0.10.0 patch notes, balance explanations and how microtransactions work

didn't read all replays but what about cut-throat and item dropping.
If customized items with cosmetics can't be dropped, then what happens with them in cut-throat or similar mode?

Maybe work-around would be: cosmetic removed automatically and then item would be dropped?
Hell yeaaaah!
I like almost all the microstuff.
BUT i already have 10 stash tabs but i cant change the 6 i bought, i need to spend even MORE points on that?
Do i understand this correctly?

Because if i do i regret that i have already bought stash tabs...
Playing since 0.9.2g
Thanks for the patch notes - and for the general candor as always, Chris.

I think with all the changes going live later today, you guys were (eventually) bound to get a metric shit-ton of complaints from certain folks (a 'vocal minority', perhaps?) who've seen their 'favorite builds' nerfed, rather than (more) support from those who are happy or ambivalent towards them.

Folks should also note that (current) balance decisions are almost never 'set in stone', and that these can and will change over time.

I for one am all in favor of more build diversity, even if it affects my favorite build 'modus operundi', as it enhances overall replayability - which should be the eventual goal, no?

I mean - folks liked their (overpowered) Mana Shield Wizard in D1, but did that (level of imbalancing) really help the game? I'm glad we're going even further away from this notion of 'cookie-cutter builds' (e.g. Chaos Inoculation, et. al.) , as much as I do like cookies.

-----

Some folks probably will also lament the release of Open Beta as 'the beginning of the end' (even with the addition of the Act III content) for those 'privileged few' who got to experience the game before the 'Hordes of Locusts' descended upon the servers to 'rape and pillage and destroy the existing community', but to each their own.

I for one am looking forward to it - and wish you all great success. You've earned it. :)

Cheers,

UPDATE: Due to extensive feedback in this thread, we have changed the implementation so that effects can be reclaimed at no cost. Microtransaction effects can be freely moved between items. This will affect their initial pricing somewhat, but we'll investigate adding cheaper one-use "demo" versions of them in the near future.

another concern here: while applied to a character/item, will the effects be really bound to this character/item or still be usable account- and charater-wide? like, when i die in HC and go to default, will the effect travel with me? and, since i tend to delete my dead HC-chars and start them anew, when i forget to reclaim an effect, will it be lost when i delete the char with its items?

when you say change you mean colour and label them?

if so then fear not. the premium tabs are an add-on to existing tabs.

so you could (if all goes well) upgrade any of the 10 tabs you already have. Chris mentioned this would be at an initial low cost so you should be able to spruce up any or all of them I would think.

As a long time veteran in MMO gaming this is the first time in a long time that I'm truly excited aboout a new online game of this (my beloved) genre.
I have only good things to say about the communication provided by GGG and the way they handle player feedback and the prospects of Exile becoming the next big thing.
