REAVETRODUCTION

Hey guys a few people asked me to link a short vid of my shadow swapping Double strike for Reave. This was back when the gem was first released. Since then it has grown into its own so enjoy.

I call it Soul Reaver because with Vaal Pact, a 20Q blood rage gem, and multistrike this build is a death dealing leech machine. I can stand in the middle of mobs, pop my endurance flask and stay at full health. The addition of cast on damage gems also gives physical damage immunity at short burst. It does not synergize well with other attacks but I use my lightning strike to build power charges and then just sprint mob to mob. I have run the build in rare 78 maps Atziri, Uber Atziri and facerolled so it can definitely go end maps.

The Aoe range is pretty significant without any AOE passives or gear. It is extremely helpful not only for leeching whole mob packs but also avoiding being stunned my melee. This build can do Uber Atziri and Atziri with ease. Using Reave as your main attack, flicker strike for burst damage and lightning strike for a distance buffer and retreat. For mobility we use whirling blades and for life leech we use Blood rage. Our curse of choice is critical weakness but if your having trouble sustaining I would suggest warlord's mark.


MAIN ATTACKS AND AURAS
REAVE-Gives substantial reach and aoe for effective leech and a very defensive offense.

FLICKER STRIKE- Insane burst damage for quick regen and escaping bad positioning. Now with fortify for an added layer of defense.

VAAL REAVE AND DISCIPLINE-Insane Aoe boost for Reave and a "Oh Shit" button in Vaal discipline

WHIRLING BLADES-Excellent mobility

HATRED-Huge buff scales on physical damage. Gives you freeze on crit!

DISCIPLINE- ES buff (if needed currently dropped for warlord's mark)

WARLORD'S MARK-Run with Blasphemy keeps our leech up. (use CWDT and if using Discipline

BLOOD RAGE- Biggest reason to go CI. Huge leech and frenzy charges on kill

LEVELING GUIDE

Please note I have 12k ES so I do not have many ES nodes. If you lack ES pick up more ES nodes instead of the Aura clusters until you feel comfortable enough. This tree can have many variations to shore up weaknesses. I WOULD LEVEL UNTIL LVL 60 WITH LIFE AND THEN SWITCH TO CHAOS INNOCULATION FOCUS ON ES AND RESISTS FIRST!!!

Extremely helpful uniques
-Freeze chance and duration is based on life so being CI=1 your screwed without a remove freeze flask,Auxium,Dream fragments
-Until you get unwavering stance this will prevent stun lock from mobs.

58 POINTS-PRE CHAOS INNOCULATION-You get 18 free respect points from missions in the game. A lot of these life nodes are hybrid to ease you into CI. You should not rush Vaal Pact unless you have insane gear waiting. Good time to go to vaal pact is when you can one shot yourself from reflect. Prioritize ES and resists you cant kill anything if you are dead.


79 points-Pick up aura reserve nodes-Depending on gear Keep Harrier and true strike node for now and rush unwavering stance next. Note "Foresight" 14%ES node is next to Harrier if you need more ES at the moment also.

I have done several builds but this was my first one way back with double strike. It is a bit expensive for a beginner but it is very fun to play.

So which Gems should I look out for for the Reave build? Just reave? o.O

how's the survivability like? amount of ES looks ok. leech looks great. just wondering about other possible sources of damage reduction. evasion mainly? abyssus looks like it could be quite painful with reflect too given the crits.

Honestly I don't feel the effects of abyssus because I pop a granite flask. One slash at a mob and my health is fully healed. For reflect packs I use warlord's mark and swap a life leech gem. That gives me over 24% so that I don't feel it. I also got a Which I strongly recommend if you lack dps or a full blood rage gem.

I don't see in your build any way to avoid being stunned...

No Unweavering Stance in your passive tree...

How did you solved that problem??

I use whirling blades if I feel I am being stun locked or rapid press my flicker. I just don't get stun locked much. I have an eye of chayula but I never use it unless I am in a group my dps is not really needed in. I hit mobs with my lightning strike, build my power charges and bust ass. I exalted my shield and got reduced stun as well as a new chest so I will let you know if it is any different.

edit: I find holding shift down once you face a mob makes a pretty big buffer from the waves which keeps you pretty safe while still doing damage.
