Just look at my gear to see what gems I use. This isnt really a beginner build though man. And honestly I dont update the guide anymore its 3 years old. You can look at my character sheet and see what I am running and my most updated tree.

As for leveling go life until you have enough ES gear and respec. A Bino is going to be the best budget dagger for a while.

As usual from the beginning of one of my favourite builds (and the one in v2.4) let me share my current reaver with you, dear mate:

This time I just started from Duelist, trying to reach the most balanced attack/block setup.


Taking all the benefits from the melee+shield+block Duelist nodes, leech nodes and the defences from a great ES shield (with this shield, a 40% increased defences is a bit better than a 10% increased ES node).

What order should I do my ascendency?

Is there anything wrong about using this build with Lightning strike instead of reave?

Adapting skills gems etc. and including pierce but the rest could stay the same?

Hey, found myself with a 630es shield and a solid enough crit phys dagger in ESC. I'm thinking of doing a late game focussed money sink character like this but just wanna ask a couple questions.

1.) Considering I'm not going to be able to use legacy Voidheart and I have two solid Diamond Rings with mods like aspeed/accuracy/res/es% etc would it be best for me to take the route of going Assassin as my ascendancy class to enable me to poison/bleed + make crit capping easier?

2.) I had a tree mocked up already which looks pretty similar to yours and was going to rely on Kiara's determination to avoid stun. I'm now thinking however, that if I go assassin rather than Trickster it may be better to keep going down past Vaal Pact to finesse -> art of the gladiator -> all the way to unwavering stance. I'd end up dropping a few %es nodes from the shadow area and a few phys nodes but would be able to pick up some more easy jewel nodes + benefiting from good value at precise interception and command of steel. Any thoughts on this idea?

3.) Considering unless I find/craft a nice 350+dps crit dagger my DPS is probably topping out well below yours (although still pretty high), what in your opinion is the best way to handle leech. I've thought about using Blasphemy/Warlords mark but am worried that the reduced effectiveness of curses vs bosses might make that unreliable. If I were to go the jewel route what sort of value would you htink i'd need from jewels as leech if my dps ~200k? I do have a conversion Vinktars so can deal with emergencies well enough, but would like to get my leech to a point where I can sustain easily enough and be my lazy self. I'm sorted for mana leech + would have quite high regen on the unwavering tree.

How well can this do in Hardcore (EHC) ?

I'm planning on doing a CI Reave crit character but currently wondering about going Trickster or Assassin the Poison stuff is quite interesting.

Any suggestions/skill trees/etc for a HC Variation ?
