[Strongest Solo Variation: Projectile Madness Spectres] LMP/GMP Ice Spear 2x Totem 2x Curse 3x Traps
I played this build in CB and loved it. I made this the first character today in OB and now past level 30 (and midway in Act 3), there is no spell totem in sight. Due to the way the build progress, my witch is having a hard time keeping up with the mobs.
I'd think making it the first character is a mistake and I should have made an easier to level character like a marauder, then level a cold totem witch only when I get a spell totem/LMP somehow. If anyone knows which quest gives a spell totem, please leave a note here. |

" I'm not an experienced player myself, but I can think of 3 distinct reasons as to why 2 totems would be better than one totem and you casting the spells. 1. Skill gems, and sockets on items: If you want you and a totem casting ice spears (or any other spell) you would need 2 piece of gear with the right color sockets linked, one for your ice spear with the totem support (and anything else you might want with them GMP, faster casting, cold penetration, etc.) and another without the totem support in order to be able to cast the spell yourself. This way you would have more restriction on gear, and if you want quality gems, you would need 2 of them. 2. Resource management: A spell totem support gem has a mana cost multiplier of 250% (could be different in OB, it was 250% in CB) and lasts 30 seconds on max level. You essentially save mana if you cast a second totem for 2,5 times the mana cost instead of repeatedly casting the spell yourself. 3. Control: While you can't deal damage that doesn't mean you can't do anything useful. You can summon minions, cast curses or frost wall to help your totems or party members. If you don't need any of that you could still manually dodge projectiles coming at you, or pick up stuff form the ground. Last edited by Approximation#0051 on Jan 24, 2013, 11:54:29 AM

Is it still useful for partying?

What's the point of taking Chaos Inoculation while you are not taking Pain Attunement?
This question could be stupid one, but sorry I'm beginner :P It would be appreciated if you could explain for me, thank you :) |

" When you have CI and your life is 1, you never really have low life. I believe low life is considered 30% or less, or something like that, (someone correct me if I'm wrong). When you have 1 life, you will never have less than that 30%, so PA will never kick in. |
|
" Oh I see! After taking CI, your life become 1/1 instead of 1/100, right? Now I get that part, but I still don't understand the use of CI in this build... What does 1 health do in this build?? |
|
" Correct, your life becomes 1/1. The benefit of CI is complete immunity to chaos damage. The downside is virtually no life. Simply put, you are trading all your life for chaos immunity. |
