Can someone help me out? I'm currently lvl 34ish and trying to figure out when to put in points into CI and other gamechanging nodes.

" There were like, 3 of us that explained why not "This". To expound on this point some more- For starters: I have MAYBE, being very liberal, 12 exalts worth of gear (feel free to take a look on the previous page). If this person's friend spent 150 exalts, and still can't deal enough damage to make up his mana with leeches, then he just geared/spec'd incorrectly- plain and simple. I have absolutely no mana issues with only 2% mana leech from gear, 2% from talents, and ~100 mana left after reserves. More generally, if we have 4% mana leech, and are using reave for 60 mana per cast (with Perz's proposed gem setup), we only need to be dealing 60/.04, or 1500 damage per average cast to maintain our mana. With any decent gear, this number should be easily achieved. If your damage is still too low for one reason or another, just grab a few more mana leech items. This threshold drops to 1000 damage per cast with 6% leech, and 750 with 8% (this will only be the case if you blew all of your money on a 6L with shit gear elsewhere: for a 5L and 43 mana[taking away melee phys damage support], we're looking at 1075, 717, and 538 physical damage required per cast for 4%, 6%, and 8% leech respectively.) And how the fuck is he only sitting on 3K ES with 150 exalts worth of gear? A 35 exalt 600 ES shield and aura alone will put you beyond that point. Also, with 25+% instant life leech, reflect damage is a LOT more trivial than with many other builds- since your healing is directly proportional to the damage you are dealing. This is compounded by the fact that you are blocking ~40% of reflected damage, and evading ~50% of it. If played intelligently, there's no reason someone playing this build should be incapable of completing maps "higher than 68". |

" Merciless Act 2 is generally what I've heard. Go straight to Fellshrine Ruins and grind your ass off until you have enough currency and levels to have 3k+ ES. Its worth noting that even at this point, Vaal will still be able to one shot you- so be careful |

I just had two questions, how badly do you think the Cast When Damage Taken change hurts this build?
Second question is, when leveling up what at the gems that are important to link together and use and which can wait till much higher level? I'm level 42 right now and it is hard to tell where my weakpoint is due to being new in the game and not knowing how much different gear and gems effect everything. Gear I'm using, maybe someones input on what I should be looking for when I look at gear? Would be greatly appreciated. |

I just started playing this game 5 days ago, I'm currently a 63 LA Elemental Ranger but it's kinda bad.. I've reached docks on merciless but wanted to make a new character.
Would you recommend this build? I got no funds at all.. Thanks |

" This, and this some more. When I was running this build, on my level 83 shadow I had less than 60 standard exalts invested, 3.8k ish ES, insane leech, 179 reserved mana pool running just discipline and hatred, and around 26k DPS. I was doing 72-74 maps all the time with minimal problems. As stated above, if played intelligently and properly this build works wonders. In my opinion this build is NOT for beginners. The play style might be, but obtaining the gear is not as it does rely on some key parts to make it viable late game. gl edit/ Oh and reflect was never an issue for me. EVER Was doing no double reflect maps just fine. Even half regen reflect maps were cake to me. No regen was a little tougher on sustaining mana but still possible if you know what you're doing edit/ Currently debating on trying life based of this build. Going to tweak it to my liking but we'll see IGN - GladHeAteHer / DripDrops / FlightStorm SHOP - http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/725891 Duelist/Marauder/Templar Life Based Tank Death Reaver - http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/629403 Last edited by EleShaman#3836 on Nov 12, 2013, 1:44:29 PM

" Not OP, but- Enduring cry will be just fine. You get a minimum of 1 charge per cast, if a mob is in range, so you only need to take ~1200 damage to get a full stack either way. Your curse will lose a little bit of effectiveness, but it won't be gamebreaking. I'm using enfeeble, as my gear is still not great. So, the max level with a level 1 cast when damage taken is 5, which will result in a 40% or so drop in effectiveness. Although you could also level them both up a bit- this build takes a fair bit of damage, so cast on damage will be going off pretty quick even at max level. Molten shell will lose frequency, but I think it would still be worth running with a higher level cast on damage taken if thats what you're into. The build is definitely still playable though. And is affected a lot less than builds that purely mitigate damage rather than just leeching it really quickly. Feel free to go stand in a group of mobs and watch how fast your health drops if you aren't attacking. Honestly, I think we could probably run the build with level 20 cast on damage taken without noticing too much of a performance drop. Personally, I intend to run a quality max level cast on damage taken linked with cold snap, elemental prolif, and molten shell, and a level 1 with enduring cry and enfeeble. The increased damage on the max level will result in pretty solid damage from molten shell and cold snap, which will result in spreading burns and decent duration freezes. |
