I'm a volunteer moderator (unpaid, not official staff) on one of the Garena forums for League of Legends. Based on insider information and from various ex-staff, at least for a certain Garena office, the staff there are unprofessional, corrupt, lazy, outright ignore community feedback (except when it benefits them), and see money as their first goal. My own ability to moderate the forums has been severely curtailed by their outright refusal to address the numerous issues I and others of my ilk have raised so many times.
Singapore's LoL team is set up in such a way that it does not face strong opponents. The reason is ostensibly because they would crush opposition, but closer scrutiny (many by several top players) suggests Garena, having invested significant resources into advertising and sponsoring the team, is reluctant to face the possibility of the team losing. This suggests Garena values several things over integrity, none of which are good things for a company to hold. There are numerous other things I can tell you are true but you'll have to take me at my word for those (for example, starting lucky draws for random community members to win prizes, but creating smurfs to fill up 3 out of the 5 winners - p.s. was really obvious). All in all, Garena is a shitty company. The forums right now have degenerated into /sp/ tier shitposting thanks to Garena outright refusing to address community concerns. A significant portion of my time moderating the forums is spent deleting shitposts (there is no sign up security either despite us telling them they needed to implement it for over HALF A YEAR, so someone who gets banned can just come back in 1 minute to shitpost again. Oh, but there's only one staff member who can issue bans, so bans take forever to implement unless they directly insult staff members. Lol?) PoE staff, you guys have the best intentions, but I feel that you should know Garena is far from the angel it seems to be. The ONLY region of Garena I would say has been doing an okay job is Garena Taiwan. " Step 1: Sell 'LIMITED EDITION SKINS NEVER SOLD AGAIN BUY NOW OR ELSE' Step 2: Sell the same skins two months later for cheaper than the previous time Step 3: Ignore ensuing shitstorm Step 4: ??? Step 5: Profit! So to PoE staff: Do you REALLY want a company like that publishing your game? I'd highly suggest you handle it yourself (though the decision at the end of the day is yours). P.S. eventually there was a refund, but only because myself and my ilk badgered the staff long and hard for it. Even then, it was VERY grudgingly given and the terms included taking the skin away (when really, it should have been just the cost differential refunded as part of a goodwill measure. But Garena and goodwill measures go together like peanut butter and dynamite.) P.P.S. Just in case, I'd like to address this to whichever Garena staff sees this: I don't really care if you fire me. I'm still moderating solely out of altruistic desire because you assholes take forever to delete shitposts. I would say more, but there have been many good threads on this forum of how ridiculous this is. I kind of believe it though, i still remember when you guys added that logo footprint. LOL.

Benefit your budget? most people around those places are pretty poor and im sure they wont be interested in wasting cash which they need for food in favor of a computer game
also their site design as i checked looks very simmilar to those cheap bright and cartoonish hardcore fantasy korean MMOs I'll also join those guys which believe that "Garena" is a poor choice for a publisher had some bitter experience with em. |
