Low FPS Issues

I've given a brief read to this ( tried to get all the details, but there is a lot to read here ), but have you tried underclocking your cards? I'm wondering if the issue is related to power draw causing that PowerTune to kick in. It SHOULDN'T be an issue because I have a single 6970 that can easily max out the game across a triple monitor configuration. However, if there is some driver, or engine efficiency issue with your configuration it MIGHT trigger that. I'm assuming since you have a bit of an overclock running on your cards you've already got the GPU core voltage ( in whatever utility you used ) maxed out. Try running back the core speeds as a bit of a test maybe?

That's interesting, because' im running a 570 which is a bit more powerful than a 6970 (somehow... even though 6970 was meant to be on par with a 580 and 6990 with a 590, were they not? Never noticed that) and i wouldn't dare try to max this with 3 monitors due to the shitstorm of particle effects and whatnot when running maps.
hi, can you post some test screeshots with all 3 graphs, because latency spikes can cause frame drops.
@Xendran: No, the 570 was on par ( and on some tests even slightly less powerful ) than the 6950. The 6970 is a good margin higher. At any rate the direct competitor for the 570 is the 6950 not the 6970.

6970 was not an impressive card, the 5970 was more powerful. 6000 series in general was pretty unimpressive.

The 5970 wasn't a single GPU card. It was essentially two 5870's on a single PCB.

I'm not sure why we are talking about it. We were talking about the 6970 versus the GTX 570 were we not?

All the other comparisons are for the 570, if you didnt check any of the other links except for the first one. It consistently gets higher framerates, the 5970 was just me noticing that it was faster than 6970.

http://www.hwcompare.com/9021/geforce-gtx-570-vs-radeon-hd-6950-2gb/ Check this out btw. The 6970 is *barely* faster than the 2gb 6950. 570 still beats it out though.

You should probably read the source cited but that link...

Everywhere i check, people say that the 570 beats it at stock clocks, and with overclocks they compete within a very small margain of each other. the 6970, not the 6950.

I have already tested with stock clock speeds(880/1375). I have also tested with increasing the power settings. I find it highly intriguing that you using a single 6970 without any issues, since there have been a few other threads where people with other AMD cards were having very similar issues to mine. Since I have already tried disabled 1 card completely, I suppose the only other thing I could try is physically removing the second card....which I suppose I'll try over the weekend.

I've updated the original post to include links to the fullscreen versions of those screenshots. There happen to be some lag spikes(some crazy ones at that) but they don't necessarily correspond at the same time as the FPS drops.
