1.3 [Newbie Friendly] GROUNDSLAMMER BUILD

Hey NAS,

A couple of things:

1)
The link "NEWBIE FRIENDLY BUILD" which has the complete build (99pts) is a bit different from the link that says "5. Upper-left part") (101 pts).

Different nodes:
15% melee physical damage at Marauder start.
15% melee physical damage around Scion area, above the 18% resists.
Executioner (15% phys dmg & 20% acc rating).
6% Elemental Resistances around Scion area.

2)
I'm aware that this build is based about having as much life as possible but I'm wondering if the two points invested in the nodes "One Handed Damage & Life" may be allocated elsewhere as the build can only utilize the 6% life in each node.

Hello, I am new to PoE and I decided to try out this build because you make it seem like it will make my life alot simpler. Gem wise, I guess this is true. However I feel like I am dieing quite a lot with this build and if not then im spamming way too much potions. This was before getting to cruel difficulty.

I am now lv 44 in act 3 (cruel) and I feel as if it would be impossible for me to kill any decent sized group of mobs or solo any bosses. It was thanks to a friendly Marauder that joined my party and just killed everything without any troubles that I got this far in Cruel difficulty. We were the same level, he was running a cyclone focused build. I feel like I just can't lifesteal fast enough to stay alive.

What am I doing wrong?

Rings? amulets? Did you find the "Cast on Damage Taken" Gem?

And do you remember what NAS said about gear

Equipment
Firstly we need one four-linked item (later five-linked one), so we can put gems there. This can be any piece of equipment (expect weapon), can be white, without any modificators.

» Helmet –life
» Chest –life
» Boots –movement speed
» Gloves –life
» Rings –resistance
» Amulet –resistance

Here are my rings and amulet.

I dont think I have a "cast on damage taken" gem. This is all still fairly new to me.
Imho, you're too low level-wise. I'm 37 and haven't still finished the Normal Act III. Grind more your levels in Act 2, there are some good places to do so, so that you can allocate more points in your template, thus improving your survivability/DPS.

also, you would want to change your chest and helmet. They're lagging behind the other pieces.

1. I would bet that your resists sucks.
2. Use Enduring Cry to collect Endurance Charges. Or is Warlord's Mark enough?
If you have problems with maintaining gear, you can always keep only one 4L with Ground Slam and swap it for Heavy Strike near bosses

You most likely lack life, resistances and gear...

You mention that you got to Act 3 with the help of another guy, maybe that way you lost valuable XP and possibly loot (farmed XP and loot from normal Ledge).

You need a better chest piece, a blue with that stats is not for lvl 40 (imo).
Also you could try a Geofri's Baptism (get if for free, thread No 512409), but it's kind of late for it maybe (it's awesome for a lvl27 weapon and lasts up to lvl50-57).

Just for comparison, i got to Cruel at lvl39: life 900 (with v1.0 you should have way more), Armor 770, res 63/75/75 and i had no problems. Killed Vaal at lvl55.

I could give you the armor below for free if you want, but you should really look for a cheap life+res one (the more life the better).

Good luck and have fun :)

Edit:
A nice and cheap (also for free in tread 512409) source of res is the Goldrim helmet (i used one for a while when i got to Merciless): +38 to all res will probably help you a lot ;)

This is maby a mad idea...but theres only 1 nod that increase melee dmg..therfor all nods taken work with spectral throw...how about run this build with spectral throw instead? im current 52 and abit bored at ground slam so gonna try it =D

Love this guide! I'm not exactly new, but I've never played a strictly melee character before, and this guide really leads to one of the most survivable characters I've seen!
So for Cast on Damage Taken, do we level the gem to 20 for this build or do we leave it at level 1 due to stat requirements?
