Itemlevel on forums

Scrotie's point is that a system which categorically organizes buyouts erodes the barter economy. I don't think he would mind an indexing site, solely for the purpose of looking up which rare items exist and who possesses them--this facilitates trading. Buyouts remove haggling (you know, like "hey I got this sweet ring but it doesn't have the mods I need, you have that sweet ring that doesn't have mods you need, let's talk business") and reinforces price tags. Price tags reinforce orbs as bank investments rather than crafting materials.

The notion of a barter system like this, without using orbs as currency, is ludicrous. You have items that are good for specific builds which have specific defensive choices (life vs ES and such) and are missing specific resists and an item might fill that hole. The odds of two people who just happen to have items that are roughly equal in value and that perfectly fit each other's builds/resist needs/defensive choices/personal choices/etc may as well be 0%. Without a site like xyz it can be difficult to even find the correct item you're looking for, and you expect us to find the correct item we're looking for, while finding someone who happens to need a roughly equal value item I possess? With zero tools available to actually find said person between the mass of trade spam? If this is the goal, you may as well remove trading from the game.

There's a reason we moved on from the barter system in real life. Can you imagine going to buy a car? "Hi, I'd like to buy a car, I have an Xbox, a big screen TV, a bed and a few dozen eggs for trade, let's make a deal!"

Well reason bartening is a part of the game, is to go away from the gold-stash farmers and instead use spendable items that may go further on as currency OR being used on owned items.
Therefore, since all currencies may drop in all instances/levels (If I'm not wrong?) a level 1 first-timer may find currency for decent gear if really lucky, and players on high end maps may not find anything worth the time looting. It makes it random, which is more fair to all.

But yeah, finding gear is not the easiest thing to do. But not impossible. And we don't barter items to items neccessery as you stated. You trade items for orbs/currency.
Finding someone with the gear you need, and just paying the price is not that "hard", just need to give it some time and effort.

But I'm 100% supporting the idea of an external site that hosts "acutions" or equal, like auction house on Diablo3 . Don't missunderstand my intentions here.

But I don't really find the idea of having non-gold currency in the game, I actually prefers it, since rich players cannot just stack gold AND gems/orbs. Here they spend "gold" to get better gear, or loose it by trading items.
Overkill is underrated.

I use poe.xyz on a nearly daily basis so this suggestion gets a +1 from me.

If they show the itemlevel on forum (and index it so), they would remove one part of interaction between seller and customer.

Trading shouldn't be easy. Everyone should have the chance to make a great deal or to fail and make bad deals. If we erode this and open the gate for indexer like xyz, we are only a few steps away to implement an ah via a fansite.

Most ppl will say: Okay where is the big deal, just don't use it. But the majority will use it and this will affect every user in the game.

I really don't support this idea!

Here's why this suggestion thread is getting so many bumps:
Spoiler

However, I implore GGG to not let this happen. Addictive, powerful, and alluring as it may be, xyz.is' is PoE's equivalent of Diablo 3's Auction House, and its power must be curtailed and, if possible, reduced at every opportunity. In no instance should any effort be made to buff it. Frankly, the game would be better off if the site didn't exist; without searchable buyouts, item valuation would become difficult again, minimizing the impacts of currency determinism in the game.

also making it near impossible to find an item that one needs.

I remember, before using xyz, spending literaly a whole week just to find a 5link that hadn't been sold :S
And although i have upped the idea, I also get where you guys are coming from, and also agree. It's honestly a hard decision, it will help the individual user, yes. But it's also helping the big fat-cats and gold farmers or hoarders, RMT alike. Guess we have to wait and see what GGG thinks.

However, searching what people have, and even just giving a ign or link to their shop is honestly enough for me. rather than having to look for endless hours through hundreds of shops when the person with the item for me may not even be online at the time, or regularly bump..

actual high end players.....+1

i hope u get some ad banners and ur able to support this sites maintanance because its an incredible site so versatile and its no wonder all the top players use it

i hate dealing with ppl in this game..some of them are fucking clueless on how to barter...ill say to em " i offer x chaos/exalt..or let me know a figure" then they go "lol wht a bad offer...bye" or dont reply

i mean fuck sake i give an offer and even say if its to low(wich it rarely is as ive played the game long enough to know base prices" let me know a ball park figure....so he just responds with im a low baller and wht not....and i take my pools of exalts else where....then a few days latter hes sold it for f all....kudos to this site for letting me not have to deal with as many retards as i usually do
I’d rather die on my feet
Than live my life on my knees

+1 to add itemlevel on linked items on forum !
Definately a +1 for getting the ilvl shown on the forums (even if it is just in the data-part of the javascript).

Awesome tool, another idea from xyz to make the tool better and the game more enjoyable for me.

Thanks!
having to spend hours to find a single piece of equipment is the worst.

there should be easier ways to get needed items. There is a demand for these tools for a reason.

-Players don't want to waste time
-Players don't want to get ripped off
-Players want to play the game how they want to play it with minimal interference from designers.

Some guy tried to sell me a lvl8 rare amulet for the vendor recipe with 4% IIR and pretty much nothing else. I offered him 10 Chromatics, feeling generous. He replied "lol, 8c". Stupid people must be eradicated. This is the tool, the time is now.
