[1.0.6] Goddess of Thunder - CI Storm Call tank [discontinued]

To be honest, you're not going to get an Aegis Aurora without farming Piety in Merciless. For her, I recommend some good spell block, which you get from having good physical block and specific items. These are Stone of Lazhwar and Rainbowstride.



If you buy Rainbowstrides, by the way, get as close to 25% spell block as possible. A 25% spell block may cost you 2 ex, but it's possible to get a 23-24% spell block pair for only a single ex. I paid 1 ex for my boots. People mainly use these for the spell block, so the ES/Ar % and total Shield is not as important. The Spell block is a lot more important, IMO.

When I farm Piety, I duo her with another guildmate with high IIR (increased item rarity %). We kill her every 2-3 minutes. My energy shield almost never gets broken there. I dropped some gear worth over 1 ex there, and it's the best way to make money in this game other than flipping all day and converting your computer chair into a toilet. I think it'll take me at least 1-2 months to afford the shield AND good hybrid Armour/Energy Shield armor. The breastplate I have is still considered total crap because its armor is low and 4L. Good hybrid armor like the OP has (5L) will easily cost 8 ex.

With my gear, I have about 5100 armour, 3400 energy shield (using discipline gem that is not maxed yet), and 1000 life. My elemental resistances are capped (required), and my chaos resistance is -31%. Chaos resistance isn't the most important thing to have capped (you probably won't ever get it capped in merciless without going CI, which is incompatible with this build anyway). For CI, I need 4000 ES at the very minimum to be viable.

In total, I've spent so far on my gear:

-Anvil (good roll) - 2 chaos Try to get as much +armor as possible.
-Wand (slightly better than Moonsorrow) - 2 chaos
-Shield (FREE) Expect to spend about 5 chaos
-Gloves - 3 chaos
-Boots - 1 exalt
-Chainmail - 3 chaos (beware of people selling similar statted armor for something stupid like 10-15 chaos or multiples of exalts) There's sellers who try to rip newbies off. Beware the idiots.
-Lazhwar (FREE)
-Helmet - I think 1-2 chaos was what I spent.
-Rings - Typically cost 1 chaos for what I have.

Also Rainbowstride is useful for a number of different builds, so having a pair is generally a good idea.

Yes, in addition to what Sarchi said, Rainbowstride are a huge improvement. You get a good ES boost, Resistances and Spellblock. I recommend, if you can, to buy 25% Spellblock Rainbowstrides, this is effectively +1% Spellblock from Tempest Shield.

Next, rather cheap improvement would be Daresso's Courage (get one with 5-6% increased block). The shield gives you Resistances, a good Armour boost and most important, 120% of your block chance as Spellblock. Together with Rainbowstrides and the 12% node you will cap your Spellblock.

Now you can lay off Stone of Lazhwar and use The Anvil, which is very important for Lunaris. You get more block chance and Armour, this will greatly help you staying alive in Lunaris.

An easy improvement for helmet would be Geofri's Crest, it's rather cheap, gives you Ar/ES and all resistances.

And last but not least belt, get a Heavy Belt with +Armour, you can find some decent ones pretty cheap.

All in all, depending on league these improvements will cost you around 2ex total.
To stay alive until you get Aegis (which you couldn't use before Lv62), pick up Ghost Reaver and add Life Leech to Storm Call and Tempest Shield.

To answer your first question: No.
I first had a build in mind that was completely different, but after a few theorycrafts it developed more and more into what the build is now. I liquidated pretty much everything i had left from Anarchy to buy lots of gear and gems for testing around and then rolled this build on my old Anarchy Witch, since she had a full respec.
Currently leveling a new char with my build, she's at Lv64 right now with like 5 deaths, all due to careless playing (watching more tv than the game lol).

