Would an Added Cold (Q20) plus the Shadow +5% Freeze Chance passive be useful for godly freezing CC..? Possibly Added Cold (Q20) + Prolif?

Yes it would indeed. However, I tend to find %chance to freeze less relevant as your crit chance gets higher. This is one of the reasons why Taryns' users opt for added cold as well as the shadow's chance to freeze node, because Taryns' doesn't have crit in it, and also because most Taryns' users don't build for crit.

For this build, you won't need added cold or the node for freezing cc.

I refer you to Steifoss' who has indeed used ele prolif. (I haven't used it as I tend to solo)

I've thought about using ele prolif, but didn't really see the point when most things were dying within 2-3 pulses. Is it because of the freeze and shocks offered by it?

Freeze and Shockstacks are pretty nice in a full party, it just felt like using freezemine at some points. There was this pretty nasty pack of gmp chaos alchemist in a gmp map wich i permafroze until they where dead. I think the loss of ~2k dps is worth the utility prolif provides in partys, but i wouldnt consider swapping Added Chaos for Prolif when im solo.

Haha gratz !
I finished the calculations for my CI character and taking into account the gear I could possibly have, I'd reach a "consistent" 3.5k tooltip dps with GMP... Not sure if worth the effort. Though the build I'm working on should be able to mindlessly spam on double reflect paired with -25% max res.

I've always liked the Freezing Pulse, but didn't really manage to make it work in 70+ maps (CI sucks -.-). And tbh, I don't really like the idea of playing around with mines and stuff in a FP build. It's efficient indeed, but to me it feels out of place.

haha thanks, was huge fun testing it out!

Ya, CI spellcasters are in a bad place at the moment. That's the reason I decided to play an EB/HP/MoM spellcaster instead. Higher DPS, arguably higher survivability in terms of EHP as well as being cheaper to level and gear up.

Tbh, with this character I can just spam freezing pulse all day and be able to clear maps just like that, but it can get quite boring. I tend to like having variety every now and then, hence fire trap and freeze mine, which can come in very useful in party play as well.

added a vid:

Level 76 crematorium half regen double boss map run.

Didn't expect the boss fight to be that laggy. My apologies if it's frustrating to watch.
Note to self: don't do double boss in crema again.

Hi,

This seems to be a great build. But I can't even start it.

I've die to brutus, normal, due to very low damage from FP. In fact, after 4 minutes, he was at 50%, i've been twice to town to refill mana and life flask.

Can you give me an hint on how to kill faster? Even the zombie at the coast can tank 4 FP before dying.

I will test your build again, using a +1 cold level wand (hopefully with + spell damage). Is there some other easy trick? Dual wand or +spell shield? Added cold damage in neck, ring?

Thanks,

Yes, level with dual wands or dual sceptres. Also, use both fire trap and freezing pulse while leveling to kill mobs.

For brutus, use fire trap + ice spear/fireball

For merv, use fire trap + fireball

fine-tuned the level 96 tree a little. Decided 2 x 8% mana nodes would be more useful in providing increased EHP (in the form of damage buffer + mana regen) as compared to the 2 4% hp/evasion nodes

I apologize if this is uncouth but if any of you are trying to play this build in Standard and are having trouble finding a Berek's Grip, I have one for sale:

I figure it's difficult enough to find in that league that you all might appreciate the PSA. Feel free to PM me here if any of you are interested.

Is this build doable on HC? I won't have access to Berek's Grip or the Taming, how necessary are they for the function of this build?

Berek's Grip is a nice bonus but not essential. Its not one of my main rings. However, it does allow me to run no regen maps, which is about the only use I have for it at end game.

Taming I've decided is redundant. I much prefer life, mana and mana regen on my ring instead of the damage bonus from Taming.

In conclusion, I'd say that it's doable without either.
