1.3 [Newbie Friendly] GROUNDSLAMMER BUILD

"
-It's a RT build. No Crit basically means that decent gear will get you 5K DPS, good gear will get you 10K, excellent gear will get you to 25k and truly GG mirrored pieces can put you around 40k.

So what is excellent gear in your opinion? I was thinking about making a groundslame build and still got a marohi and a leg BoR, i am just interested now ^^

If your Marohi is 6L, then he can be considered "decent".
If you check poe.xyz.is, you see his 400DpS isnt even close to being top of the food chain:
400+ Dps maces for sale on ambush atm
You have to scroll down a couple of pages until you get to the first Marohi if you sort this by pDpS... ;)

BoR isn't really the item of choice for this build.

Excellent gear:
*Absurdly high armor values + life + resist
*Added physical damage and attackspeed on possible pieces.
*maximum number of linked sockets
*Lifeleech

Usually it depends on whether you're struggling with survivability or damage. But I see these main paths to take:
1) The next 4 skill points should go to Enforcer, Amplify and Baptism of Light (gives you survivability from a bit or armor and extra range, also a bit of DPS).
2) After that, I'd head for Steel Skin, Master of the Arena, Acceleration and Leather and Steel (10 more points, all around survivability and DPS).
3) After this, get the three life + regen nodes above Master of the Arena, also get the two DPS nodes near Duelist start (5 more points).

This will cost you 19 points, so you'll level 83. After that you can assess if you need more survivability (the three life + regen nodes - 12 points) or DPS (get Blunt Instrument and Destroyer - 7 points). If you want a mix of both, you can head for the Scion life wheel and catch Berserking along the way - that's 15 points). All of these you're unlikely to achieve as very few people go to level 90+, but you can have that goal.

Hi guys,

I used to be have a 2Handed groundslammer/heavy striker. Had 6000 life, max resist, 20k damage, you can see my gear on previous posts I believe to get an idea of how I was feeling at the time.

Having played with this build for so long I had noticed it was weak in certain areas;

No ranged attack,
No block,
No spell block,
Boring tactics just standing there pumping groundslam most of the time,
No real movement away from spells etc if using multistrike.

With this in mind, I have no changed my build because it just was not good enough as a melee build (facetanking with no block) and it could not do any ranged damage to stay out of danger. I died a few times (78 map to double exiles, Dominus mericless solo) and some other times and I just thought it was too hard to be a decent set up. I had CWDT's proc'ing immortal calls, enduring cry and molten shell. This was not enough to facetank dominus. He killed me instantly.

To all you people that may have followed my build, this build, or anybody else' groundslam build. I really wanted to see it til level 100 or close to that but it would just be a case of skipping the hard parts which I really don't want to do.

After hours of thought, I have now changed to 1h sword + shield build (Following something similar to Gellig) and I have found survivability to be insane. Won't die to dominus now. Still haven't had a change to find those exiles again but I'm sure when I do, this build will be better. It is more expensive, but I feel it is what I always wanted to do with this Marauder. MAN. UP.

Thoughts? :)

No ranged attack,

You say GS is a melee attack? ;)

+1 for the rest.
The Groundslam builds are all horrible in defense and only ok...ish in offense.
Builds like this will get you to maps, but you won't have too much fun there...
Unless you have crazy equip (that you can't farm with this Marauder).

So I'm now 62 and have been in the process of clearing out my existing inventory of items and gear sets in anticipation to gear up this char.

I was looking at Jin's STR set.
http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/556020

Curious how would I want to finalize the sockets on the items? It seems if we're going all out on Strength, how do you make up the Dexterity for Faster Attacks? Would that even be needed?

Haha I've been using these pieces so far while leveling:

Not all of my sockets are even used, not even use what I would put in them.

I do lose the chest piece though with Kaom's so ... how would that be divided up then?

Thx for the feedback, I know im a tanky build and although i havent hit a wall and i know merc isnt suppose to be easy i feel like my dps is low. My heavy strike is around 2.5k and ground slam around 1.6k. Is that decent?
For any new players searching forums looking for their first build this is a great choice. This is my second play through (LA ranger 54) and i solo'd all the way to merc. Act 1 merc i went on poe xyz and traded for a maul and 4l chest but other than that its been self found.

You took all the HP nodes in the beginning.

If your old tree is still accurate, you should go in this order:
-Unwavering Stance - 2
-Baptism by Light - 1
-Enforcer - 1
-Amplify - 2
-Blunt Instruments - 3
-Elemental Adaptation - 2

Berserking and Scion Wheel are garbage. Go for Master of the Arena, health around there and Acceleration.
Also, if you're going to Bypass the whole Faith and Steel cluster, you should take the two crappy Elemental Damage nodes instead of wasting 4 pts on the str nodes.

Here's how your end game should look like

I personally always bypass the crappy 6% nodes and the area around blood drinker, to end up with:

Differences between the two:
-24% hp
-24% armor
-end chg
-2% ll
+20% dmg
+5 skill pts
It makes the "end game" variant more achievable for normal people.
