"Release is going to be awesome"
One thing to note that some of you seemed to have missed, is that im asking what they have to encourage me that this release will be better. I'm not claiming that it's going to be a bad release, I'm simply questioning the validity of their claim as there isn't enough information out yet to go on anything but faith. If we eventually get some information that sounds promising (This doesn't have to be OMG EARLY PATCH NOTES, just ideas of how they want to handle things in release), that's a good thing. I'm not here to complain about every new patch for the sake of it being new and something to complain about.
" Well technically it's not leaking information since it has no GGG or private content in it, it's informing me of their lack of information. The alphas i know are actually pretty adherent to the NDA. Last edited by Xendran#1127 on Sep 5, 2013, 3:28:30 PM

My biggest problem is that when they released act 3 they said they were finally going to be adding monster types that challenge ranged combat and stop the every monster must be harder for melee combat nonsense. That they recognized the imbalance.
What did act 3 give us? Kole Lightning thorns Alchemists Void bearers Original pre-nerf piety Where is the content that is challenging for ranged combat? 3 acts so far and that content doesn't exist. Where is the ranged version of dodge or die vaal smash? Why don't ranged get a skill that they have to spam up to max charges before they can go in and actually attack? (enduring cry) Where are the bosses that are immune to chill/temp chain/frozen? Why are so many of the bosses/monsters in this game slow moving and super hard hitting when that type of monster continues to be a joke for ranged to deal with? Its just the amount of stupid design decisions so far that make me personally wonder about how awesome release will be. |

Can't believe people still buy the 'this is open beta' line anyway. They aren't focus testing anything, they aren't load testing anything, they aren't wiping characters and everyone who wants to play can play. This game has been released already. They want to call some arbitrary date release then more power to them but most of us aren't buying it, the game is already out. I don't know why so many game companies are doing this lately, I guess because they can hide behind beta while taking peoples money and using it as an excuse for the games issues, doesn't make any sense that the player base keeps falling for it though.

I updated my other post on the first page with some more information. Anybody who only saw the first version, go back and check out the section i added about the economy and its impact on progression and crafting.
Also, it SEEMS like GGG doesn't bother to test any dangerous mod combinations when adding in new enemies. I can't imagine GGG doing testing with multi projectile voidbearers using different tiers of character equipment and saying "Yep, looks balanced." That's all left up to the alpha players, who cannot control the mobs they are fighting against, and are a relatively small number of people, making it much more likely for something like that to get overlooked pretty fast. Every monster should at least be tested with the most dangerous mod combinations people usually see and have their kill speed compared to other monsters (MOAR SPREADSHEETZ), with the amount of time you usually have to avoid the attack, if any. " There are lots, lots, lots of features that havent been released yet. 1) PvP is still in a baby state, there is a lot to come 2) Graphic issues : they just hired a dedicated programmer for that 3) Content : acts. They plan to release a lot of acts, act3x being the next one 4) Balance : constantly a work in progress. 5) Desync : still a WIP 6) Botting/RMT/etc : a fight they will never give up on 7) Cutthroat/private league : a dream that will come true 8) Higher tiers items/affixes as acts are released. 9) A use for rhoa feathers. But you didnt hear that from me. And totally not next patch. Keep in mind this is a small company. They do what they can do at the rate they can. " Fun fact : exalted value is OVERINFLATED. The bubble will eventually explode. A quick example, how much does an exalt sell in alchs? Answer : 120+ Now if you used those alchs, what are the odds of getting rares that would break even in terms of value, out of 120? Pretty high. |

" Thanks Hexaste :) More ppl need to become aware or "re-remember" these points as they are all valid. I think a possible measure that could be taken by GGG would be an update to the manifesto... or more precisely a "summarized" version of it (as they are extremely busy atm). Much of OB has been about: bitching...err... complaining about XYZ without the understanding of GGG's capabilities and how far they've come from where they started. We all know there are still issues, and they will take time, $$$, and effort to fix them. No one I know of has a magic wand that they can wave to make everyone happy (though Charan keeps trying... I keep trying to tell him his ATM machine doesn't spit out magic solutions.. however I can only commend him on his dedication and support of GGG and provide him with the respect that comes from that). Here's to hoping GGG can find a way to appease many of the players, their criticisms and complaints, without sacrificing their core beliefs. Almost all who've played PoE, at one time or another, supported it (financially or otherwise). Try to remember those days ppl, PoE is still a "work in progress" and we all have the choice to make it better... or put GGG, PoE and its supporters down <--- the latter serving no purpose... |

" When you say "Most of us", you presumably mean among your small circle of friends? Because from my point of view, "most" of my friends can't wait to login and play every night. [Hardcore] Soldiers of the Wasteland - sotwguild.com

First let me state that I love this game.
People are right about some of the changes in OB, but this is what I take from it. Act 3 came out, and we all got destroyed. The difficulty got ramped up big time. They lowered our chaos resist and made a bunch of enemies that spit it at us, nice. Enemies now had more skills, which is fine, but some of this skills work far better for them than for us. Incinerate comes to mind. It works much better when a pack of dogs is doing it to you than you doing it to a pack of dogs...and that is what I find to be lacking, the skills. We have had a bunch of skills added, yet they don't really compete with the old skills. Some are okay, but others feel very weak. When the game expands I want my options to expand, not just have the false perception of it. I am looking forward to release. I expect the new content to be harder, and to take some getting used to. I expect some new skills and supports, and hope they are worthwhile. I expect the economy to change again, probably not for the better, but one can only hope. In general I believe this game will get better and better, GGG is nothing if not dedicated. "Awesome" will be in they eye of the beholder though, we may not all see eye to eye on this one. I'd love the release to be awesome.
I'm glad that they ramped up the difficulty from the 24/7 faceroll that was CB. Back in may 2012, I facerolled act 2 merciless with a 1.5k hp marauder with next to no armor using only a 4linked heavy strike. They didn't ramp the difficulty up the right way though. They also seem to have unintentionally increased it more than expected due to the impact on the economy, and then again when they nerfed life. Nerfing mob damage is not the same as nerfing player health, player regen (since this is directly related to your HP value), all blood magic players casting and aura pools, stun resistance, and elemental effect resistance. Shoulda worked on keeping the progression and crafting the same, while increasing mob skill variety and synergies (As well as a more modest damage boost compared to the "LOL LETS MAKE THE GAME REALLY HARD" we got in 0.10.0) |
