pabrt's Critical Mass Discharger 1.2 (molten strike coc)
" I disagreed, you just doing it the wrong way by handling reflect by using physical attack and that make your build became hybrid and make Discharge weaker. I play Manually Discharge before, having 7 power charge, alot of spell damage node and the important is having at least 65% spell crit w/o any power charge / 250 spell crit multiplier is the way to manual Discharge. Using Ice Spear (Lvl 1 for Charge only and less mana cost / reflect) - GMP - Chain - Ele Prof - Cold Pen I'm able to freeze any pack of mobs and just run in the middle to Discharge, not to mention I have time to check if any mob are Reflect while they frozen. With ~93% crit chance for Discharge I can stand in mob pack and melt their ass again and again (I don't even have a Voll's Devotion when I play the Build). " Maybe I formulated it the wrong way. Manual discharge is fine if you play the way you describe or as a classical burning discharger. My hybrid approach (hybrid not because I tried to handle reflect with physical but rather because I used the discharge setup of a classical burning discharger but also crit + the 2 Voll uniques from the CoC discharger setup to build up charges and to overcome the single target weakness of the burning discharger) is working as well but it's a pain to play and clear speed is much lower than with the two none-hybrid forms. " I'm running with Windscream and Doedre's Damning for triple curses and use Temp Chains, Enfeeble and Crit Weakness linked to Cast when Damage Taken. Works like a charm. You lose a lot of resists and life though. At level 80 I've just 3114 life. Resists before flasks are fire=62, cold=41, lighting=56, chaos-60. So far with this setup I didn't have problems up to level 70 maps I had a few close calls though but luckily didn't die. Unfortunately I could not yet try 70+ maps as none dropped so far :-S I did not yet fight merci Dominus however and can't answer if you can facetank it with this setup. PS: I would like to get my hands on a Bino's Kitchen Knife :-) Last edited by fae76#3960 on Jan 8, 2014, 6:48:03 PM

Interesting cast on crit changes in the patch. I'm not sure if the 10ms cooldown affects this build, testing it, it's hard to tell.
Just doing some very rough math, I think this build is unaffected by the 10ms cooldown, but gets a huge buff from the 20% increased proc chance. Last edited by pabrt#4594 on Jan 8, 2014, 9:19:18 PM

Seems like the change to CoC is a straight upgrade to this build. Since you're not going to be attacking, 100 times per second, there's no effect of the 10 millisecond delay. I think this patch was primarily to fix builds that used Something like Cyclone-CoC-EK-EK-EK-EK to cast 4 EK per crit, but it also has the side effect of preventing GMP Spectral Throw CoC builds from casting if their daggers hit multiple enemies at the same time. Since this build uses only one spell, and hits only 1 target at a time, but much quicker, the only change that affects it is the 20% increase. Hoorah!

Actually, using multiple spells still works (I use firestorm in addition to discharge). But yeah, it prevents multiple simultaneous procs from stuff like ST, cyclone and LA.
It's a pretty nice buff to the build, that's for sure. Last edited by pabrt#4594 on Jan 8, 2014, 10:26:15 PM

Any thoughts on how the new ring might be used in a build like this? I know there has to be something.

CoC got nerf in 1.05 patch. Its not a mega huge blow but still.... the increase crit gem no longer need it.
to op: is there a reason u use firestorm? EK seems good on paper. Last edited by ryukenden#6519 on Jan 9, 2014, 12:34:19 AM

" This is very interesting, the stats are PERFECT for a discharger mana, leech, acc, globals so hell yeah. We crit so much so the crit charge per non crit wont help. The last line is what concernes me. BUT im assuming that with vols and high IAS you get power charges so fast and expend them so fast (also if you have vols your on endurance charges), that this might not be a problem. I could be wrong but this would need to be tested and I could see it either being usless or having a huge increase to our single target dps ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ NERF ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ NERF ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ NERF ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
