Dec 19: 2h Solo HC

Surprised I finished 5th witch at #78. Downed Merveil right before the league ended (no guts, no glory!).

I think I've come up with a really strong HC-Witch strategy. It's obviously not as epic as the #1 witch's, but I lived with only a few close calls. I practiced it a few times last night and was surprised how well it worked, so I tried for this race. It ended up working very, very well.

However, I was more interested in seeing the limitations of the character, so I did Fairgraves, did Brutus a second time (portal didn't expire, so was able to go to a previous instance), and spent a little longer in some areas than needed fighting rares. I'd say that amount of time this race was the difference between being 5th Witch vs 4th Witch, which is minimal, considering how few witches there were.

However, I have no real farming strategy worked out yet, so once that is done, I suspect the strategy will be a lot more powerful and be able to hit higher levels. I'll be making a video soon with race footage, and maybe some people can help me out!

I just noticed. Really strange, I see a Witch top with 25 lvl, than next witch 19 lvl on place ~50. I want to hear comments of the winner, plz. An intresting situation!

I think I was level 25.5 or something.. It is all about knowing exactly what to do as fast and efficiently as possible without doing anything that can get you killed. I think there were some other witches but maybe they died..

I also got that wand right when I reached western forest. Exactly the right amount of spell damage I needed since without it then monsters will need an extra hit at level 21. The casting speed is also a really nice bonus.

I hope there are more of these types of races. I think 2 hours is the perfect balance of risk/reward and sitting there for an extended period of time. Unfortunately I have work at this time and was unable to participate :(.

Race started well, move boots and adrenaline flask from hailrake then progressed normally from there. Had one terminal desync in coves, not dangerous but it was clear id probably eventually die if i didnt log as i was taking damage from a pack repeatedly attacking where id been a few seconds ago. The bail cost less than 1 minute so the effect on my final standing was negligible.

What did have a major effect on my final standing was the fact that i thought i had my main attack + support in a link for 20 mins and turned out not to, which explained why my killspeed felt subpar and also why i was 2 levels behind the lead at a time when im usually one level behind at most. Not the first time ive misread a link or lack thereof, but i hadnt messed up like that in a race before and the realization was pretty annoying.

Drops were good, had few scrolls but plenty of trans and chances, as well as a regal i never got round to using. Brutus was np as usual in non-turbo. Managed 75 cold res for merveil which meant just tanking her down with only 1 portal needed to refresh mana flasks. Grinded western from 1:15 to the finish.

I did really bad yet surprisingly that was my best performance, #30 overall and #11 shadow.

Spent 10 embarrassing minutes on Upper Prison tryin to level up from 8 to 9 to recharge my flasks as i only had 1 portal. Finished first act on 50~something minutes... gotta improve alot still!
