1.3 [Newbie Friendly] GROUNDSLAMMER BUILD

Just rejoined after a long hiatus, thought I'd pick a cookie-cutter build to get things rolling again. This has been wonderful. Did the Crematorium on Cruel in 5 minutes flat, and was 1 hit away from killing Piety before she fled.

Stats:

Level 50
1.6k life - almost to that huge node circle, though, so that'll be going up quite soon
Max res
2.3k dps heavy strike
1.1k dps ground slam
60 hp/s
And I lucked into a Cast on Damage Taken, so I have Decoy Totem and Molten Shell triggering every few hits.

Many thanks!

Why are you getting nodes on the top left? (also those two on the bottom left) there's 11 spent getting another endurance charge, it gets you 30% phys 20% armor 28% life and 60 str. IMO kill oak in cruel and use those 11 points elsewhere.

some quick playing around with those points got me a ton of value

i prefer more damage (+30%) and life (+12%) and loose some res (-30% cold & lightning) with this one :
here

res can be found on stuff
More trial-and-error feedback for those who want to know:

Alpha's Howl 2 Auras test (loooong text):

Alpha's Howl grands 8% Reduced Mana Reserved (and +2lvls for Auras gems) and has a nice evasion rating, but it lacks +life stat. My life w/o life stat on helm is 4508, with a helm that has +85life i get to 4798.

Just a couple of things in advance:
1)Because of my gear, using this helm left me with only 21% fire res (before any End. Charges)! I was still ok in all of Sceptre of God lvls, but packs of "dogs" (Voidbearers) gave me some grief... Even a blue pack of them in low-lvl Docks could make my hp plummet, when nothing else in that lvl can even scratch me.
Even so, i run through all the lvls of Sceptre without any issues, no close calls (only encountered white dogs there).
2)Because i won't change my gears links/colors on sockets before i finish my test and decide on a build, i run WarlordsM from mana (i have always run it from hp before). This means that every time i cast it (all the time) i consume more than half my mana (cost is 50, mana left after Auras is 87). This should not be the case with the "proper" gems (BM gem link) and it would take a load of the use of mana.
Even so, casting WarlordsM and then use HS to kill mobs is better than not casting it, i leech more mana that i spend and it stays close to max.

Now, due to my socket colors on hy Alpha's, i used Hatred + Determination. I would prefer using Hatred+Grace instead, but total armor rating with Determination is close enough:
7445 w/o any Auras (wearing Alpha's ofc)
11.2K with Determination
13.4K with Grace

So with Hatred + Determination +lvl18 Reduced Mana on my Alpha's, i have 351/438 of my mana reserved and 87 left free. Things could be better with +mana stats on gear or even more Int.

All stats:
402str/142dex/100int
4508 Life
11.243 Armor rating (55% est. dmg Reduction, up to 75% with 5 End Charges)
*(with my lvl18 Molten Shell "manually" casted i get to 15.586 total Armor)
Cold and Light. res at 77%, chaos -60%, fire at 21% (up to 41% with 5 Charges)
4482 DPS GS (still with Quantity gem)
12.680 DPS HS (still with Quantity gem) @28 mana cost

*HS cost is 37 with Life Leech instead of Quant. and also 37 with Add Fire Dmg instead (@16.156 DPS)

Feedback:
All fine in Docks, can still use HS without WarlordsM on blue packs and rare monsters, but these are low-lvl and die fast.
On lvl68 Sceptre of God (played up to Dominus stairs) things are also fine, i used WarlordsM all the time (like i should, that is the plan) and was generally ok since i mostly use GS to kill mobs. Killed a few rare mobs with WarlordsM but w/o needing my mana flask.
I did had to use my mana flask on two rare monsters, one was Immune to Curse and the other one was that super-fast life-regen Unique dragon-looking thingy.

So in conclusion, this setup kinda works with my gear and with a bit more mana or some mana leech from gear (NOT mana leech gem or any skill tree reduction nodes), it should work ok.
Still i use GS for all white mobs and some blue ones, and HS if fine from mana for Warlords-Cursed blue mobs and rares (well most of rares at least).

With juuuust a bit different gear (NOT expensive/Uniques) you should be ok. Imo running two Auras is worth popping a mana flask every now and then.

*I did also tried to use a lvl1 Clarity gem on top of the two Auras, but that leaves me with 19 free mana when on Alpha's (+2lvls), or 31 mana when i casted it alone (w/o reduced mana support gem!) from a random piece of gear.
I could try to run it from a non-Alpha's piece with a Reduced Mana support gem, but 3-4 mana more would not help much.

Finished at last, god that's a long-ass piece of text!

Gear/gems:

*NinjaArabStrategist, if for any reason you feel that i shouldn't post all this in your thread, please let me know. Just in case ;)

Is this a good Nemesis build?
Do you have problems due to lack of Armour nods or is Armour from gear enough?

thanks for understanding, i'm just a new player

this is the best beginner build period BUT this build also steamrolls endgame so it works for everyone. and no you don't need good gear even in merciless.

glacial hammer damage: 14 000/sec
ground slam damage: 9000/sec
leap slam damage: 7000/sec

max res
7 endurance charges.
chaos resistance -33% looking for ways to increase this a little.

I have not used Endurance charges in a build before.

Can someone take a few minutes and explain their use and benefit. I get the cast on hit benefit though.

