My Take On The Whole Razer Situation.

Simply put, GGG sold out.

Best solution: Pay to play, monthly subscription, etc. In-game ads is NOT the solution, no matter how slight or underhandedly they're delivered.

Best solution: Keep the model they have and bring some cheaper micro-transactions for the poor and freeloaders. In-game ads like this are totally fine and people like you need to understand that when GGG decided to go f2p they decided to do something for the greater good.

Do you not see the forest for the trees? Open your eyes... Have you even read anything any of the intelligent people have written? Hell, if you had even an inkling of an idea as to what the real issue is here, you wouldn't have to read their posts to understand this. Read up on product placement. I don't mind a little product placement if it's acknowledged and IF IT DOESN'T DEGRADE THE INTEGRITY OF THE MEDIA IT'S INJECTED INTO. In this case, it DOES degrade the integrity of Wraeclast's environment. Many of us appreciate the detail that has gone into the "dark and gritty" realistic environment of Wraeclast. Footprints of fire and blood are great: footprints plastering company logos on the ground of a fantasy setting is OUT OF PLACE. No, it doesn't "fit the game." This is what some of the intelligent people have mentioned concerning "breaking the immersion." This means the Razer footprints on the ground of Wraeclast negatively impact the surroundings of our fantasy world (and this is what we're here for).

Oh, FFS. It's not a company logo, it's an obscure runic device.

Now, run along and enjoy your new RolePlay.

That all aside, if I tell you I've seen some figures (some devs felt it important to reassure me that I didn't have to throw more cash at them to keep the game afloat, amusingly) and that GGG's mtx scheme is working just fine, would you believe me?

Interesting.

I honestly do not mind the footprints as much as other people do. It also did not seem to me like a greedy move but an interesting take on promotion. Needless to say I have never quite seen marketing like this one on any other game I have played.

If GGG needs more money-I personally think they are doing fine-they should just set up an optional monthly subscription/donation. Say $15 every month. I would definitely jump in...

Just saying...

I don't get what the fuss is about at all. Seriously. All of a sudden I see these threads and no one is explaining what they're upset about. I do not get it.

Meh, Razer footprints in exchange for an awesome PoE mouse or keyboard or mousepad would have been an amazing deal...

Wonder what Razer's end of the deal was...
Microtransactions are fine...I agree that they need better ones. In thinking what would make me support the game, cosmetic effects just don't do it for me. If they had a way to improve my gameplay experience (my own league maybe solves this) without being pay2win (GGG aginst it), I would jump on it.

I am not against pay2win in games. I am not a competitive guy in a virtual world (in real life yes) but I like to have good time and experience. If I could buy equipment I could use in game to support GGG I certainly would.

I would buy a Shav's or Soul Taker. Why? To enjoy them! In all honesty those are items I will probably NEVER get to use and that makes me sad.

I don't race, I don't follow where I am on the leaderboard or even who is at the top. I simply don't care. I play for my enjoyment. I would enjoy having some of the top tier items to play with. They could make the items account bound and I would be fine with it.
Crafting doesn't exist in POE. Gambling does...and the house always wins.

Velocireptile - I LOL'ed. Which made me fart. I wish the office were empty right now :(

Hardlicker - I had to push the dog out of the way so I could get to the sexy quilt.