I have a question. With my current gear (check my last post), I have about 5200 armour and 2621 ES (no Discipline active; something like 3300 with it active). My DPS is really low (something like 1078 spell damage with 2.8 casts per second), but my gems are not quality and are level 16. Using Concentrated Effect and Faster Casting with Storm Call gives me more damage than with Iron Will. I have to use mana leech in order to keep my mana from running out. I do not use clarity due to the mana cost. My current auras are discipline and tempest shield (tempest shield of course linked to pcoc with 5 max power charges). I have Enduring Cry-Molten Shell-Summon Skeletons-CoDT (all level 5 because). With life leech, I don't think it's really possible to use mana leech without sacrificing dps (would be 650*2.8 per second...).

Since my current chest is 4L (a decent one at that), I tried rolling a 5L oricated ringmail, and I ended up with this:



I lose 900 ES from it, and my mana cost is way too high.

Here is my current skill tree:



I am wanting to be able to farm Piety solo (and within a decent time frame). Is there anything I can do to make this possible without investing something ridiculous?

Take out the 8% Life, 6% ES, 10% Es, ES cd recovery and the light dmg nodes in witch starter area, the life nodes in templar area and Static Blows for now.

Reinvest those points into going up to Deep Thoughts and to the right to Pain Attunement.
Don't forget to take Unnatural Calm on the way.

This will allow you to run all auras at once and give you a constant damage bonus.
Since you farm Piety, the only Chaos Damage you may run into are the exiles anyway, just run across them with a quicksilver or reset instance if you get them.

As for links, use Storm Call - Lightning Penetration - Iron Will - Increased AoE - Conc Effect. This build is not optimized for casting lots of Storm Calls at once, but rather casting a few that deal huge damage, so adding Faster Casting will of course give you huge mana problems.

With all these changes, you should be able to effectively farm Piety by only respeccing a few nodes.

Edit: Rime Gaze would be a cheap way to get a "5l" for Storm Call, if you don't need the resistances of Geofris. Mindspiral is a good helmet too to keep your mana up.
To survive until you have Aegis, you can use a Lifesprig.

Edit: Released a new Passive Tree. After playing for a while i noticed how unreliable crit for Storm Call is, so the builds focus is now on raw damage and cast speed.

Hello i Have some question . I am lvl 74 following the old passive tree and i can´t use determination whitout having only like 60 mana( i use tempest shield, clarity and determination) . I tryed to put 1 % quality in reduced mana but it got worse o.O . I use 3 reduced mana lvl 17/ 18 without quality ( except 1% in one of the three) . My current gear is

Hey, always glad to see people enjoying my build! The "Reduced Mana Cost" from quality on Reduced Mana doesn't apply to mana reservation, so better save your gcp.

You will definitely need Deep Thoughts to make it work with all auras and a 5l/6l storm call.
I'd take out some crit nodes for now, since you only need 5pts to reach Deep Thoughts you could take out the Assassination/Spell Power cluster.

After that, you could also take out Inner Force and progress from PA through Bloodthirst to the Influence cluster. Tested it and it will give you effectively more mana regen, es and armour and 5% less mana reservation on top.

Btw. since you took the crit route (should i re-add this one as an alternative passive tree?), i'd highly advise you to save up for a Divinarius.

Can work, but it will in all situations be a bit squishy unless you have really good mf gear to cap your resistances. In my first MF runs, i had only like 50% all resistances, it was possible to do lunaris runs and lower maps but especially piety's lightning skills could hurt really bad.

Dominus runs are a completely different story though, since it's safer to fight the first three stages in normal gear anyway, and the fourth stage is mostly only phy dmg.

Thanks ! I ll try that out . If i were you i would post the previous build as an alternative route =).But this is your guide not mine hahaha. I´m thinking about the changes you made in order to create this new build(the one that you made for me is amazing but im talking about the one that you change at the guide). I must say it´s good to not have to worry about power charges, but you can´t run 4 auras. This make your armor lower isn´t it ? What about the dps ? Is it higher , lower or the same ? Thanks again for all the helping and attention that you give for all people who follow the guide .I am deciding if i change the build or not . But i must have sure before expend money in regrets for crit and then expend to change all over again hahahaha
