Err, they are totally different builds man, with different main skills, different defences, etc etc etc. Not comparable at all. Which is "better" (whatever that means) - that's for you to decide, sorry!

Hi!
The build looks really awsome, and I really want to try it out!
But it looks quite expensive because of the required Cast On Dmg Taken gems and the required uniques.
Sadly Im quite poor (approx 3 ex worth of currency AND items together), So im worried I wont be able to fund this build.
Should I farm with a high lvl char and get some currency before starting with this build?

Sorry for my English.

Hi Swizz, thanks for reading the build.

You don't need to think of this build as *only* viable if you have my gear. It is viable well before then, it just becomes both extremely powerful and resilient with this gear.

With your currency I would focus on buying 1) a good dagger with high DPS (you don't need crit chance specifically, so that should make it cheaper than these current flavour-of-the-month cast-on-crit daggers) 2) a high (250+) ES shield (preferably with resistances and/or life) and 3) the Lightning Coil unique (which you can get for probably less than an exalt, unlinked).

Otherwise, just try to stack life and resists on gear - and ES/mana if you can.

You don't need Abyssus until later when you really want to go over 20k dps on Lightning Strike.

With a high ES shield, a good dagger and Lightning Coil, this build will give you really good DPS (probably around the 10k mark) and great survivability once you take EB and Mind over Matter and at least a dozen life nodes.

Hope this helps.

thank you very much for your answer.
you convinced me to try the build now ^^
but I still have one more question.
which path should I take with my passives and what keystones should I go to first?
Im pretty much asking for a lvling guide :D

thnx again for the help, and sorry for my bad english

My pleasure. Take a look at my short post, four down from the top, on page 5. I don't have a levelling guide yet, but I've given some guidance in the post noted.

Thanks,

Updated OP to give you a sense for how amazing MoM can be.
OK, time for some efficiency standards! (Because I finally opened my messages folder).

CwDT Gem setup:

(3L) Level 1 CwDT + Level 5 Enduring Cry + Level 5 Enfeeble (Max Quality preferred)

Reasoning: You want the DR, and the higher levels have relatively marginal returns.

(3L) Level X CWdT + Lvl X Increased Duration + Level X Immortal Call

Reasoning: You want effective immunity to physical damage (this technically means lightning coil is optional when you reach it). This helps get you there, you want it proccing often enough for full uptime, but not so often that you can't build charges.

Gearing: Since you have Eldritch battery your primary defensive rolls on your non-Chest non-Helm gear should be using Es Hybrids with the following

+ Local (Energy Shield)
+ Life
+ Local (Defense)

Why? This trades roughly half the potential of your hybrid defense (your choice) for the largest mana multipliers in game (giving up to 400 mana per piece in 4 slots). After this (for maximal returns) you will want some amount of bonus mana, why?

Because you want to run three auras. I personally recommend having between 30% and 60% bonus mana. You can do this by taking the hybrid ES nodes to gain a nice multiplier to both of your defenses. The endgoal is to have a (very large) amount of unreserved mana. If you can get to 43% of your total health as available mana you will be an absolute beast.

I've updated OP slightly to also note you can link Endurance Charge on Melee Stun if you want to perma-proc your end charges (for the loss of some DPS). The ECMS support skill surprised me by procing with the projectile attack component of Lightning Strike - pretty cool.
Is there any way to incoporate more active skills in this build?
Using only one damaging active skill sounds quite boring :S

Sorry for my bad english.
OP updated for new main skill gem combo. Replaced FA with MPD given MPD applies to LS' projectiles.

And yes, you could easily incorporate another active skill. You could easily replace one of the 4L CODT combinations with a single target Dual Strike setup. Remember, you can still cast Decoy Totem and Ele Weakness (for example) manually in my setup, so its not quite one skill spam.
