[1.2.0] Omjak’s guide: Maximizing Dps - MAJOR UPDATE 3. REFINED TREES:NEW PERMA FREEZE TOTEM VARIANT
"I've just tried this blade. It's only marginally faster with one green socket, so for now I'll keep my shield which gives me maxed res. As for the bow, it's not even properly crafted, I was extremely lucky to make it with only one alch :p. Biggest mistake I made for my stuff: missing a 270 dps harbringer bow for 18 chaos >_<. My res are no more capped:

but lioneye's glare is essential for the build to work?
because i found other rare bows with better DPS and minor costs... and if it's essenzial, is more important higher damage or higher attack speed? with 1.8 AS, the mana costs is sustainable? i see your bow is lower speed but high damage |

Lioneye's glare is not essential at all. A high crit harbringer is really the bow to aim for. So you could be fine with the bow you found.
High att speed bows can however be a problem for mana. You'll need quite some mana and mana regen on gear. A surgeon hybrid or mana flask is also strongly recommended. A low level clarity running on life helps a lot as well (see my progression update on page 17). Or you can just run the skills on blood magic but that will cost you one dps support gem. tnx bro, in effect i see that a good dps hardbinger is more expensive than a lioneye with more dps...

" Good news, I found an amulet for 8c It shot my Burning Arrow DPS up from 29k to 32k, and my Split Arrow (w/ chain) is now over 7k. (13k if I put in Pierce just for comparison). And I was still able to get the life leech and strength I require from the slot. The downside is I now have mana pool of just 132. But I level in 39% and can fix that with a 5% reduced mana reservation node, putting off bloodthirst for an extra level. I am gonna keep maligaros on for now as I still have 5200 hp and didn't need resists from the ammy slot as is. But should content get more difficult with the patch, swapping gloves I can add 300hp at any time if needed. I think I am going to stick with burning arrow for now. Single targets still die quickly (30k+ single target is nothing to sneeze at - it's good damage). Charges don't need micro managed, mana leech isn't needed, and the fact it's safer vs phy reflect means I don't have to worry about casting two spells (and use gem slots for them) to kill reflect rares. I won't get to show off some sweet dps number on Frenzy - but in terms of actual gameplay, it's extremely low maintenance and effective. That amulet is decent, and sticks close to what you had before nj.
burning arrow is nice for what you want, but frenzy increases the dps of all your skills. Since your dps is already friggin high, if this works for you then thats great. Don't forget that the burn damage will be significant too (however, i'm not sure exactly how this works.) have you tried added fire damage with fire shot? or does WED give you more? Yeah I have a red gem slot and have tried both WED and Added Fire damage, both leveled. WED gives a little better overall tooltip dps, primarily because of it's interaction with Hatred.
There is definitely some burning damage, but I am not sure how much. I can occasionally notice HP dropping on a white mob, but its not enough to notice it on a yellow. Obviously that effect would be helped more by added fire, but until you mentioned it I hadn't even considered it. well the main point of burning damage is to counter ES regeneration speeds. As to the actual damage, i'm not sure how this is calculated, and don't really have the time to do the research myself xD.

Hello,
Panini gave me a good advice, to follow this guide. I really like it, very fun to play. But, even after reading all those pages, there is one major thing i've problem with : surviving... As a new player in this game, i don't know every tips that could help me on some hard situations, so if someone could give me some advices to better play this build.. I've reached piety in mercy, not without any difficulties, but i made it (died 4 times on her) But i can't do this damn septre of god, i couldnt even reach the waypoint.. There are always some magic caster ( the one with the shield ), or those damn jumping things who take me out. How do you guys make it ? I'm actually playing maps until i find a way to finish mercy. If i'm facing strong oppenents in maps, i can still play the hit and run.. a bit coward yes, but it work ! But against some monsters it doesn't work, so the only thing i can do, is dying.. I have 3,8k life, 500 arm, 2,5k evade, resist (70,75,75), lvl 74 I did what i could for the stuff, as new, don't have much orbs, so can't afford anything..
Spoiler
I don't think it's coming from my equipement, it seems it is not that bad.. So what do you do to survive ? Immortal call more usefull for the reflect damage right ? Sometimes the totem serve as a decoy, but when it's down in one hit, i die a few sec after Hit and run, but when there is nowhere to run ? Thank for the help ! |

there are several things i think will help you. From what i see your skills are not properly linked. Try to get your setup to the "5L" gem setup i posted in the guide. This means u'll need pierce, gmp, la, Life gain on hit (very important), and blood magic on one of your 5Ls. Use your frenzy for another 5L, and move the totem to a 4L. If you can get the LA setup alone, you will do much better ( however, work to get all of it). Try to setup "immortal call" for "Cast when Damage taken" if you can. if you do the "library" quest you will get a free Cast when damage taken. Taking temporal chains will also help you.
The biggest thing to do when you get this setup, is to Keep Shooting. If you can keep shooting LA into minion packs, then you can continue to instantly regenerate your health. Work on your potions also, try to get Health ones with huge regen and the "panic" mod on them (instant on low life). As for The dominus fight: it is easy to die, and easy to live. This fight is a fight of attrition, you have to destroy all his minions quickly and then take out dominus. Once you actually get dominus to fight you, You have to watch him and his motions before he attacks and react to them. For example, when he lifts his hand up into the air and shouts "touch of god" or something like that with you directly next to him, it means hes about to crush you with lightning: run. Position yourself in a way that will either put you behind the center of the map so you can avoid his lightning wave (i have no idea what its really called) or behind the sort of pillar thing at the bottom of the area (which will also block his lightning wave). Also, shoot LA into his totems when he has them up so you can gain back regen while also destroying them. The second phase of dominus is tricky, but its slightly easier in a sense. Stay close to him, if you run away from him you will die during his "acid rain". After his acid rain stops, continue to attack him how you see fit until he dies. At that point your done. Its going to be a long fight for you, from what i can tell from your gear it will take a bit of effort on your part. If you can't solo him, do him in a party. There is no shame in partying to do it (in fact, dominus is one of the reasons we have party's ;)) IGN: Omjak
