=[1.1.3]= The New Overpowered (UPDATED!) New Build HERE!
I thougt I'd use this build as a base for an ice-crit archer.
I'll be using Vectors and Maligaro's. The rest of the gear is undecided. I plan to use BM for ice shot, and mana for auras. Any suggestions when it come to point allocation?

I recently read this guide on the ranger forums regarding taking acrobatics and phase acrobatics and relying on dodge for defense. I spec'd out of much of my blender build and find that my survivability has gone down a lot. I take much bigger spikes in my hp. Plus i'm constantly oom. My stats aren't up to par with your dodge/evasion etc... but am unsure if I can have the same success as you. I'm coming from the duelist tree.
I am certainly intrigued by the dodge model and have already spent 50-60 regrets into the build. However, the results so far have been poor and i'm wondering if it's worth continuing the investment. Cavet: I don't have the boot yet but am considered pretty fairly geared otherwise with perfect BOR evasion. Also, it seems that there are only two ways to generate frenzy charges, blood rage and frenzy attack. My health melts with blood rage and I end up dying when not in combat. I can't run hatred and grace with frenzy due to mana issues (no soul taker). My links on my BOR are: frenzy, splash, life gain on hit, multi. The only way I can sustain dmg is if i sub life gain on hit with blood magic but then i just die. I think my leech is like 6-8% and have warlords mark. TLDR: I'm a duelist currently using blender, cyclone and dualstrike. My gear is fairly decent for that build. Is this build sustainable at stat/gear levels below what is recommended? What are the minimal defensive stats to run this build effectively? Already dumped 50-60 regrets into it and wanted to know how much more currency I would need to spend.
Since I wrote my post above I have more or less followed the passive tree I posted. Currently at lvl 62, so no Darkray's yet. Will be interesting to see how much they do for my survival.
So far, I will NOT go as far as to say it is "the new OP". In fact, I have died a total of 15 times, which is a bit more than usual for me. In almost all of those cases I was one-shot by poweful elemental spells - Vaal's lightning beam and Piety's lightning strike. Working to max out my resists to see if it helps (had 40-ish at the time). Since I use a bow, I have no block, which would help a lot. Some parts are much easier with this build compared to an armour build. To me it feels like a bit of give and take. Having a lot of fun with it though, and I plan to push it to atleast lvl 75 to see where it goes.
I am bumping this thread as i finally decided to update it. not much has changed from the initial framework of the build but i also updated my current loadout for a practical means to how this foundation can be used.
next thing i'll look to update is to post some videos of maps and demonstrations on how tanky this build is. I have already once facetanked poorjoy's asylum solo but that was pre-vaal pact nerf so i'll look to do this again - i already have the map ready to go! i hope this thread gains popularity again and people begin to realize the awesome power of evasion and stop relying so heavily on iron reflexes like they used to Last edited by iRace82 on Mar 15, 2014, 10:18:19 PM

Great thread! Just wanted to say that only with Dodge can you get the highest spell defense in the game - with high spell block and spell dodge and the new unique boots you can reach 13.5% spell avoidance - which is seriously insane.
Dodge is also the most OP defense because it has NO drawbacks - unlike block which can cause block recovery. The only problem with Dodge is managing to stack enough of it to get a high % (which you can with block), but hopefully this will change as more dodge items are introduced into the game. I read from a dev somewhere that Atziri Step may be the only item they introduce into the game with spell dodge. Dodge is also very strong early game and the Ranger has one of the best starts to quickly grab Ondar's Guile and Acrobatics early on, while getting strong evasion nodes along the way. I used to be against Dodge because it takes a lot of points, but now with the buff to Phase Acro and the new boots - Dodge is just too good to pass up. " this is wrong. your reflect can be evaded aslong as you dont have 100% accuracy. resolute technique is not something you should be considering if you want to play a evade/dodge based build as it takes away the point of this build, otherwise you might aswell just go IR. |

im starting to test vaal lightning strike and i just don't see the point. it is only one hit, and while yes it gets aoe sparks shooting at nearby enemies this requires an aoe scenario (not ideal for bosses) and the beams only do 50% damage.
for some reason i thought it charged up your useable weapon for its duration where you could attack with its benefits. in any case i don't see how it can compare to vaal double strike, which is seriously OP right now. i anticipate a lowered damage amount, lowered to probably 30-50% base dmg instead of 70%. once you couple it with 3 support gems the damage gets out of hand! VDS is probably also the best leveling tool in the game right now. if its a new char and you end up getting it, or if you just transfer one over or buy one. it allows you to clear the areas as per normal but deal with bosses easily with the VDS shadow. i also anticipate builds coming out where they utilize multiple vaal skill gems. yes they don't share souls, so in order to charge up vaal LS and vaal DS, for instance, you'd need to kill a total of 124 things (64 each gem in merciless). but this should not present too bad of a problem because again, it is single casts so its most useful at the end of maps and such. run through, store up all the souls, enter boss and just UNLOAD. i'd love to load up vaal detonate dead i just don't have enough sockets! blasted!. two handers/bow and armor users will definitely have the advantage over BoR users with all the added sockets being able to utilize multiple vaal gem set ups.
Unfortunatelly in invasion league, the problem is not that acrobatics are unviable, but surprisingly for me, the problem is to get it running.
Always getting killed in cruel by omiting some part of the necessary acrobatics defense tools: 1) CWdT -> endu cry -> immortal call 2) Remove bleed flask 3) Movement skill to get out of bear trap So if anyone is trying to lvl up acrobatics build in Invasion, really consider to have points 1-3) covered all the time and not like me postponing that until its late. MY CHALLENGES ARE DONE ON HC, IT'S NOT SC GUYS!

while i agree CoDT is a great setup and literally everybody should have it, it isn't required. also you should hardly ever get punctured, even while leveling up.
you're right now, bear trap will utterly destroy you if you're not careful. so in sarn if you don't have the gear and can't avoid those traps then skip that boss completely. but once you play with evasion builds you get used to what you can and cannot handle. quick update, i finally got my stone of lazhwar with +1 frenzy charge. just adding 1 frenzy charge upped my DPS by 4k, dodge by 2%, evasion a little bit and 5% movement speed. now i just need +1 frenzy on darkray vectors and i'll be almost completely set. also heres a funny pick for everybody. this is me with the shrine that "your skills are repeated". absolutely hilarious hearing a ranger attack at 33 atks/sec
Any chance you would be able to suggest how to level up this build and what skill gems you would recommend using?
