I think Chris pointed out well enough in that Gamespot interview that plenty of specialised playstyles will still be better off picking a specialised class rather than the Scion.

im a little worried about this aswell, gonna make a lot of the current builds weaker since you gotta take even longer paths to get around.
But its still kinda hard to tell how this is gonna play out, just gotta wait and see.

it's possible that once you reach the middle of the tree,you will gain access to all other scion starting nodes,allowing you to jump wherever you want

Looking at it, I think that the new tree actually decreases the variety of builds, unfortunately. You can easily see that the middle cuts off many of the paths one would want to take. This new tree will basically result in many players with similar builds having identical trees (because it forces players to take specific paths, rather than optimize and take the path best fit to what type of character you have).

There are new highways. Let's wait and see how it plays out.

I really hope this is the case with the new passive tree otherwise for me playing as Ranger to get to Innerforce wont be possible anymore or i've to pick tons of +10 STR/DEX/INT rendering my build useless.
