[2.6] Yalani's Low Life Righteous Fire Build
Yalani, I love your guide. It's extremely well laid out and well thought through. I also love how you go into detail on different variants instead of just saying X is the best and focusing on that.
I've been really enjoying trying to theorycraft and min/max this guy. Your guide has been quite helpful. Couple of questions for you specifically relating to the "4.4 Shadow Trickster - Without Shavronne's Revelation", because that's the build I chose to go. Please note that I'm currently level 77 and still getting enough currency to afford Shav's, let alone all the other expensive items. 1) Why do you get Quick Recovery near MOM instead of the 3 regen nodes in templar next to sanctity? It would be +0.4% life regen, +5% mana regen, -14% life. Do you value the small dps increase of the increased HP over the extra life regen? The +life regen is pretty huge. I personally get both. Maybe I should trade out Quick Recovery for some 6% ES nodes. 2) Especially with the nerfs to Whirling Blades, why wouldn't you go Swift Killer, over Walk of the Aether? Swift killer gives you a 20% attack speed, plus a free 16% MORE multiplier on RF. You lose 4% attack speed, 8% mana, and free ability costs. I ended up getting +1 frenzy from the bandit quests for a 20% MORE multiplier. Are the frenzy charges too hard to keep up in practice? Is the free movement abilities actually needed? It doesn't cost much. Am i missing you getting Frenzy charges some other way? 3) Why don't you go for the flask cluster, Alchemist? Seeing as we don't use life flasks, we can really, really abuse this cluster. Getting it means: +1 max Lightning Resist (Vinktar) +1 max Fire Resist (Dying Sun) +9% Area Effect (Dying Sun) +12% Damage (Sulphur) 30% Evasion (Stibnite) +12% duration 3.1) If we get the flask nodes, then Conqueror's Potency becomes amazing. It brings us to having 38% increased flask effect, which means we now get +2% max resistances from our flasks plus all the other nice stuff it does with our auras and curses. 3.2) If we did get flask nodes, how would that change up your flask setup? Would you recommend getting things like Granite and Jade to really abuse the +38% increase of both the intrinsic amount and the suffix? I wonder if it would change up which prefix we would go too. 3.3) What nodes would you drop/change up if we went flask cluster? (can you tell I really like this cluster?) 4) I'm attempting to create a variant that has a good single target damage without sacrificing much, if any RF damage. Can you help out here? I'm *not* trying to make a build that focuses on the spells, just uses them to speed up killing bosses. I'm sure you've played around with this. I don't know what makes sense late game though. This is what I've been thinking of trying in my chest piece. - Flame Surge + Faster Cast + Spell Echo + Fire Pen + Conc Effect + Ele focus -- I liked the play style and the damage is incredibly good, but it means giving up EE. -- I don't want to give up EE, so I've been looking for good ways of keeping it up. -- Maybe a totem that casts like something like ball lightning? -- Totem with Blade fall or Blade Vortex with phys->lightning support? -- Simple Ancestral Totem with Increased attack speed? - Spell Totem + Flame Surge + Faster Cast + Fire Pen + Conc Effect + Ele focus -- I'd keep up EE with Cyclone. -- Would this cause EE to flip to the bad side too often? especially if I need to dodge away? - Self Cast Scorching Ray + Controlled Dest + Ele Focus + Inc Burn + Rapid Decay + Empower -- Hated the standstill play style. Defeats the whole benefit of using RF: incredibly mobility while doing a lot of damage. -- Also makes you want to stay at a distance, in which case you don't get your RF damage. -- Does increase RF damage, which is nice - Spell Totem + Scorching Ray + Controlled Dest + Ele Focus + Inc Burn + Empower -- Haven't tried it yet, but seems good. Lets me get in close to apply EE and dodge, while doing good supplementary damage while buffing RF. - Scorching Ray + CWC + non-fire spells -- This was pretty atrocious, but I figured I'd try it anyway - Blade Fury + CWC + Flame Surge + Supports -- This was actually better than I expected, but it still felt very clunky. 5) I'm using Doryani's Catalyst. I wanted to try to abuse the level 20 ele prolif it has. I'm currently running CWDT + Tempest Shield + Cold Snap. Thought was that Cold snap would trigger EE, freeze and prolif enemies. This seems to work decently well. Tempest shield would help proc EE, spread Shock stacks (no Vinktars yet), add block chance and help keep up Ele Overload. Not sure if it's worth it. Maybe low level CWDT + Tempest Shield, and Power Charge on Crit, or Increase Crit? I lose shock stacking then most likely, but keeps up 3% block and Ele Overload up more often. 6) Btw, I've been using Ascent from flesh with Voidwalker. They've been very good budget items. Ascent from flesh is almost worth it by itself with a Quartz flask. Once I get a Shav's, ill work on upgrading these pieces as well. Last edited by Xallion#3440 on Apr 12, 2017, 4:03:52 PM

