[Strongest Solo Variation: Projectile Madness Spectres] LMP/GMP Ice Spear 2x Totem 2x Curse 3x Traps

I just hit 43 and Dropped GMP. I use Ice spear with totem,Crit damage and GMP. My dps is down to 61.7 ! I know it's the damage for each spear, but is it supposed to be THAT low ?
just got my 5L now and i am at 280 dps with gmp but i dont seem to do much dmg if i compare that to any ranger. they outdps me by far.
which is the best combination for 5L?
currently im running GMP-Totem-FasterCast-Coldpenetration-Icespear

you dont do much dmg if u compare to any ranger? how are you comparing? do you have the same gear? do u just read the paper DPS and compare or do u actually see them solo end game maps and then u compare the time to clear and difficulty? when people say they compare to other builds its never an even comparison where most of the factors are equal.

And dont use cold penetration, if u have the luxury of 5L get reduced mana or increase critical damage. the whole point of double+ curse is to reduce enemy resist to zero so i am not sure what the use of penetration is when enemies have no resist.

incr crit dmg instead of cold pene?

if you cast ele weakness+frostbite
How long will it be before you can confirm/deny if the luxury version really is better?

never. i dont have time to play a new class/build.

it's up to the readers whether they pick up the enthusiasm and courage to try things out themselves. And in that process they will learn far more than i can ever explain to them. Maybe they will make a much better build than i did using mine as a foundation. then they can reap the rewards of their own creativity and perseverance. Perhaps, make a new thread of their discovery and share it with others.

Just hit 61 with this build - I'm loving it. I'm having some trouble on Merciless with some indoor maps with clusters of rare enemies sometimes, but the rest of the game has been a breeze.

Anywho, wanted to ask (and sorry if it has already), why don't you recommend Critical Weakness? I found a ring that lets me use a grand total of 3 curses, and I'm pretty bad at the mechanics of this game, but a flat 8% increase in crit chance and 62% extra crit damage seems really nice, especially since Ice Spear crits from far away pretty much guaranteed.

Or do you think Elemental Weakness, Frostbite and Projectile Weakness are all better options?

Edit: Hopefully I can just find the boots, too, and have 4 god damn curses.

ok heres the deal with curses. I might post this on the front page when i have time because people gona be asking this again, i promise you.

First, your DPS does not come from holy sh*t paper DPS and spell dmg % stack. Your DPS comes from 10+attacks per second (or 20 if u have really high DPS) + guaranteed crit and high crit multipliers + mob's taking more damage from your curses instead of you doing more dmg. This is why paper DPS (lol pathetic sub 300 DPS) is so deceptive if you do not THINK what is really going on and do the math.

now let me ask you a simple question, do you think its better to have mob's damage reduction lowered by 50% or your total damage increased by 50%?

With that said, in merciless some mobs start to have around 50% resist or higher for a particular element. Other mobs stay the same. Mobs resist can go negative, and as I have discussed with the game developer in chat, the elemental resist deduction has a much greater effect from positive to zero than from zero to negative.

Therefore, the focus of your curse will be 1) reduce mob's resist to zero so your ice spears do true damage 2) use most effective curse to increase the damage mobs take 3) protect yourself or give yourself utility in specific situations (defense, flask recovery, etc.)

So, if a mob has 70 cold resist, I will need both elemental weakness and frostbite to reduce it to zero (and a bit more) because i dont want to take a 30% dmg hit with only one curse. However, if a mob has only 40 cold resist, i only need to use the frostbite curse and can use a much more dmg effective critical weakness curse which grants me 100% crit dmg at higher lvls. This is alot because ice spears shoot so many times and have guaranteed crit at second form (also a chance to crit+pierce in the first form).

Of course, if i am getting raped by flickers or haste spammers, i use TC instead and forgo the extra dmg. or i go dmg anyway to nuke them down rather than dragging the fights out. The decision is up to you, ultimately, you have so many curses at your disposal you can use whatever you want.

What is your opinion on the elemental proliferation support skill for the last slot in a 5 link?
Has anyone worked out a good Life hybrid, I think it would be less gear dependent right? Maybe not as optimal, but easier to achieve.
hi, just wanted to drop by and say thanks for sharing this build, Im currently 47 on act 3 and having a blast with this build

What stat do I need to have to get increase damage with traps? This morning I was able to loot fire trap with quality 15% and it does tremendous damage
