Low FPS Issues

Not sure if abacus or supercomputer

On a more serious note, the game is much better than it was a few months ago. It used to idle at like 75 degrees in town and whatnot.

One thing you could check would be to see if you're getting hard drive activity when the FPS drops happen. There is a known issue with some assets not being pre-loaded and causing stuttering when they load in game.

Even with raid0 throughput being high, the drives will still have to seek for smaller files which could cause stuttering (although I'd honestly be surprised if it is causing the drops you're describing).

Edit: Assuming it is a loading stutter, it should lessen the longer you're in an instance as the assets will only need to load the first time you encounter them. :Edit

We don't currently have a similar system to test with, so it's entirely possible that there is a problem we need to fix. We do hope to be able to test the game on more varied hardware in future and better optimize it. In the meantime if you find out any more information about this problem please let us know.

So I stood in town and ran around pyramids with max settings, vsync off, and I put a hdd overlay graph up next to the fps graph.

In both places I saw around consistent(or every other second) 10-290 kb and very occasional(once every few minutes) jumps to 1-2mb. This doesn't seem abnormal to me, but maybe I'm wrong?

I couldn't really tell if any of these 1-2mb spikes coincided with fps drops though, but that doesn't seem like it matters greatly since even in town I was getting the 1-2Mb rates.

Just to confirm this system was working, I ran a quick scan with my anti-virus, rates were in the 50MB range.

I will admit though that this is a bit difficult to do, FPS drops are barely a second long, so I had to pretty much stare at both graphs while fighting using my peripheral vision. So sometimes, I did take my eyes off the data to make sure I didn't die.

As a note, even though my GPU temps were fine, I decided to remove the stock thermal paste and apply my own arctic silver compound. My temps are now 7C cooler at 78C. There hasn't been any fps increase though. FYI don't do this unless you know what you're doing and don't care about your warranty.

most likely, closer to the later.

Slayer mentioned reverting to stock clock(I assume on the video cards and not the cpu) but the OC on my cards is barely 5%. Reverting to stock clocks is terribly unnecessary.

Anybody that knows what arctic silver is will know how to install it, and will have bought the parts separately.

Unless you actually took apart your cpu and replaced the internal compound, which is a VERY bad idea for the vast majority of people.

Arctic silver took my temps down around 10C from the stock stuff intel threw onto my 3570k.

Oh looking over my post, I didn't specify that I switched out the GPU thermal compound, I've edited the post for clarity. And I would say that replacing CPU compound is typically easier since you're not messing with thermal memory pads and for other various reasons. So there are plenty of people who know and do use their own thermal compound on a CPU, but might not know that doing so on a GPU is a bit more complicated. All and in all, you're likely correct, that anyone who knows what arctic silver is, will either know what I'm talking about, or will have the ability to find out.

FYI I built my system, so I actually started with a clean CPU chip, and I'm using H2O cooling.

What watercooling and how are your temps by the way? I've been considering upgrading, but only if im going to see a noticable difference in temperatures.

Complete Max settings: with vsync off
140-160 FPS Standing in town
While fighting mobs it goes from 110fps with spikes every 5-10 seconds down to 4fps

Complete Max settings with Vsync On
50-60 in town
60 with spikes down to 4 while fighting

Complete Minimum settings vsync off
140-240 in town
200 with spikes down to 12

Complete Minimum settings Vsync on
same as max settings

I started to have this similar problem of getting huge spikes after i upgraded my Geforce 8800gts card to radeon HD 6570. While my average performance and idle fps went up, i started to get these spikes every several seconds.

28C idle
42C load

These are pretty much the best temps I can get considering I live in Cali where it's always pretty warm.

I'm using the Corsair H70 (the lazy mans h2o)
I like it, I also think you gotta clean the radiator every so often just like with any other cooler.

I like it alot, however I did have to do a bit of case modding so that it would fit.

Im pretty sure that you can get equal temps with a noctura, but again it requires a good amount of case space.

Damn, my hyper 212 has me idling 10C warmer. Might have to upgrade
I've updated with screenshots, and put the HDD activity in the main post.