My question is because I don't know diddly about endurance charges and when I use the 99 pt build provided on page one and due to my ignorance on how many things work, I can't help but look around for other options. So:

* If I follow the same build overall design but avoid taking each of the 3 Endurance charges I use 12 less passives. (6 ea - +10 str + 3 ea end cgs + 3 ea bonus end)

AND

* If I also don't take those two 6% life w/+1hand damage at the bottom left on the passive tree I now have 13 unused passives.

So what Have I done thus far:

* Given up 6 +10 str nodes
* Given up 3 +1 endurance charges
* Given up 2 +18% increase endurance charge duration
* Given up 1 0.2% maximum life regeneration per second per endurance charge
* Given up 2 +6% increased max life & 2 +12% increased 1 hand melee damage

** I just gave up + 60 str - 3 end charges - 3 endurance bonus nodes - 6% max life & 24% one hand damage.

Now what to do?

What if I were to pick up instead:

* 3 ea +10 str nodes "OR" (2nd build below)1 ea +10 str node and 2 +10 dex nodes
* 2 ea +10% increased melee phys dam w/two hand weapons (+20%)
* 2 ea +10% increased phys dam w/two hand weapons (+20%)
* 1 ea +20% increased phys dam w/two hand weapons + 20 to str (+20%
* 1 ea + 4% increased atk speed w/two hand weapons
* 1 ea +10% increased armour + 6% to max life
* 3 ea + 6% increased melee phys damage (+18%)
* 1 ea +15% increased melee phys damage (+15%)
* 1 ea +12% increased phys damage w/two hand weapons (2nd build below only)
* 1 ea + 3% increased atk speed (2nd build below only)

*** That adds up to +93% bonus damage w/6% max life + 4% atk speed + 10% armour and + 50 str.

If endurance charges are not that big of a deal I think I may be onto something, especially when I compare what I don't understand above and compare it with what I think I understand below.

Both of my builds below use 99 points and both appear to me to be very viable:

http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgEAxthYY1BQjM_2SF8_e4whAir2IVU5DlRJ51LvDrnd8i9E5xznqBhqO2oeIPDZYRkuJ-3z3ayqcql82fcy-OtBqt-_FHGnMPe-FCBQRw48iI8PzKZkyZg26FiveA2pbrXyNZL-j03jplc64fJF_gqsWYjx52MxnjXWRQr0xr68guSQEYqvSsgB55_LUea0L0E_ZKMaVWEhhO907XrvYEsFLUCgnrlsRnJsMgmpc1nzwBrkrd7BkFWnhBo4Pfx8uCku3D3BBBLZ

I also put together this build that I believe is "even stronger", than the one above unless endurance charges are really the bee's knees of a skill:

http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgEAxthYY1BQjM_2SF8_VEnnUu8Oud3yL0TnHOeoGGo7IPBqHtlhGS4n7ayq891Z88AakFWnhBo4e4whAir2IVU5Dtw9wQQS2alzeWgLYXgNqW618jWS_o9N46ZXOuHyRf4K52OI8axZMZ411kUK9Ma-vILkkBGKr0rIWK826AHnn8unMPe-FCBQRxRxDjyIjw_MpmTJmEGq379koxpVYSGE73Tteu9gSwUtQKCeuXKpfNk9_Hy4KS5sRnJsMglR5rQvQT-HapBs

I await your help in understanding what/how endurance charges are...

and

Your very helpful comments on the build above.

If the build cannot be seen please let me know and how to remedy it.

I'm only level 32 on my Marauder but this is my experiance so far.

At first this build is a bit... irritating, what with the slow attacks and alot of misses but once you get Unwavering Stance it will really get alot easier and then your only problem is mana usage.

Before you get Blood Magic you might as well ignore Enduring Cry and Warlord's mark because they use too much mana to spam very group of enemies.

But once once you do finally get Blood Magic this build becomes very very fun, you'll be leaping into battle with a cry of battle and slamming the ground damn near every second and lose barely any health even without cursing any enemies, you can go from fight to fight leaving a path of corpses in your wake and boy does it feel good.

So yeah 10/10 great build.

I'm not an expert, but here is my very short reason for using End Charges:

They give a big phys dmg reduction, you would need many 1000's of armor to mach it.
And even if you do get the same reduction through armor, like NinjaArabStrategist say in the first post:

NinjaArabStrategist wrote:
PR0TIP: Armor is not viable against high-physical critter, because of the way it works. Don’t look at <<estimated physical reduction>> - it works only against white critters. High-physical ones will pierce majority (if not all) reduction from armor. They won’t pierce Endurance Charges.

As for your build's tree i can't say much, but those three 6% phys dmg nodes near the Scion's start are crap and even if you desperately need the first 15% phys dmg point, you still get it through the 3x +15 res path you took.
Just by removing one of those 6% and taking one more on the Baptism by Light cluster (+10% phys dmg w Mace and +10% Armor), you will gain 4% more phys and 10% Armor.

You could also spend one of other 2 to get Vigor (+1 End Charge), since you only need that one point.
Or take Executioner which is +12% phys dmg (also one point away).

Please await other answers from more experienced players ;)

PS
You got "by default" 3max End. Charges, i would recommend utilizing them with Enduring Cry and/or Warlords Mark (Warlords is a good curse even if you don't use charges).
Especially now with the Cast When Damage Taken + Enduring Cry combo "autocast", it would be a shame not to use them imo.
