do that. Buy the hurtiest pDPS weapon you can find by searching PoE.xyz.is with a 10c buyout or under; ignore every other stat on the weapon. That's your DPS base; get as much of it as possible as cheaply as possible. You can then 4L it cheaply using the masters. Second, get a cheap 5L. A generic white 5L shouldn't cost more than a couple chaos or two. Pick one, alt it until you get two rolls you can live with (don't aim too high here or you'll blow a ton of alts, but don't accept useless stats like stun recovery either), regal it, and then use master craft. It won't be 'good', but it will get you into a 5L about as cheaply as possible without being cripplingly bad. Finally, it sounds like you're probably still using the BM keystone and not running auras. Don't do that. Refund BM, stick a BM gem in your GS (people advocate mana leech; it can't be done but you almost certainly won't have enough max mana to make it work without more expensive gear since your leech rate is capped by max mana). Then add Hatred+Heard of Ash+Reduced Mana to your setup, and either get at least 1% mana leech somewhere or start using Warlord's Mark. HoA can be expensive to buy, but one of the masters (Haku?) will eventually sell it to you in their daily shop. Last edited by C0Y0T3_SLY#2226 on Sep 18, 2014, 12:03:03 PM

Thanks for the tips, around ~430-450 dps wpn is best I found there for <10 chaos orbs . Wrote a message to a guy who were selling 428dps one for just 1 chaos, hope to get it soon enough.
It will be hard to get myself running without bm + those auras. I only got 15 dex and 30 int as well (expected to be fine with nothing but str like guide stated)which is issue and would need to get new jewelry/other armor pieces to get plenty of it without screwing up resistances. If you've got ~1 ex in currency it shouldn't be that hard to minimally upgrade to run base auras; even just picking out or alching a cheap onyx amulet might do it I initially. You'll just need to be careful about levelling gems. My base stats are about like yours, and I keep low level gems around in case I find a big upgrade but lose a 30 Dex mod and can't run my higher level for a bit. Gets to be less of an issue but it does constrain your gear options.
There are also some +30 nodes here and there, which you can take and respect if you haven't burned the resets you got questing. Also, be sure you're looking at the physical DPS of the weapon only; anything elemental might as well not exist. |

Good for newbies, definitely, but more experienced players will want to use Mana Leech to sustain Ground Slam (as well as use Hatred/Herald of Ash). Also, Lust for Carnage is an interesting circle that lets us use less Life Leech on gear.
Here's a 2H Groundslammer I whipped up (for Softcore). We'll use Permanent Immortal Call as our defense against physical attacks. You don't have to go into Scionland for the Inc Skill Duration nodes if you don't want to. With the 2 30-pt nodes, you will need 25 Dex on gear and 14 Int on gear to run Level 20 Hatred, which isn't too hard to achieve. You can also do the build as a Templar, Marauder, or Scion. I chose Duelist because Duelist's start is the most efficient in the game for this build. http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgQAmSubLb2BR34UUmVNhNluaamUvqeQbIdqYSGE7xpVEuF07WSjeu9p_jboYEs7O1ivAec6UgUtd1N4Dacw_9MOPIOxqW6ezRQgNI6fy2CRtfLSIVBHhjtuqjWSVw0YkUrIX5j-j9i9kc7ZYVltTeMZLs8yplcn7Ta6MZ78S6yq8pxsFnKpUeZZ8zOHbpeHGXzZtC_AGh2-975gxBnpkFUD7iE0y0OnhJ7FDhQaON7B7Dg62Hy7LdLFivAfBLOiABRNgzipaO98hylGaalzOQ7STcAP Last edited by K0rrupted#5191 on Sep 18, 2014, 4:43:15 PM

How much max mana do you guys have to sustain a 5L GS on leech, and how much actually free? Right now I'm running Hatred/HoA/Determination and it leaves me with very, very little mana (I think I'm currently reserving 93% or so), so everything but HS that I self cast is linked to a BM gem. With my attack speed I think I'd need ~750 mana to rely on leech, so I'd need to about double my mana total. Is that about right, or do you pull it off for less?
That 10% ml cap is nuts and really screws over a lot of newbies building melee STR characters. I'd really like to see a keystone that let's you leech mana based on a perce tage of your total life. |
