What is the formula for critical strike %

It's semi-ridiculous we can't know this formula.

crit for coldsnap = 5>= ((crit rating on gear + crit rating of support gem tied to spell + crit rating on passive)*passive multiplicative multiplier)/ 100 * ( monsterlevel/charlevel)) <=95

that's my guess.

And is the passive crit % multiplicative or additive? because 5% base with 3 6% in passives could be (5+6+6+6)% OR ((((5)*1.06)*1.06)*1.06) OR some kind of weird (((((5)+crit rating passives)*1.06)*1.06)*1.06)

If devs are not going to release the formulas for this please release why you are withholding it.

Dude, relax.
Everyone of your topic is a complain about everything.

Relax, play the game, have FUN with it instead of complainings here and there, and provide feedback, but don't do the same which each post, complaining about the bad this and bad that, and thinking always you got the absolute reason in the forums everytime anybody argue with you (and normally telling you the truth), telling them things like "you don't have any idea what your talking about" and doing things like that in each post of you.

This is a beta. Things will change from that, almost all: damage, skills, passives, formulas... No sense to show them, they are working in more important things, I suppose.

Relax... stay calm... and have fun, mate. And don't play hardcore again pleeease :)

PS: and please stop bumping everyone of your posts. They told you that you shouldn't do it. And you do it everytime.

I wish I knew the formula myself.
I love this game. It's a great game. The point of beta is to test shit.

Personally I play games to excel at pvp. I can't excel at PVP if systems are broken and I can't know about how my items are effecting my players.

I try to submit my crash dumps every time the game crashes. I submit every graphical error as I see it.

I'm not gonna be nice to a game with flaws. Either the flaws get fixed or I'll play a new game. I have tremendous respect for the developers being a programmer and a progamer. They are fulfilling my dream.

Am I going to standby while obviously flawed systems go to release? No. That wouldn't be taking my role as beta tester very seriously.

This is the first post I have bumped where new information wasn't added. I hate double posting, but I have yet to see a GGG response from a third / 4th page thread. And I really want their crit formula.

I'll draw Chris' attention to this post when he gets back, but I make no promises! It is entirely possible that it will change, as crit may be getting a review some time in the near future.

But really this is largely because he is making a passive tree simulator and wants to know how to min/max. Real talk.

To answer your question about how crit rating % stacks, I can virtually guarantee it works like everything else: additive.

To give feedback about your equation, I'd say it's terribly flawed. Based off your equation, 200 crit rating (rather common value) would give only 2% crit chance. From what I've seen from very simple testing, I've found that about 30 (lets say 33) critical rating results in 1% critical chance. So change 100 to 33, and I'd say you'd have a reasonable approximation of the equation.

Personally, I also dislike using percentage(%) as if it was a unit, and would rather do the math as decimal work (1% = 0.01), and hence would say the 33 should be 3300.

I recommend crits get a bit of a re-work. Aside from power charges, it seems extremely difficult right now to get decent critical rates unless you're wanding (where most of the critical rating comes from the wand anyway). There's only something like +160 critical rating in the whole tree (for all weapons) I think, and the % increase crit rating is TERRIBLE compared to item mods +crit rating, and passives with +crit rating.
(7% of 400 crit rating (a crit rating which is rather hard to achieve by level 60 unless wanding) is only 24 crit rating)

Keep in mind that the best class for critting is probably the one not in the game yet.
Thank you sir.
