It would be awesome if you made another trapper, but if you make a new kick ass build you should make a guide for it aswell. By any chance would you be willing to part ways with your gear now that your on softcore with this character? Help a poor SOB out! =D I am having a blast with your build and i giggle with joy when enemies die in the flames of multiple fire traps! I have a couple questions for you about gear, i found a deerstalker and a ilevel 68 searing touch before making this build and so far they are treating me right. Do you think its possible to use these items past level 60? i havent 6l the searing touch, and i prob will never do it, but with 4 links its doing alright. How does EK, Fire Trap, Lightning Trap, and Bear Trap damage scale?
Recently, I purchased this weapon: I thought it would make my Ethereal Knives, Fire Trap, Lightning Trap, and Bear Trap significantly stronger, but it ended up being a downgrade! My old weapon was stronger: I thought I just needed the spell power, but the dps tooltip results are: new | old weapon EK: 826.8 | 856.2 Fire Trap: 316.1 | 317.7 Lighting Trap: 241.7 | 242.7 Bear Trap: 1015.3 | 1139.8 So it made all of my spells weaker. I'm so confused. This was supposed to be a big upgrade for me. Now I'm poor and my damage is worse. :( Could you explain why this is and what I'm supposed to look for? I watched your gearing vids, but am still pretty clueless! |

" I can promise you, your damage did in fact go up. Link the actual Damage Text for the skills as I did in my guide or just write them down, not sure if I've explained it on my vid's or not but essentially traps gain " DPS " off casting speed. It's not increasing the damage per second though since traps are limited on cooldowns, however the game will register the " Damage Per Second " going up. Your cooldowns are locked since your using traps, in other words you really don't need any type of casting speed yet the game will try to show it as your damage Per second going down because it can't register the set cooldown of traps Hope this helps | |
Pohx, i like your approach on a trapper, most other builds are not that beefy as this one.
what do you think of picking up elemental equilibrium? it is just 3 points away, would you see a difference in damage or is there any minus resistance cap on mobs? |

" He had it at the beginning but removed it for others SP. As for Cast Speed, it only increase the tooltips DPS (and since traps are more burst than DPS its useless). |

I read somewhere it gets boosts from + %physical damage as long as it's not the weapon? So if I had a weapon that was: + %physical damage + 2-5 physical damage This wouldn't benefit me at all? But if the + %physical on the belt, then it would? With the hit and run playstyle of the trapper, I'm probably actually getting more dps here too because I never actually sit there holding down the skill to make use of cast speed. So with the increased spell damage, I should be getting more damage per hit out of EK too? Confusing skill to me. It's a physical spell hmm... And projectile speed helps too? So basically I want spell power, spell crit, cast speed and projectile speed for EK, elemental damage, +2 gems, yes? |

" Cast speed has no effect on anything that is a trap. Trap throwing speed effects traps. For EK spell damage, spell crit, crit mod, physical % global (like on belt), projectile dmg %, and projectile speed effect it directly. If you have added fire dmg linked to it (as you should), then fire dmg % and elem dmg % also impact the portion of the damage that is fire. Projectile speed increases the distance that EK travels, in effect giving it a larger aoe. Faster casting without EK being linked to trap is very important, but if linked to a trap adds nothing. Bear trap is effected by physical % global, crit, crit mod, and the above if added fire is linked. Fire, lightning, and other spells linked to trap follow the normal elemental spell list of mods that effect them. Added trap dmg is multiplicative with all above dmg mods. Edit - +2 gems has a huge impact on fire trap damage, and solid impact on light, cold snap, and light warp traps. EK and Bear traps can only be effected by +1 all gems mod, but for both it is a very large increase. I wouldn't reccomend putting EK in a 3L though as you would lose alot of its effectiveness. Casting Speed also directly affects trap speed, I can make a youtube video for it if you would like. I've proven it multiple times over my live Stream. |
