1.3 [Newbie Friendly] GROUNDSLAMMER BUILD

Reading back through the last several pages I'm getting the sense that this progression might be out of date. This is my first char, so if anyone has any advice on how I should deviate from the guide, please share!
Looking good so far, maybe a few wasted nodes in the 15% extra light and cold damage, but you can always respec later if you get gear to compensate.

I would head down to Blood Magic next, makes life sooooo much easier.

Check out my tree, pretty solid char, need a bit better gear, but spec is solid IMHO.

Also, on the dex and int, I took those as I wanted to use a few int based gems (quality of items and enfeeble) but they are also optional, although the 30+ to dex helps on the faster attack gem.

This seems to me like a good balance between survivability (lots of armor and life) and DPS, although it has less +dmg% than some proposals here.

Just wanted to put it out there for newcomers to draw inspiration from. Comments are welcome!

I would cut the EC duration and the Armor/ES stuff, also the Twohanded Damage Nodes at Duelist are pretty weak:

5 skillpoints saved

Those can go into the two-handed damage + life clusters beneath marauder start:
16 points left

The 6 nodes there are:
35% stun duration
3% attackspeed
50% damage
10% life
18% armor

Sounds like a fair deal to me.

Very nice tips! I will do mostly as you suggest, it'll cost me a few respec points but I have 13 left. But I think I will keep the EC duration nodes, as I like the extra time to recast them. My usefulness in map parties right now is keeping Endurance Charges up along with Conduit (from unique gloves), that makes map parties like me a lot ^_^

How does this build fair in maps? I played the elemental buzzsaw build for my Scion up until 90, at which point I switched to a wander build. Curious at what DPS can be expected of this build as well as map mod potential.

For gear, is going all out on Str/Life/Res it? If so, how would a setup like what Jin is offering be?

I really like it. I want to run haste and hatred endgame. Will I need more dex nodes, or should I just use the highest haste my dex will allow?

I want to wait until stuns become a problem before taking Unwaivering Stance, since I'm probably getting more from my evasion right now. The southern stuff, ending in path of the warrior, sentinel, and diamond flesh, seems like fairly defensive stuff I can hold off on. Am I right to think I should head north and grab amplify first?

Also, what should I spend my currency on? I've found stuff totaling at ~3-4 chaos (I'm on ambush). Should I be purchasing gems that I won't get on my own until much later, like CWDT or multistrike, or should I be spending a few alt at a time keeping my weapon up to date?

Plays fine in maps. I run 75-78 regularly solo and with others. That said, keep in mind that:
-This is a 2H melee build. You wont be able to block or avoid attacks. You wont be able to kite away and attack from a distance. You wont be able to overcap your resi through 5 auras, and generally you'll have 78 (or 79) + flasks.
-It's a RT build. No Crit basically means that decent gear will get you 5K DPS, good gear will get you 10K, excellent gear will get you to 25k and truly GG mirrored pieces can put you around 40k.

I know these are obvious, but many don't think about what "2H Melee" means.
