1.3 [Newbie Friendly] GROUNDSLAMMER BUILD
I have a question regarding armor with this build. I'm only 51 now so I'm at the end yet but still tanking fine in Merciless (no armor nodes), my question is - if blue and above monsters are just going to pierce the armor anyway why get the nodes at the higher level? Would you see more survivability going for say Thick Skin as an example for another 32% health at the cost of the 93% armor boost nodes.

I'm also at a dead end in ~L67-68 maps with this build, and have turned to leveling some other characters.
Welcoming some feedback on where to go from here. I know a 5L or 6L is the next step, but all that will do is improve my DPS--nice but I don't think a bit more damage will change the experience I'm having. Currently L71. Gear:

RIP my Maruader Orckhan, who made it to 60 using this build. Flicker strike champs in Ship GY cave. Missed the key for second Granite, missed the exit click, lol.
Enjoyed the build, felt very tanky and safe all the way through. Might have survived if I had more luck with gear drops on the Ledge. |

" Will you still have capped resists if you respec the lightning/cold resist nodes? I would drop life regen nodes near golems blood and proceed with the max life nodes at the top. Your gears looks pretty good. I am level 76 with a similar build. Modified version of TS's build. http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgEAAnEEswUtDjwOrQ_MFCAUTRiRGNsZLhmFGjghAiFVIWAkqiftKLUppSr2MgkyiTWGNuk5DjpSOrNAoEOcSn1QR1BQVElVtVYEVvpX4lhjWfNbr18_YEtgiGFSZp5noHKpdO108Xbnd-V673uMfNmDOIZgh3aMz5BVnaqeuZ7Nn8uiAKZkpzCnhKlorKq5zbndwBrBBMbYyZjUj9w93Q3eweNq5K3nUuw47w7vTu988B_yL_Pd9kj3vvrS_MU= Last edited by eddiec93#7199 on Mar 25, 2013, 4:25:12 AM

Seems the guide has changed since I've visited it hte last time. However, I'm quite happy with my old version. OK, I don't play Marauder (lvl 70 ) anymore because no build can help a Melee class at the current state in PoE in endgame (good luck to do maps alone with a melee build and without top equipment. ;) ) GGG really needs to tweak Melee and maybe some mobs (even Mobs 10 levels under you can easily kill you if you are not careful enough, even with 80 all resists, alot live and armour. (I recently found out that Armour means actualy nothing in PoE )
But the build is still great for beginners and an easy way to discover the game. And it's strong enough for beating Merciless without much stress. Site note, there seems to be a little mistake in the description of the Equipment, it is written: "This build is very gear independent." I guess it should mean "This build is NOT very gear independent." |

I followed this build util about ~68 and then slowly remade my build. Now I run 4 auras (haste, hatred, determination, grace).
Couple of advices: 1) Use 2-4 endurance cry gems. It will help you get full charges much faster. 2) Decoy totem is a great help for grouping mobs up. I't better to drop it between you and a pack of mobs and then ground slam the shit out of this pack. 3) Use endurance cry in a group with a great care - you will drag aggression of all mobs in a skill radius. I respected a lost of my resistance nodes when I was able to get my hand on a better gear. I respected ES nodes due to it reduced efficiency in a groups. My current build is: http://tinyurl.com/bphow28 Armor becames really efficient with auras and high-level mods on rare. I now have 51% phys reduction with auras without any godly items. Next goals in my build are 12% IAS and 24% armor and evasion nodes near master of arena and 6 life nodes in the middle. Grats to ninja for this wonderful build! It's really the best possible start for a newbie mara! |

" To increase the range on ground slam. Lies! I got GCP every time I kill a mob with my mouth in JUST the right position! So now I just have to make sure I can make it to that position before the mob is dead each time. :-P

great guide
I am a pretty new player at this game, I have a level 43 witch and level 30 marauder I was going to make my marauder a cyclone marauder, but ive heard and read that cyclone is not that great.. Would this build be more powerful or easier to make/manage for a newbie like myself? I dont even know which weapons to use for a cyclone marauder, but this guide is more straight foward If so I might consider making a new marauder for this build Thanks for any input IGN: mrtypr
