" i have played caster several times and mainly play builds based on elemental damage and know very well the extent of curses , i have been trying to go away from 2-3 which i usually run since nemesis. someone qouting people who just try to be nice in a false manner to make a point is immensely immature. Spell gems shouldnt be so level-dependant. ATM, leveling your spell from 16 to 20 increases damage DRASTICALLY, while taking shitloads of time. And sometimes you even cant find proper spell for sale!
Attack build can just find or craft powerful weapon and have great DPS, while caster cant. IGN: MortalKombat

pretty much , once my gems hit level 16 , i put them on an alt weapon for my main char and level them to 20 that way.
this is particularly annoying when trying to level up empower gems , which take 10 times longer to level . |

Agreed. My facebreaker marauder did more damage at level 50 than my fireball shotgun scion does at 76. I really wanted to make a spell build that felt fun, but waiting 4-5 right clicks to kill a fire resist mob is incredibly boring.

This analysis is pretty spot-on.
I think particularly the fact that spells scale so poorly in early game (compared to alternative leveling options such as 2H spectral throw) is major a detriment to using them. Penetration nodes on the tree would allow a method for non-discharge spells to do real damage to end-game content. |

Those Cast on Crit builds are a result of it being woefully inefficient to cast the spells in a normal way, either you run out of mana or cant cast them fast enough.
Where are the x% of Spell damage is leeched as mana x% of Spell damage is leeched as life nodes Where is that on gear, there is absolutely no reason why not, why casters get to link mana leech and life leech while physical melee gets teh free ride with a 1c unique belt or some magic ring / amulet.
