EK is a projectile. It's not an attack. It's a spell.

In the original post, there are a few mistakes that have been corrected by others in later posts. Mind Drinker is one of them.

I've spent about 30 chromes so far still not getting 2G1R on my dagger, lol. =[

Anyways, noticed in Donald's shield gear layout, he swapped immortal call for determination on his level 1 cwdt setup. If you have 2 auras running (grace & hatred), will all 3 auras then, be up?

i see other people posting their passive trees, that say they are in 75+ maps, yet they also have mind drinker on their passive tree?

i have around 12 k armor with grace, 3.6 k HP with my main gear
resis most capped out

- i can tell you dominus in residence map i cant beat, crematorium boss i cant beat, piety shrine i did not try and 78 map bosses i did not try.

- the rest of bosses i can kill without issues, sometimes i get owned by spidy in jungle but there is a way on how to kill that biach!!!!

- my tree i have respeeced a bit and went for some more HP i have taken out some crit multi and crit chance nodes which i will add in future.


- if u ask me... with my currant stats and gear i can clear all map level mobs..however some endbosses i have to skip as they hit very hard :))

2k hp and 2k ES,
maxed resists
18k armor (grace + determination)
66& block rate with Aegis Aurora

I run a similar passive tree using a shadow.
I have no problem in clearing speed but find it hard to survive in hard-hitting bosses like dominus.

I have a question regarding the gears for this build. I checked a lot of posts for the gears and it seems that nobody is using the diamond rings(the ones that grant you global critical chance).

I want to know if the diamond rings would help in triggering the EK with ST or Cyclone. Since I want to use the shield build and Crit chance is something I need badly.

There seems to be disagreement on Ethereal Knives. Some searching brings up a lot of answers that says that it is, in fact, a projectile attack and is affected by projectile damage% nodes including Invalesco's EK Guide.

This is further supported by the fact that increased quality of the gem increases % projectile damage.

So I am curious as to what projectile rules apply to EK and what don't. It seems that for the most part, all the projectile rules should.

The rules are simple.

All "Projectile Damage" boosts EK.
All "Spell Damage" boosts EK.
No "Projectile Attack" boosts EK, because nothing in POE is both a spell and an attack.

Attacks always use weapon damage, accuracy, and can be blocked & evaded.
Spells don't use weapon damage, and cannot be evaded, and can only be blocked by spell block.

Point Blank therefore doesn't help EK, because it says specifically Projectile Attack, not simply Projectile Damage.
Also, I'm 99% sure all the physical damage increase with weapons doesn't help either.

GGG is pretty precise about these terms.
