Detailed 3h-4h Hardcore Racing Dualist Guide
" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULdSwn9KsY4 " If brutus oneshots my marauder, then it also oneshots my 8k energy shield shadow, my 5k hp templar and all my other characters. Again, I can atleast double my armour with more passives and flask mods ( 90% increase armour ). Haven't met brutus yet at high level, I did fight vaal like 20 times and he's very easy because you can dodge all attacks. Ofcourse if you get hit by the hulk smash you are dead, or if you get hit by 2 lasers in a row you are also dead but the lasers can be avoided by circling him and the hulk smash is even easier to evade.. The chaos mobs he spawns only tickle me as well lol. Last edited by Struyk#7686 on Nov 11, 2012, 8:23:59 AM

I have played a dual wielding Duelist in quite a few races and can't say I agree entirely with your guide. High armor and damage reduction may be nice to have but one thing going against it in races is that it is highly gear dependant. Keeping your armor values high enough for your 70% reduction pretty much forces you to run in full Str equipment all the time (Str chest also slows you down quite a bit, which is bad in races) or pick Iron Reflexes (which you will get around lvl 20 if you rush it which is after most of the really tough fights) while going with life nodes gives you much more flexibility in terms of equipped items. Life nodes also significantly increases the bonuses from Coral Rings and Leather Belt.
Against bosses I like to run a sword and shield in weapon swap and use Viper Strike to kill them. The shield is preferably a kite shield for +resists and weapon damage is totally unimportant for this setup (a Sabre with +1 melee skills is best). This makes battles like Brutus, Merveil and Fidelitas much safer as opposed to using Dual Strike as you can deal damage while kiting them, only approaching for short periods to inflict viper charges. Taking life and regen nodes also supports this approach by conserving flasks. Your boss kill list seems quite optimistic to me. Fire Fury and Oozeback Bloom are very dangerous to non-twinked low level duelists, same for Burning Menace (unless you find a Ruby Ring, but still risky) and Merveil Daughters (again unless you're lucky and find appropriate resist rings). I would also not waste time with much effort - low gain bosses like Gneiss. And why do you list those side area bosses? Going for them is a total waste unless you're going for first clears. The biggest drawback a dualwielder IMO is the fact that you need to find two good weapons for your main weapon set, as opposed to a 2h or bow build for which one good weapon drop can take them a long way. -Ropetus Author of Build of the Week #11: PalavaKostaja - Righteous Fire Marauder

" Please try the guide before you reply again.. Few points: You get enough STR to equip any high armour piece You get the node that removes movement penalties from armour You can easly kill any boss with 2 iron rings and dual strike Fire Fire Fury and Oozeback are the 2 easiest enemies, you kill firefury's adds first and easly outheal her damage. Oozeback no comment.. just easiest boss there is. Burning Menace is doable, but requires alot of kiting when you get burned, never died to him. You only need 2 white weapons and 2 irons rings as dual wield, try to have the highest level weapon you can buy in shop if you dont find any. Last edited by Struyk#7686 on Nov 11, 2012, 10:21:35 AM

" Sorry but I just have to point out one more thing. Those skill trees in your guide are way off. Your Brutus tree is fine at level 8 but by looking at your tree you're planning to face Merveil at level 21 and Vaal at level 32. In a race it is usual to face Merveil at 12 or 13 and Vaal at 22 or 23 so you won't have nearly so many skills at those fights. Still not sure if this thread is serious or trolling... -Ropetus Author of Build of the Week #11: PalavaKostaja - Righteous Fire Marauder

" The level you are when facing them is different for everyone. I hit merveil at 16-17 and vaal at 31-32. Updated merveil but whats wrong with the vaal tree? Last edited by Struyk#7686 on Nov 11, 2012, 11:19:13 AM

Struyk, I need to point out one thing to you and that is stop giving these theory crafting guides when you haven't even finished a damn race yet. I'm getting tired of seeing you spouting this stuff and you bragging you can always easily get level 32 in practice when AGAIN you can't even finish a race.
Right now you have no right to give any guides or any tips because you have not once been able to back up what you're saying. A few days ago you was bragging to me how easy races are and how easy it is to get level 32, and I called you on it, I challenged you to do the race and prove what you were saying, and you failed that challenge. You have now done two races in a row, both of which you never made it past 30 minutes. Stop talking such crap and maybe start focusing on your own game plan instead of giving these guides which no one is going to take seriously until you can back up what you're saying. And also, stop constantly saying "I was #3 at 20 mins" type of crap, who cares, positions change all the time and the first 30 mins anyone can be in top 3 if they are rushing ahead, until you start finishing top 5 I don't wanna see you posting your BS any more. Sorry if this sounds harsh but you brought it on yourself. |

" Whatever you say bro, I told you that I dont do races because I cant fking play with these desyncs and I will die. Both races I died because I couldnt hit my enemies hwile they were right in front of me. This build works perfectly, especially once you hit cruel and get enduring cry then you just cant die anymore. Had totally no issues in both runs, last run I didnt have phase run or the deep dweller done so was kinda handicapped and probably wouldve survived if I had phase run lol... Was just a test to see if I could hit cruel faster then I normally do without picking up phase run. I've survived 8 4h test runs past few weeks and all wouldve placed me in top 5 if it was a real race. I died many times because of desyncs and without them I wouldve finished all test runs. Try the build, find any little error, then complain. For now, go back into your cave. Last edited by Struyk#7686 on Nov 11, 2012, 1:35:22 PM

" What he said! Struyk I gotta give you credit for being funny and overly confident yet you have no proof to back that confidence of yours up... Until you actually finish a HC race ALIVE maybe YOU should head back into your little cave:P |