" This is what I have learned now too. I'm 90 1/2 and want to do t16. Guardians, SHaper and it's not looking good. Tried Dark Forest and had to walk away on the boss. Trickster regen isn't really very good beyond not taking damage from RF. I'm feeling like I wasted my time. Do I have a good map clearer? sure but that's what I had before I rerolled. I wanted a end game character and now I'm stuck with a legacy shavs ring and not sure where to go next. In a best case scenario, Trickster can do these bosses but then there's reality. I don't have 19k ES and obscenely expensive rare shield etc. Last edited by DamageIncorporated#7815 on Apr 12, 2017, 2:05:38 PM

Would the Guardian version of this build be able to clear the Hall of Grandmasters map?

" Fair enough. I wasn't trying to put your guide in a negative light, I was just trying to elaborate some things that affects the 'end result' differently in contrast to how newer players can sometimes take what's listed on a guide without a grain of salt. This has all helped a lot, thanks for all the advice.
I sold off some stuff I farmed and I'm sitting on 10ex now so I might try out guardian if top end gear is really, really good on them. Especially if I don't have to put 2ex into the ring, and I already have a presence. |

" Top end gear is really good and scales both survivability and defense on an RF build (usually). So it's well worth the money and if you like RF I'd say go for it. Endgame rings is unnecessary, my buddy farmed Shaper with a 13k ES RF with two completely shit resist rings just fine, he didn't even bother wasting money on the %ES enchants. :D If your goal is to just want to hit guardians/shaper/atziri reliably. There are other builds much more suited for that purpose with about a fraction of the cost. Mortem ST comes to mind. It's about the cheapest reliable Shaper killer you can get nowadays. |

Has anyone tested out a 20/20 Essence drain gem linked to 20/20 CWDT? I'm in the process of leveling one up now to test out, but it seems like it would be a nice boost to ES regeneration upon taking damage.
Edit: Just tested it out with some mid level gems, it works quite well actually! It was giving me around an extra 475 es regen per second with only a lvl 13 gem when CWDT procs. Interesting... Edit2: the extra regen does not persist once the enemy that is hit by it dies, so this is fairly useless for normal mobs, but actually quite great for boss fights, I think I will replace my stone golem and portal gem with this combo for harder bosses. So I have been going back and forth between wanting to do pure RF and a scorching ray RF. I realize this is a pure RF guide but I was hoping for some opinions. Feels like SR is a nice add for - fire res, doesn't screw with EE and 1 point for PA getting a bunch of spell damage seems nice. However I am struggling for gem slots and maybe that is the problem with it. I have mostly made things work I think but I was looking for preferences or thoughts about the differences.
I want to get enduring cry in for charges and for the uber accendency because it feels like 7% block is not great and the 50% for a second is very unreliable. But I think that means switching to an unset ring and I wanted to put a +3 for PoF. Thanks for thoughts and ideas. |

With the right setup (focused a bit more on attack speed I guess?), is it possible to clear map almost as fast as guardian than trickster.
I was decided to go trickster next league, because I really dont like the idea of moving slowly, but then I read this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/637p3p/trickster_or_guardian_for_ll_righteous_fire/ and it seems like "a lot" of people prefer guardian. " That thread + read some of the explanations in this thread on page 127 I have leveled and played both variants and, me personally, prefer guardian by a longshot. |
