"Release is going to be awesome"

You can't balance PoE. It's a pipe dream. PoE is an open system and by its nature it can't be balance.

Balancing PvP without separating from PvE completely will drive the reminding players out of PoE. Trying to integrate a good PvP experience while using PvE mechanic/skill sets will be worst than patch .11. In order to make it work PvP cannot affect PvE and PvE cannot affect PvP, otherwise you will put too much stress on the community.

It's actually already the case. The DPS tooltip you read on your skill is true for PvE, not for PvP. Each skill has a different damage penalty in PvP, depending on what's "OP" and what is not. Those values are yet to be definitive and GGG needs your feedback for that.

While i get what you're saying, the DPS tooltip for PvE is almost always wrong too because of factors like shock and resists :P

I keep messing up the editing button. Anyway whatever the case maybe I'm not expecting much from GGG. They constantly proven themselves to be nerf happy. Any popular build or skills get nerf thus killing the player base.

I personally don't play PoE anymore because of the nerfs and lack of contents. I'm trying to finish my massive backlog of Steam games.

Balancing pvp in this game isn't really useful anyway. Half of the people who asked for pvp will barely/never use it, and the other half are already in duelling circles with their friends or a group, and often have custom rules already made regarding gear and builds.
It's true that the difficulty increase was not smooth at all. Still to this day beating Piety on any act means you can now breathe easy for the next 2 acts, as they are far easier than Act 3 on the previous difficulty. I find the barracks still incredibly imbalanced. Arcs causing shock stacks, thorns, and shield charges (desync much?) So you figure "I need Lightning resist!" and then a boss who deals fire damage 139 different ways, has massive ES... yeah it's just a little off still. We learn to compensate but that doesn't make it right.

P.S. Getting loaded up by Arc without being able to see the casters off screen while you desync to 5 to 10 shield charging idiots is super frustrating. "Lets combine a 'can't miss' spell with the skill known to cause syncing issues"... good plan. I'm not bitter though ;)

Fixes would be awesome. Fixes and good skills.

This is true with the exception of non-CI builds in A2M. A2M is extremely annoying for life builds if you get gearfucked (which is VERY common).

Even when you know what you're doing, it's still very dangerous unless you've got stashed chaos resist gear, or are VERY lucky. I've never had anywhere near 60 chaos res worth of usable gear drop by A2M. It's not really a decision to trade off other things for chaos res if i can't even access the chaos res.

Unless I trade. Which is the answer to everything in this game.

Those mages should be changed to 100% raw support mages.
Lightning Thorns, and a version of arc that instead of damaging you directly, creates a searing-bond style chain lightning effect between it and the shield chargers.
Naturally it will deal lightning DoT.
For every bond you touch, you gain a version of shock that lasts 3 seconds. This reapplies every time you touch a bond, and has no cap on how many you can stack on yourself.

So now instead of just getting hit by bullshit offscreen, you're thinking to yourself about whether or not it's safe to run through the area, whether it's safer to attack lightning thorns'd chargers vs running near the mage with a risk of getting a fuckload of shocks stacked on you.

And the big one: All skills and spells except movement skills, including Rain of Arrows, cannot pass through or over these bonds in any way. You must have a direct Line of Sight with the mage, or be in melee range. Ranged characters must position themselves correctly if they want to take out the mage first. This can be difficult to do, but the alternative is to kill off the blackguards which can also be dangerous due to lightning thorns.

*gasp* ranged characters actually making decisions based on danger that could decide whether they live or die!? WITHOUT being killed from offscreen, by yourself, or oneshotted?!? Impossible!

Well, the exception to this would be Phase Run, but that doesn't exist anymore.

Man, wish I could have played closed beta. Sounds like a lot more fun than open beta.

I am going to legally and ritualistically bump this thread until a staffer, preferably a dev, says something about this.

We got Qarl to put out a hunk of talk about the balance direction and hasn't once been touched since. By anyone. I'm not sitting around staying quiet and hoping these people get it together.

This game is all I have right now. I don't even want to play it anymore because I'm just not getting anywhere because of all the issues plaguing the game. I'm done being quiet.

It's times like this I wish they had some sort of thread subscription feature. :P
Release is prob only going to add a handful of zones (30min playtime for anyone that knows how to play) and some balance changes. That is all I am seriously expecting, don't be disappointed people.
