Far earlier in this thread I had a substantial degree of opposition to this idea. However, I've been thinking about it, and I'm not against this anymore, and think poe.xyz.is should be free to do whatever it wants.
Given the intensity of my earlier posts, I feel a need to explain. The reason why I changed my mind was that someone pointed out the old-school Magic the Gathering price guides from back in the 90s and early 2000s. As a former tournament Magic player I definitely got the reference, and it's kind of a ghetto version of what poe.xyz.is tries to do with searchable buyouts — you can look up the community consensus on what a card/item is worth. Now I never felt like the Magic price guides were much of a problem, primarily due to the fact they were often simply wrong. Good cards were undervalued, and horrible cards were overvalued. I don't feel this is something which happens in Path of Exile very often. This is a problem in PoE and a good thing in Magic, because a huge amount of fun is to be had in trading in situations where you know something is good, and before the community reacts to that knowledge, it undervalues it, giving you opportunities for profit. However, who's responsible for that? Is it the price guide publishers? That's when I realized it wasn't; the publishers, no doubt, were trying to give the best indication of real value. Instead, what made the price guide occasionally wrong was that the creators of the game were able to genuinely mislead the community consensus onto the real value of certain cards. It was the creators of the game itself making valuation truly difficult which led to this beneficial trading situation. As such, attempting to fault or hinder poe.xyz.is for displaying the community consensus is nothing bad, and actually a good thing. Obscuring the community consensus from individuals isn't what's important here, but instead creating a situation where the unobscured consensus on the value of an item is nevertheless wrong. In order to accomplish that, GGG needs to work on itemization balance to make it harder to tell which items are truly amazing, and which are overrated. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. +1 to adding itemlevel to forums. sites like poexplorer and poe.xyz.is are nigh on essential tools for finding the items you want

I'd prefer the implementation of a decent trading system including visible ilvls over new "end game" content at this point.

My seggustion: to show the i-lvl in the stats screen under the stats on the bottom (or on the top under the item name)
So even in IGN trades the buyer can see the ilvl before they get scammed. And a shurtcut in game would be nice: /ilvl so we dont have to enter everytime /itemlevel its too long :P |
