-| First, before I go on, a few notes to be made and had:
GGG For a good game.
Mouze for Lending me a certain item :P
Lion for the submission layout.

-| Second: There are a few build differences between my PvP build and my PvE build. I currently use my PvP build, as it performs well enough to farm, but I would not use it in High End PvE.

Character name: WhozWhoz(Shadow)
Build: EB-Ele RANGEr

PvE Build Up First.

About my build

The build is extremely versitile and relatively devastating. It has alot of flexibility gear wise, from high DPS Rings/Gloves/Jewelry to anything in between. I will admit that this build is extremely gear dependant, the balance to it is that it can adapt to a very LARGE amount of varying gear situations. You can easily switch to a tanky build, with minimal variation and loss.

Another thing to note is, obviously, the Auras I leverage. In PvE I run: Purity, Determination, Grace, Wrath, Anger, Clarity and Discipline. Due to my inherent nature as an ele archer, I have a large amount of flat ele damage, and very little actual Phys damage, meaning hatred is much less beneficial to me.

My main attack is Split Arrow, combined with my overall DPS, Diamond Flask cycling and my curse of preference, Projectile Weakness, It allows for a rather cheap and effective large scale AoE. It also has quality that leverages my flat ele rolls.

As you can see, supporting Split Arrow, I have Lit Pen, Weapon Elemental Damage, Faster Attacks, Added Lightning Damage and Mana Leech. I have one note to say here, when in the ladder and doing high end PvE maps, I would recommend using Life Leech, as its much more effective, as you already have enough mana and regen to sustain Split Arrow far longer then is already required. My bow is just recolored for farming.

Simply curse groups, and unload.

While I understand fully that my gear is obviously kind of absurd, I would point out that it is far from perfect. My current gear I am looking to upgrade are my Gloves, One Ring and My Belt. Other then that it's pretty much perfect. Of course the bow would need to be rechromed.

How would I improve my build from my current standing?
I'm always tweaking, changing and improving. However, since the PvP Implementation, I would rather roll as a templar then a shadow, and in the next section, I will show you my PvP build.

Character name: WhozWhoz(Shadow)

PvP Build

About my build

I mentioned versitility?

This is how and why. Without major change or mass respecing, the build becomes relatively viable in PvP, simply by swapping bow for .... Ranged Wand/Shield and Elemental Hit.

This build in particular is very effective. It hits a rather large armor, resists, HP and block rate, while mantaining a rather large DPS number, aswell as range and some utility. I've yet to lose to anything I consider a counter, since I made this build. My only losses are attributed to DodgyMcBlockerson (Viper Strike) and For (Creative use of one shotting me with bear traps without curse.)

In PvP, due to a lack of hot-keys and lack of prep period, I have to choose my auras by order of importance. I usually go Discipline, Grace, Tempest Shield, Clarity and then a situational aura of choice (Purity for casters/ele users, Determination for phys, Anger, Wrath for occasions where I need damage). My Curses of choice in PvP are either Enfeeble or Temp Chains.

It's main weakness is it's lack of mobility, which is often taken advantage of, I counter this somewhat, by laying 3 bear traps and attempting to burst my target down. Of course, if I can't surprise the opponent with a large enough burst of damage to kill them extremely fast, they just whirl/leap away because bear traps don't really immobilize.

In pvp I use Ele hit as my main damage skill, supported by Weapon Elemental Damage, Faster Attacks, Light Pen, and either Culling Strike, Chain, Lesser Multiple Projectiles or Faster Projectiles. Situation depending of course, chain is useful for killing totems that are summoned on multiple parts of the screen and hitting the caster, even though he's often a screen or two away. Faster Projectiles helps hit close range targets and helps me align my burst on Bear Traps. Lesser Multiple Projectiles is for 3v3s where the coverage allows me to hit easier from off screen, culling for straight 1v1 toe to toes.

My shields are a core part of this build, I switch between:

Would like to get a 6L chest, a better wand, possibly belt upgrade, ammy upgrade etc. That includes all my situational jewelry as well, such as Chayula for Stun heavy situations, Frags for cold casters, etc.

How would I improve my build from my current standing?
PvP would definetly be a templar.

5 Attacks/Second Bow Marauder

Character : Muzeifu
Class : Marauder
Level : 55

One Required Item :
Rain Quill (Unique Bow)

Unavailable

Current Build (lvl 55) :

Future Build (lvl 85) :

Attack :

Skills : I use Elemental Hit since it has a damage source independant of the weapon damage. I linked the Chain Support Gem to hit for better AoE (I remove when it when 1v1ing). I also linked Life Gain on Hit, it alows me to not lose too many HP even when doing 5 attack/sec and gain hp when fighting vs many monster. I also linked Reduced Mana for the same purpose. The last gem I linked was Faster Attack for DPS purposes.
I use Anger and Wrath for additionnal elemental damage.

Passive : I went to the Templar area to gain access to alot of Element Damage nodes.

Defence :

Skills : I use Enduring Cry and Temporal Chains when needed. Grace grants me a lot of defence too.

Passive : I use Iron Reflex to get the most defence possible. The 6 Evasion and Armor nodes near Unwavering Stance will give me 128%(!) increase Armor once i get them.

Health :

I use Blood Magic because it is simply impossible to substain 5 attacks/second with mana. Removing the Chain Support gem when doing 1v1 allows me to cast my skill without losing any HP and putting it on vs groups allows me to gain additional hp every hit. I plan to use the reduced mana cost passive node i nthe future for additionnal hp gain on hit.

Overall :

It is very easy to AoE and 1v1 with this character. It has great damage, defense and health. The only worry is casting Elemental Hit where the are no monsters because the HP go down relativelly fast.

Elemental Hit adds to weapon-damage (it is still damage dealt by use of a weapon), meaning it's still reduced by Quill Rain's damage penalty. :)
I'm really glad I checked out the tempest shield ranger video. I have been playing my templar based around molten shell and blocks for a while, simply using tempest shield for added block and some damage.

Taking the elemental proliferation idea from that video really changed my build for the better. Super clever idea. My build is essentially a branch off of the ranger build with more tankiness (I dont need to use enfeeble), and reliance on spell casting for single targets rather than viper strike. Very happy about the elemental proliferation discovery.

I meant the base 4-11 damage of the bow, since most bow skills are % of the weapon damage. Elemental hit has some damage of it's own.

XD yes of course but if you take a skill like like ice shot, it would deal 60% of 4-11 damage as physical, 40% of 4-11 as ice and then divide it by 2. Which is really shitty damage. Elemental hit lets me have 4-11 physical damage + (example) 203-316 fire damage and then divide the whole thing by 2, which is much better.

Two days ago I watched the old trailers for PoE and saw this spider-like creature that jumps on the templar in a forest and wondered where it went. Seems like it became the Carrion queen? I want it to be December already, act3 looks awesome. Reminds me so much of the desert cities in act2 in Titan quest, and that is a good thing.

And oh yeah, buff Discharge. :-)
