[1.3]Cold Witch guide for beginners (Lvl 1 to Atziri)
Hi BadaBing, I am wondering if you have any suggestions on the flasks? I guess one mod for life flask is the "instant recovery"... But I am not sure about others...

they are no perfect, but your potions should look more or less like this. one thing to keep in mind, removes bleeding is important, but not on your quicksilver. you run to a pack, start shooting - and then you realize you ran to the pack and have no more quicksilvers, and the yellow mob is a corrupting blood. then youre effed, so roll removes bleeding on a life flask. |

" - Granite Flask with increased armour (don't roll incr. armour on life/mana as the effect will end as soon as you are healed/your mana is full) - Remove Bleeding on a life/mana flask - Remove burning/dispel frozen for CI, life builds might get away without the antifreeze. - Have one Topaz flask with dispel shocked ready when facing piety, vaal (regular + map) or heading through places with lightning mages (battlefront for example). - One panicked life flask with instant recovery is good as an oh shit button. It's nice if you could get "recharges 1 charge when you deal a critical strike" as a second mod so they refill quicker, but stuff like increased movement speed is also fine. Hallo,
i have a question to the damage this build can do. Ok, my FP is atm Level 17 and my gear is "normal" but if i see other chars i have the feeling the damage of my char or the build it self is a bit weak. If i have a look at the charsheet i have around 1k Damage (build like in this thread). Is it low or is it in the endgame normal and we life only for the freez? Thanks. |
|
i had 2k tool tip dps on my FP at level 89 nemesis.
so having "low" dmg is fine, dont worry about your damage :) |
|
thank you, this helps me. Now i can sleep well. :)
It is sometimes not nice to see other chars who kill a blue mob in about 1-5 sec. where i need 10 secs. (without curse) or the this 5-10k buildings. Now i have to work on my manaproblem (2 araus + fp all the time without flask) and on the critchance. Ice spear is awesome (for frezzes) but slow and small area of damage. A FP with about 40% critchance would be nice, maybe i could creat a build.. Oh, got an other question. How much resis should i have? I know, more is better but a point the increase not the cost worth. Is chaos res. a must have or a nice to have? Or should i go for life (life build) and int? Or is the half/half way the best? Our damage is avarage, maybe is survive the best way? Last edited by the_Arkain#5116 on Mar 28, 2014, 1:56:38 PM

" 1) Aim for max resists in merciless (that's 75 fire/cold/lightning; 77 if you take Elemental Adaption) 2) It is not a must have, it is nice to have. If you pay attention and don't run into poison clouds/move out of them quick you can play the game with no additional chaos resist. People play an energy shield based char because you can achieve a much bigger ES pool than a life pool. CI is taken out of necessity (get rid of the small life pool that would be a liability vs chaos damage) in such a build, not because chaos immunity is goal number 1. 3) That being said i recommend a life build for beginners. Life gear is much easier to get and you don't need special items like the eye of chayula or dream fragments that are necessary for CI. 4) Don't mix things up as a beginners. As a life build concentrate on life and resistances on gear. If you get some ES too, fine. But don't explicitly look for ES gear with life on it. Same goes for the tree: You might want to pick up Nullification because of the evasion and resistance bonus, not because of the ES bonus. Pick life nodes, stay away from ES nodes (If you decide to make a CI build it would be the other way round of course). |

Hey, Bada! I've got some question I'd like to be responded.
How would you make such build concentrated on IIQ/IIR? I'd like to make that build to farm alone, so CS is not required for me. Is there any possible way to solve mana pool problem excluding mana flasks? Is it a good idea to make that build based on 7-8 power charges and as 6th link make FP with Power Charge on critical? I guess it'd add a lot of dmg to FP as well hold enemies in freeze a lot longer. |

" You don't have to change the build for mf (i don't recommend a low life build on a cold witch just to wear wondertraps). You have to change your gear; buy stuff with iiq/iir on it while not sacrificing too much defensive stats. For example wearing an andvarius ring you have to stack some extra resists on other gear. I would also use a finishing spell with culling strike + increased item rarity. For example ice spear - culling strike - item rarity - GMP (you can drop GMP if you just use it to give rares and uniques the death blow). If you don't want to use mana flasks and have a mana problem you either have to increase your mana pool/mana regeneration (if you have the tree i suggested it would have to be on gear) and/or lower your casting speed (no faster casting support gem, no cast speed on gear) and/or replace support gems with high mana multiplier with one's that have a lower multiplier (for example using LMP instead of GMP). Going for max power charges and pcoc is a viable variant of this build. |

hey, I got a question for you. I'm currently following your build and I have a decent 4 socket armor, but the kicker is they're all blue sockets. Now I've switched one to green through chromatic orbs, but upon further research I'll be damned if I continue to do that, seeing as how unlikely it is I'll get 3 green sockets on this one. What type of gear should I be looking for that would have 1 blue socket and 3 greens to accommodate this? Is it truly affordable to go down this route with freezing pulse? Do you have any supplements I can use well in the meantime until I can find armor that can accommodate this? Please let me know.
Freezing Pulse – Lesser Multiple Projectiles – Faster Projectiles – Life Leech –Cold Penetration/Faster Casting/Inreased Critical Strikes Lesser Multiple Projectiles. A must have for FP as the projectiles can overlap and multihit a single target. With FP’s 100% build in pierce (the ability to travel through the enemy it hits) this makes FP one of the best crowd control spells in the game. Faster Projectiles. A must have on a normal Freezing Pulse as its projectile dissipates while it travels, dealing less damage the further it goes. With Faster Projectiles FP will not only have a much farther reach allowing you stay in a safe distance from the mobs it also increases the damage at any given point in its traveling path compared to a slower (and quicker fading) projectile. |
